Biography

Born on the 24th of March in 1997 Vusumzi Leon Mbori, better known as Leo the Son is a Hip Hop artist and creative mind in the fields of the media industry. Originally born and bread in Port Elizabeth, his first love is composing and recording music, yet through the drive and passion he has grown for entertainment over the years 23 year old Leo is a Versatile Musician, Social Influencer and Brand Ambassador.

Passion for art (specifically poetry and hip hop music) began early in his life, as early as Dumani Primary School and he consistently  grew to be known as one of the most current and lyrically conscious rappers amongst his peers in Delft Technical High School and also around the local community of Delft where he attended higher education, he composed his first song in Grade 4 and presented it to his late mother Phindile Docas Mbori who was inspired by him and encouraged that he take this God-given talent and make the best of it as she named him a “Natural Entertainer”, he then grew up to take his talent very serious and viewed it as a career from a young age. When he was Fourteen (14) in 2011 just a 3 days after his mother’s passing he met his best friend Chumani Peter known as Flakko Rudeboy, together they embarked on a journey of maximizing their skills by filling up books on books with lyrics on a daily basis for the full year of 2011 - 2012 without recording. They together started attending a local open mic session by the name of “MAMA CYPHER” an underground cypher that was based in Motherwell at the time where Hip Hop was highly respected in Eastern Cape and took place every Thursday accommodating artists from the Eastern Province. 

It is here where he met some of the pioneers in commercial music for P.E - #Barba, #Ross, producers like #SMHA and quickly got recruited to join the all-star crew #PortEli where he and his friend Flakko, were the youngest amongst experienced entertainers. They recorded their first song in the state of the art recording studios of Damelin engineered by S-mha and from that day they both never stopped.

He is now currently based in Cape Town as he went on to equip himself with academic skills and experience of Digital Media and Marketing to better establish his own Company or Agency. It is now that he believes it is the time for his long-anticipated breakthrough, as his fan base raves and celebrates him, he continues to inspire and set a trademark for the youth.
