This is a piece i wrote using bits and pieces: lampshade, hair trimmer, rainstick, triangle, a book etc...

This recording is from a workshop at City, University of London, for solo violinist, voice and objects. The performer, Marco Fusi, was asked to bring a text that had some meaning to them, they chose Canto III from Dante's Inferno, and to utilise noise making objects: in this case a plastic bag, tissue paper and a modified electric clipper.

Through me you go into the city of weeping

This is a piece for 4 identical, upturned hi-hat cymbals. 
Centre left and centre right cymbals are recorded through a contact microphone attached the the bell of the cymbal. Right and Left cymbals are recorded through a small-diaphragm condenser microphone 1cm from the outer surface of the cymbal. Each cymbal can be played in 4 ways: with a single down bow of a cello bow, a single down bow with the handle of a jazz brush, tapped on the edge with a soft mallet or brushed around the outer edge of the cymbal. No durations or dynamic markings are given but each sound should be allowed to almost disappear before the next sound is played. Each performer is to play in their own time and space.

Composed for an art installation. I took a recording of a piece for prepared acoustic guitar, slowed it down and layered different sections over each other.

Winter

With the work of Christina Kubisch in mind I wanted to hear how a building sounds. What can a space tell us and how do we go about hearing that space?

Using electromagnetic sensors, sonification and field recordings I explored the space behind the scenes at City, University of London's Music Department. 

'Hidden' is a series of pieces investigating the unheard.
