Kevin Over returns to Kerri Chandler’s Madhouse Records this October with his ‘Lavender’ EP, backed with a remix from Seven Davis Jr.

Berlin-based producer and DJ Kevin Over has been on the rise over the past few years with a steady stream of output on the likes of Gerd’s 4Lux, Dj Steaw’s House Puff and of course Madhouse where he returns to here following last years ‘Where To Begin’ EP.

The original mix of ‘Penthouse Boogie’ opens with jangling metallic percussion, thunderous sub tones and dusty drums driving the groove whilst an amalgamation of choppy chords and stabs ebb and flow amongst hypnotic pads, hooky vocals and jazzy marimba tones.

Seven Davis Jr’s remix of 'Penthouse Boogie' follows, taking a more raw and stripped-back approach with a gritty drum groove, skippy hats at the forefront whilst easing in the original’s vocal chant, resonant pad swells, wandering marimba tones and a fresh, bumpy bass line.

Title-track 'Lavender' then rounds out the package on a Garage tip with swinging broken drums, hooky vocal phrases, murky bass tones and organ stabs.

PREMIERE: Kevin Over - Penthouse Boogie [Madhouse Records]

Fouk are back on Heist. Their new Truffles EP is packed with swinging goodness and comes with a jazzy Hugo LX remix.

After a busy period last year, Fouk have taken the time to experiment in their studio, focusing on expanding their sound and releasing only a handful of tunes. Their ‘Mating Call’ EP on their own label Outplay saw them explore the deeper side of things, while remixes for artists like Joey Negro on his own Z Records alongside Ron Trent saw them show off their production skills with a superb hi tech funk track.

On the flip, ‘Need my Space’ sounds like something you’d hear if Pépé Bradock and Charles Webster would get together in the studio: dreamy synth lines, lovely textures and weird electronics over an ever so sexy bassline.

The remix on this EP comes from Parisian artist Hugo LX, whose love for soulful electronic music and jazz are perfectly presented in his remix of ‘I’ll be down’. His version is filled with shimmering leads, synth hits and some lovely horns for good measure. For us, this is a case of jazzy deep house at its best.

Satoshi Tomiie has long been a respected figure in the electronic music scene with a career spanning three decades and material on some of the industries most respected imprints, from his debut on FFRR alongside Frankie Knuckles and his contributions to the esteemed Renaissance mix series through to his more recent output on the likes of Yoyaku's Yoyakuza and his own Abstract Architecture. Here though we see him making a welcome return to Kerri Chandler's Kaoz Theory following 2017's '512' EP.

'65Hz' leads and sets the tone via glitched out, modulating percussion, murky synth swells and choppy stab sequences before 'Coincidence' lays focus on airy dub stabs, a snaking bass groove and crunchy drums.

Title-cut 'Immersed' then rounds out the release with shuffled percussion, weighty low-end tones and an amalgamation of dynamic, resonant synth lines, which wind their way in and out of the composition.
