This was my first improvised solo session in my studio of 2024.
The usual thing, hit record, play something, sing something, see what happens. This is what happened. All songs improvised live and recorded at the time.

This was another solo live session in the studio after a Blackwater Lightship rehearsal. I decided to have a go at R.E.M.'s So. Central Rain and then I played some REALLY old songs of mine from the 00s. Really early stuff that's somehow still in my head.

These are all Voice Memos that I've found recorded on my iPhone between June 2021 and December 2023.

I've decided to upload them all here so that I've got all my rough sketches and happenings in one place. These are the very first starting points of all songs, just captured on my phone when 'the happening' took place. So they are all very much raw ideas. Some have developed into fuller songs, others have just been left by the wayside. My hope is that putting them here will make me listen to them more and see which ones stand out. It'll also be interesting to see which ones get the most plays / likes.

So no, production. Just raw recordings captured on my phone.

We had a quick run through of four covers then spent the rest of the session concentrating on some original songs.

This is just a rehearsal but I threw the tracks from the 16 Track Recorder into GarageBand and did a quick reference mix for us to listen back to and for anyone else for that matter!

Taut Angles Live Debut - Zephyr's Venue - 23/03/2024

This was our first public gig that we got off the back of our live debut last month.
We supported Avalanche Party at Sidney & Matilda in Sheffield for Jarred Up. It was a great night and we pulled a crowd. Thanks to all our friends who came and supported us! It means a lot!

Apologies for the sub-par recording. It was just a stereo dictaphone at the back of the room!! I was a bit busy being in the band! Haha! But I had to at least capture something.

TAUT ANGLES - Sidney & Matilda Gig - 19/04/24

This was just a one take, improvised, press record and see what happens moment. 
Three simple piano chords and a vocal. I was just testing my set up in the control room.

When Ya Comin Back?

After doing some diy in the studio I quickly tracked this from a couple of piano chords. Added a guitar overdub and then a bassline. I was just testing my new set up. 

Fender Telecaster into my Vox Cambridge 30 amp. 
Mic’d cab and into my Apollo Twin Mk II interface. 
Bass was Direct In using Universal Audio Unison FX / plugins in LUNA. 
Piano was midi using the RAVEL plug in.

Creation Space (Tongue & Groove)
