Roast Beatz – Summer Mix 2021

What it do peeps? As the United Kingdom roll’s out of its lockdown like a sunburnt drunk from a Magaluf sun lounger, the DJ’s amongst us are left bewildered to the state of our careers, when and if gig life returns back to normality. 

It’s at this stage Roast Beatz who has been working tirelessly to build his label Cuttin’ It Fine, has decided to shift some focus onto the hard graft he’s been putting in streaming during our spell inside. 

Every Monday without fail, Mr Beatz hopped on the ones and twos to bring the masses the latest and greatest from hip hop to funk, mid tempo breaks to house, disco to drum and bass and everything in between.

This one-hour mix contains: Tracks, mixes, cuts and blends previously seen live on Twitch by the faithful and fresh Monday gang. It contains his own work, tracks only available via Patreons, live remixes, scratches, doubles and a whole lot of passion. So, please listen on as you’ll probably hear something new!

Saturday 25th of May I stood in a sunny field at The Church of Love were I played my last ever set at the amazing Shindig Festival.

This was recorded in one take before the weekend as practice so you guys could hear it how I played it. No post production, just one take. I tried to apply the mix of genres I love and am known for into one set. hip hop, mid tempo breaks, R&B, house, jackin house and breaks.

Thanks to the Shindig team for having me over the years and Father Funk for letting me play on his stage at the last one.

Been a long process with this album. Due to the volume of features, trying to keep every one happy and get feedback itself has taken a year of my time! 
It’s been finished almost 2 years, I’ve just had issues going between two studios, mix-downs, gigs, label switches, podcasts, partying… and I always try and spend as much time with my amazing family as possible, so having fun with them takes priority over caffeine fuelled, dark studio days!

Any way it’s out there, being released on Break Beat Paradise Records on the 1st May. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it and out of the 13 tracks there’s something for your BBQ, car/bus journeys or DJ sets.

Here's my set from the almighty Shindig Weekender 2016! My second year at the festival and I love it more each time! So many familiar friends, faces in one place at the same time. A gathering of like minded people and incredible talent! 
Recorded post Shindig, in my studio, all in one take to give you a feel of the (debatable)magic that happened. Some mixes aren't perfect, some cuts are! That's the breaks! I haven't got time to do a tracklisting but will post at a later date.

Yezir! Been a minute since Uncle Roastafari posted some 'o that 'ol good good for you peeps. 

BIG L R.I.P!

He passed away 15 February 1999 and to me was one of the greats. He only had a short career in comparison with some of his peers, but while he was here, he left his mark for real!

This is more than just a bootleg to me; Big L is in my top 5 MC's and "Put it on" is part of the blueprint to my music and DJ career. 

The sample I used "The Fatback Band - Put The Funk On You" Used originally by “DJ Hurricane feat. Beastie Boys on Stick 'Em Up.” 

The instrumental was also on one of the famous Q Bert scratch weapons that helped me learn how to cut all those years ago. Using that sample alongside Big L's vocals really bought back memories for me. 

So here it is, all mixed down and mastered for you guys to enjoy!
