It's about feeling that calling to make the changes you need to live the way that best suits you and take on adventures for a lifetime. Broken Down is about the difficult times the world faced in recent years such as great loss, heart break, uncertainty & mental health break downs. It's also a really personal song about learning to ask for help in my tougher times too and then reaching out when you can to be there for those you care about when they are struggling too. It's chill, meaningful, beautiful with elements of hope for those in tough times too.

Continuing a nostalgic trend after discovering old cassette tapes from some years back...

In 1999 I met my birth-mother who had had me out of wed-lock at the age of 15.  Her father, being a pastor, stepped down from the pulpit and brought her to Fort Worth to a home for unwed mothers where I could be adopted the day I was born. She never saw me.

In my early forties, by circumstances not set in motion by me or my birth mother (we weren't seeking each another), we met.   It turned out we hit it off immediately.  We both thought alike, had the same sense of humor, and were both musically talented (her WAY more than me).

I showed her a song I had composed in 1993 in Ankara, Turkey that had been performed and sung at the base chapel.  She took it and started to play it in her church.  To show off her piano playing, the first part is the 1993 midi version that I spent hours putting in a rudimentary notation program on my Macintosh followed by her analog piano playing.
