🎧 Iva Bodul presents Afterhour Sounds Podcast Nr. 269 🎧

Today https://soundcloud.com/iva-bodul takes us on a mystical and deep journey towards sunrise and beyond. The beginning alone with this pitched-down Prodigy track (edit???) brings back nostalgic memories of our youth. Yes...Vodoo People. Aren't we all at some point? For example, late at night on the dancefloor. Whoever thought that was all, is being deceived. As it progresses, she opens the gates to the darkest and most playful places of groove and ecstasy. The mix is incredibly fun. It pushes, but also invites you to dream again and again. She gradually increases the tempo, but remains true to herself somewhere between down- and midtempo, only to let the sun come into our hearts with her last track.

How this mix came about and what his thoughts behind it are, she reveals to us as usual in our short interview:

[ °°INTERVIEW°° ]

✔️ What are your musical influences? What is your musical background?

I've been listening to a lot of music, singing, dancing and rapping since I was a little kid. My first techno party was something like love at first beat. At some point I met Marosh kopp and he joined me at the turntables. Starting with house, my heart was drawn to downtempo as well as progressive melodic techno. Since I have always listened to a wide variety of music and I like a lot of things, I would say that this also shapes my sound. Since it is usually very multifaceted and I am always in a state of flux.

✔️ What do you think makes a good afterhour?

A great atmosphere with loving people, sound that gives you the energy you need. Space to philosophise about life, not to mention the swinging of the hips.

✔️ What thoughts would you like to share with us about your mix?

Leave the head out, the thoughts far out. Let the heart feel, feel the sound in every pore of your body.

I was really delighted to play at an open-air event again at the end of September. And on top of that, it was one of our own events, held on our own premises. I am very proud to present to you the very first (official) set from woodlands Kulturgarten. As always, we start off very smoothly and gradually transition into a more lively and rhythmic vibe, all while enjoying a freshly poured wheat beer☀️🍺.

A diverse mix featuring artists like Fettes Brot, Hall & Oates, Überhaupt & Außerdem, Purple Disco Machine, Super Flu and Mac Miller.

💿 Wieder im Saft 💿

💭 Das Leben verläuft wechselhaft und nicht stromlinienförmig. Dadurch gleicht das menschliche Gemüt eher einer Welle als einer Geraden. Mal geht es besser, dann wieder schlechter. Mal kann man sich vor übersprudelnder Energie kaum halten, dann wiederum kommt man kaum aus dem Bett. Um in der Tendenz eher über Wasser als unter zu wandeln, benötigt jeder seine eigenen Methoden und Lebenspraxis. Es ist wichtig, sich selbst und seine Motivationen sowie auch Stressoren zu erkennen und angemessen damit umgehen zu können. Dazu gehört auch, sich ab und an eine Auszeit zu nehmen. Diese kann bspw. als Urlaub, Pilzwanderung oder Tag am See gestaltet werden. Die einzige Bedingung ist, dass man danach gut gestärkt in den Alltag zurückkehrt und möglichst unbeschwert dem Leben entgegentritt. 

🎵Heute haben wir Wille zum Wahnsinn auf KataHaifisch zu gast. Bei diesem Act handelt es sich um ein offenes Kunstkollektiv, was in verschiedenen Konstellationen Musik produziert und performt. Dabei werden Grenzen zwischen Genres neu definiert oder gar ganz links liegen gelassen. Für Max, Jules und Simon ist Musikproduktion eine Reise durch die phantastische Welt der Synthesizer. Dabei sind fesselnde Melodien, sprunghafte Arpeggios und sogar Disco-Vibes in ihrem Repertoire zu hören. Wille zum Wahnsinn steht für Freundschaft, Leidenschaft fürs Studio und Live-Auftritte sowie die Freude am Experimentieren und ausprobieren.

Die Sage von Elysium entspringt der griechischen Mythologie. Dabei handelt es sich um einen Ort, der eigens für die geliebten Hinterbliebenen der Götter und herausragenden Helden eingerichtet wurde. In einem paradiesischen Ambiente verbringen die Auserwählten hier ihr Dasein. Das Leben auf dieser Insel bietet schier unbegrenzte Möglichkeiten. Deshalb reisen wir mit unserer KataHaifisch-Zeitkapsel genau dorthin und genehmigen uns einen Abend lang den Genuss der Unendlichkeit. 

Im Elysium angekommen verzauberten mein KataHaifisch-Kompagnon Savu und ich das Café der Glocksee mit einem Mix aus Midtempo und Indie Dance, um den Ankömmlingen aus der Zeitkapsel einen gebührenden Empfang zu bereiten. Viel Vergnügen mit unserem Live-Mitschnitt!

This is my DJ set from our @afterhour-sounds showcase at the famous munich club Bahnwärter Thiel.

It felt like a little childhood dream come true. Ok as a child I certainly had other dreams (for example to become an astronaut), but retrospectively that would have been on my wish list too. Maria, Jim and Maris played fantastic sets in advance that absolutely boiled the floor. As my playtime approached, I spontaneously decided to ask @s_maris if she would like to play B2B for a while. No sooner said than done.

After half an hour, however, the technology on one player went on strike. Was it a sign? I don't know, but Maris said goodbye and from then on I was alone playing. What can I say? Like the whole evening, it was fantastic to close the floor in front of the hungry crowd. The spark was definitely there. A fantastic feeling and a memory I wouldn't want to miss. Munich, I love you. No joke. ♥️

A thousand thanks to all the dance-loving people there and the great feedback after the set. Also on the way home to the train ;)

But I'd like to give a huge compliment to @maria-theresia-von-eberg, who organised the event with such passion and commitment. Without her, it certainly wouldn't have been so well. 🙏
