On the latest addition to the musicTap catalogue, the label presents something for the darker side of the club. Introducing Icruyn, a graduate of music production currently living in Boston, he spent most of his teenage years performing as a drummer at friends’ clubs. With the ambition to become an all-round artist, Icruyn took up music production as an academic study, and now presents his debut single ‘Call It Off’. While still honing to the relatable elements found in Pop music, Icruyn - together with Lerocque - are bringing something fresh to the table. Lerocque considers himself a “tireless vocalist with no fear of musical genre boundaries”. And he is correct. His catalogue spans between genres ranging from dance music to alternative pop, and his vibe is filled with eccentric positivity and confident grooves. A perfect fit for Icruyn’s instrumental, the two have created a distinctly tasteful dance hit.

‘Call It Off’ incorporates granular basslines and sustained strings to produce a clearly ethereal sound throughout the song. With vocals that resonate between catchy melodies and low-pitched transients, the instrumental blends perfectly together to amplify the vibe of something we can appropriately call a ‘dark radio banger.’ A music video was made with the purpose of encapsulating the ethos of the song; parallel in quality, it’s the perfect accompaniment that truly immerses the audience into a resounding audio-visual experience.

You’re wondering who’s Lerocque? He was born as Pedro Rodrigues in Portugal and emigrated in the 90s with his parents to Switzerland. A cheerful, incurable optimist who always needed to tag any family photo with his middle finger.

As an immigrant family with three children, both parents had to work hard so the kids had a chance for a better life. That's why Pedro spent a lot of time in front of the telly - in the worlds of Disney as well as in some virtual universes. Guess what made him so enthusiastic about it? It was the music. Years later, after the failed attempt to found a zoo with small animals, he decided to start a band and founded One Day Remains. The will was strong, the wallet empty, which is why Pedro made some steps on wrong ways to get the coal for the recording studio. Incidentally, he also got to know his future wife in on these ways. She was one of the victims – nevermind. What must be, must be. But despite the fulfilling role as lead singer of a band, he always had the desire of something completely own: Something intoxicating with melodies one cannot detach. 

That's when the mission started to constantly release those songs that everyone can relate to. They tell these small and big life-written stories, without being too shy to drop their trousers. Sometimes nerdy, sometimes a little off-hook, but 100% Lerocque.  Since then he reached several million streams and views on all the platforms you love - oh I must go! There are songs that have to be written!
