On this month’s show, Organic Analogue welcomes some very good friends of the label and 2 of the biggest jungle heads they know. Gray Tones & Big Squid. Gray Tones aka Tom Butler is on the first hour, avid record collector, local powerhouse & radio host, OA has always been impressed with his shows providing a deeper and more atmospheric side of drum & bass, jungle & hardcore.
On the 2nd hour of the show, you’ll be listening to Big Squid AKA Benedict Siddle, a music obsessive & Illustrator based in London. His main areas of musical enthusiasm are Jungle, Hardcore & UK Garage. Ben grew up in London until 1993 & remembers getting excited by the rave tunes on the radio he would hear at the time. In later years with a foolhardy completist desire, he has built a healthy collection of bangers & oddities. He never imagined Jungle would have quite the revival it has had over the last few years but is wholeheartedly enjoying its renaissance.

Excited to be kicking off yet another year of Awkwardly guest mixes, we could not be happier to get things going with one of our personal favourites and one of Wroclaw's finest, @glassz. Having first seen him play at Massif Festival last summer, we were amazed by the versatility of his selections and next level skills on the ones and twos. With a super busy radio and gigging schedule + regularly performing on HÖR among other things, we can count ourselves lucky that he still found the time to record this beauty of a mix for us. Exhibiting his exquisite taste with razor sharp rhythms and slinky steppers, he aptly strikes the balance between the heavy hitting and the ethereal, making his fearless juggles between 90 and 180 bpm feel smooth and effortless. About the Artist:
Blume was raised in the underground electronic scene of Buenos Aires and now is based in Berlin. Her sets reflect the broad dynamics of her style —a personal brew of odd melodies, dancefloor-shattering breaks, and devotion for all things experimental. She is a homage to all types of music, focusing not on a specific genre but on elements she appreciates, like beats that amuse her ears or complex and obscure textures. Music that's sheer and bassy at the same time and also has a dynamic element to it. 
In 2020, she launched an online record store called Format Wars Records, intended to become a physical store in Berlin and music label as well in the future.

In 12 years as a DJ, Associate built his reputation on versatility. In his early days, he played Detroit House to get opening gigs all the while collecting his beloved techno and playing it for several people in the basement of the 9:30 club. Those heads noticed and in short order, he joined Vague Output in Baltimore and Sequence in DC. With Sequence, he fully realized the stresses and satisfaction that come with immersion in all night parties at warehouses in a major US city. He heard adulation from his sets for DVS1, Erika, BMG, and DJ Stingray as often as he heard the brusque instruction of a policeman or fire marshall. Through it all he clings to this underground music and passion for his latest adventure, Midwest Plenty. Under this name, he invites fellow midwest DJs who march under the radar and keep the underground alive. 

Midwest Plenty aside, Associate holds a monthly at Eaton Radio where he invites local electronic music artists of all genres. Again, his versatility is on full display from month to month while he plays warmup for his talented guests. Over the last few years, he seeks to leave his own mark, creating mindbending mixes, like this installment for R&D, along with his own productions he started early in March 2020. In keeping his midwest politeness, Associate appreciates listens and feedback and of course thanks the R&D crew and Furtive for inviting him.
