Sputnik - Reality Is Slow (Sputnik Edit)

Greg Foat is one of the UK’s leading jazz pianists, composers and music producers who has worked with a diverse selection of musicians including Moses Boyd, Bob Lind, Curtis Lundy, Rita Ora, Questlove, Lady Blackbird and The Kooks. In recent years he’s recorded for Jazzman Records, Athens of The North and Strut. Something of a musical maverick, his solo and collaborative albums touch on everything from spiritual jazz, library music and soundtrack sounds, to Balearic beats, jazz-funk, and deep house.

On this release Greg Foat deviates into the world of Detroit deep techno, utilizing his arsenal of obscure 80’s synths. On hearing the original ‘Psychosynthesis’ from Greg’s album (released on Blue Crystal records), Ross thought it needed a remix to make it the epic techno cut that it so obviously is waiting to be! To do this, Ross brings in Beyonce collaborator Foremost Poets, plus the musical genius that is Crooked Man who gets to grips with it too. Psychosynthesis Part 1 & 2 just dropped on the 5th August. New Jersey DJ & producer Foremost Poets Remix lands 26th August, then legendary Sheffield producer Crooked Man further shines a light on the track, his Crooked Man Remixes following on in September. PREMIERE : Greg Foat - Psychosynthesis (Crooked Man Psycrooked Remix Part 2)

This latest offering from the Norwegian artist opens with ‘Colours’, a record that again sees him paired with Sigmund Floyd. The pair’s recent outing on Badabing Diskos received broad critical acclaim and support from PBR Streetgang, Sean Johnston, diskJokke and more. Here they return in fine form with a warm and inviting slice of deep House music that marries spacious melodies, restrained percussion and Floyd’s truly enticing vocal performance. The track is a hypnotising affair that draws you in as smoothly as silk. The track is revisited at the end of the package with an ambient revision that does precisely what you would expect from the title.

The other original offering sees Sommerfelt join forces with Nora for the heady and Balearic ‘You & I’. Once again, subtle melodic elements are draped over a delightfully deep rhythm section, providing the perfect soundbed for the intoxicating vocals.

Sommerfeldt has been providing a mesmerising soundtrack for over a decade, releasing on labels including Prins Thomas’ Full Pupp, Badabing Diskos, Beatservice and, of course, Paper Recordings. He has remixed artists such as Amp Fiddler and Way Out West and has been a consistent figure in Oslo’s club circuit for many years.

LBD sounds are back with a new 12" from their LBDISSUES series. This time they have a track taken from a sought after 7" single by Eva Hurychova & Jan Neckar from former Czechoslovakia, originally released in 1984, professionally remastered and with additional reinterpretations & edits.

"To Chce Mit Svuj System" is a sleazy electro disco number with its unmistakable 80s sound, instantly memorable without being too in your face. Optimo's JD Twitch comes on board with his extended edit, that stays close to original but has upgraded it for current dancefloors. Up next is a remix by Slovakian producer Tasun (who you might remember for his futuristic ethno take on ORM edits 12") that takes the original ideas into more psychedelic territories, while still keeping things danceable.

And last but not least, a newly formed duo of Oliver Torr and LBD Sounds label owner Olin, now working under Torr & Rich moniker, are here with their debut work - a pitched down 80s disco reinterpretation of "To Chce Mit Svuj System".

Good, You’re Here, It’s Time collects 10 tracks of mood system house, proto-techno, and refracted poetics recorded and mixed in fits and starts across the past three years, accruing complexities and contradictions along the way. Lean rhythms trace sunset coasts of club bass, seagull synths, and twilit pads, laced with vocal samples of rapture, doubt, and the need to dance. Munzone cites UK revisionists from Actress to Swayzak to Burial as oblique touchstones but his own sound inhabits a woozy world all its own, attuned to asymmetries, subcurrents, and the sand in the hourglass slipping softly past: “All good things come to an end.”

DC Promo Tracks: Malasso "In Love"

Her phone screen stared back at her, its brightness forced her to squint in the darkness of her bedroom. She poured over her phone night and day; getting lost in apps that nobody needed; falling into video wormholes in the depths of social media; doom scrolling sections of the internet that she never knew existed. Without it she felt as though she were missing a limb, it had become an extension of her very being - how could she possibly live in a world without cute cat videos, emoji conversations and countless filters at her fingertips?

Leeds-based independent radio station NARR was launched just a few years ago as a space to share and discover experimental music from across the world, from new beat and post-punk to ballroom and noise. As a way to raise money for their studio costs and the running of the station, they've announced their first compilation cassette that's comprised of 10 tracks from NARR residents and friends. Made up of music from the likes of Monophonik, Bleaching Agent and Zmatsusi, the release digs into the outsider sounds at the heart of the station including new wave, synth-pop, avant-garde electronics and dubwise selections.

Mushrooms Project’s futuristic 6-minute odyssey Sun Down gets the dismantling from another cast of balearic astro hackers, reaching complete solar alignment since those acclaimed Sun Up remixes earlier in the year. Slightly - large - tip!

First up is James Bright, who brings his concretely clean-cut sensibilities to the fore in a cosmic quest that thumps along in controlled, unhurried ecstasy. Shapes sweep in and out of focus, building and morphing into an epic balearic crescendo for collective shuffling at dusk.

Proceedings continue with Ale Doreto delivering another balearic gem on his Late Remix, shifting gears on the original track with touches of psychedelia and bubbling bass that curls on the edges like flames cast out of the campfire. +10% tip!

Finally, D. Faux morph Sun Down into a sizzling, low-slung breakbeat chug, firing off omnidirectional acid lines, an invitation to some deranged dance party in some basement under an abandoned pub - you know the one, and you never wanna go home again.
