Quickly following up the last, instant sell-out smash, Shir Khan's infamous "Black Jukebox" series hit us with the 12th edition. Introducing anonymous project Aussteiger who gets things bouncing with the Summer house monster, "Bangbao". Lush filter sweeps, twinkling keys and powerful bass are order of the day here as the producer works his magic on one of the sunniest grooves we've heard this year. "Return" keeps that outdoor terrace flavour but plunges us deep into the twilight, tribal drums and deep electronics locking us into its hypnotic recess. Martin Lewis contributes a seriously fun and summery version of "Now That We Found Love", utilizing glorious xylophones and horns throughout the melody and letting it roll out with aplomb. Finally, we get the cheeky "Do It" edit which combines hypnotic congas with funky guitar licks and a sun-burnt, Latin energy to create a sizzling brew of hot dancefloor energy. Great stuff! A man who is no stranger to the label, Tom Demac returns to the legendary Bristol based Hypercolour imprint with two elegantly deep and intricately layered  tracks with The Shuttle Awaits EP. Tom’s beats are usually more known for heading down the dance floor damaging path, with his hardware laden, club pounding techno productions becoming somewhat of a calling card. But with this release, we see him venture down a different path. The EP is the Welsh born producers sixth offering for the label and we’re excited to have the premiere of the stellar B side, Dave Saints. The track is a seven minute venture down a deep and mesmerising path, with warm, swelling synth pads, reverberated stabs and a ghostly vocal to top things off. This is certainly one of Tom’s finest creations. Press play.

Premiere: Tom Demac - Dave Saints

London-based artist ABSOLUTE. debuts his single ‘Fairground’ via his own A. Player imprint. Out now.

The track was born out of sessions at London’s iconic Fortress Studios, also home to Jamie xx, Paranoid London and Bicep. It was mastered by veteran engineer Matt Colton (James Blake, Panda Bear, Caribou) and is already picking early support with tastemakers from DJ EZ to Horsemeat Disco.

With ‘Fairground’, ABSOLUTE. (always all caps, with a full stop) has crafted a bold, electrifying debut that envelops the listener in its cavernous atmospherics, with celestial synths and chopped, distant vocals heralding echoing horns and tribal percussion. It’s the sound of someone carving their own path, and marks ABSOLUTE. out as one of the UK’s most intriguing new producers. 

Elusive London DJ and producer KDA demanded to remix ‘Fairground’ on first listen, stepping up to deliver a pneumatic dub version that loses none of the original’s dark ambiance. The remix will be released in March 2016 and follows KDA’s own debut single ‘Rumble’ last year, which ultimately topped the UK singles chart with a reworked version featuring Katy B and Tinie Tempah. 

Having already appeared on line-ups alongside the likes of Claude VonStroke, Green Velvet, Derrick Carter, Julio Bashmore, Cyril Hahn, Gesaffelstein, 2 Bears, Greg Wilson, Justin Martin, Flashmob to name just a few, ABSOLUTE. is set to unveil a highly anticipated live show this Summer. Stay tuned.

Fairground

This is a remix I did for Jamie Lloyd, one of Sydney's most talented musician. 
                  The track came out in January 08 on Future Classic, backed up with a Soultourist remix of "You're Out or In?". In other words, it's a Drumpoet release in disguise. The virus keeps spreading ;-)
                  Concerning my remix, I wanted something with more "ooomph" than my previous tracks...judge it for yourself, but I think this one is on a rave tip!

Tessellate is back for a second round and this time they are bringing out some heat from Turkey via Aleksandir. The A side features two club ready tracks, starting with a euphoric and emotional journey by the name of Yamaha. Following that Belgium’s Asa Moto slow things down and provide a wild and trippy acidic remake of the original. 
 
Flip the record over and you’ve got yourself some heavy chillers. Dreams is a really dreamy (!) piece of work that is guaranteed to leave you relaxed. Friend of Tessellate Seb Wildblood steps up next to do what he does best and provide a lovely remix of the og. Finally we close things off with deeptrak, which as the name suggests is a deep track.
