One beautifull summer day i wanted to explore lithuanian music and bought few vinyls in the local record shop in Vilnius. One of them was "Sodų Dainos" by LUKAS PILKAUSKAS. I instantly fell in love with his warm yet powerfull track LOPŠINĖ - such a nice lyrics about Nida, sea and following your dreams! 

I really wanted to include it to my DJ sets and made a few adjustments so the track would work even more powerfull on the dancefloor. And here is my result - ŠOKIO LOPŠINĖ. 

For true vinyl lovers i cut few 12 inches of this lovely edit. 
Handstamped & limited to 11 pieces.

Despite taking its name from a rather ludicrous imagined instrument, its been apparent from day dot that Lobster Theremin very much mean business. Since starting in the latter half of 2013 with Palms Trax's instantly beloved 'Equation' EP, Jimmy Asquith's label has churned out wax at a rate of knots. Whilst each release occupies its own stylistic niche, a 'Lobster Theremin sound' has gradually crystalised over time - with the label now recognised for its dusty interpolations of classic Midwestern American House and Techno.

Their latest release continues down this path, with Asquith once again unearthing a gem of an artist in the shape of London based newcomer, Ozel AB. His four track 'Crimes' EP starts with 'Sidestep To Your Left', a smokey cut that sultrily emerges from the mid-winter gloom. The press materials liken it to a, 'forum weirdo's reinterpretation of Moodymann's 'J.A.N' - which isn't far off the mark at all, given its ever so slightly off kilter Motor City throb. There's a slight distance about everything here too - from the detached insouciance of the sampled vocal, to the insistent yet softly lashing chords. With the EP's other three tracks continuing down the opaque trail blazed by the likes of Actress and his Werkdiscs cohorts, 'Crimes' is a collection that's deep, dark and imperfectly formed.

MERC is very proud to welcome Mark Seven as guest editor on E-Versions 7. 
It took along time, a lot of telephone conversations, a lot of pleading, digging, sweat and tears  to simply find out what TONYS SLICE was after hearing it on Mark's Parkway Mastermix.
Turns out its MKVIIs attempt at recreating a live mix by Tony Humphries he heard on Kiss cutting 2 copies of the phone conversation back and forward forever. 
With EV7 looming we knew this would be a perfect opportunity to have a guest on the series, so we persisted and broke him down and he finally gave in to the pressure. 
In addition to TONYS SLICE  MKVII has turned in a superb acid work out in the form of CASE STUDY 9.

For its fourth release, Harry Agius aka Midland's Graded label has signed its first new act in the form of Montreal-based Solitary Dancer. With ‘Desire & Apathy’ being instantly familiar to anyone who heard Midland's Essential Mix earlier this year— in which it subsequently proved to be a much asked about inclusion— this eponymously titled release marks the debut of Solitary Dancer, as well as Agius' second time stepping into the role of label A&R following Hubie Davidson's appearance on Graded's ‘Regraded' sub-label last year.

From the opening moments of the EP's title track it is apparent why Aguis welcomed this release to the label, with 'Desire & Apathy' highlighting Solitary Dancer's similarly shared talent for elegant, richly-sculpted sound design and a knack for propulsive club rhythms that eschew rigid 4x4 drum patterns. 'Desire & Apathy' takes a classic electro beat and through the use of elegaic pad washes and swells of sinister bass notes morphs it into persistently engaging shapes. 

The B-side's 'Paradise Found' is a suspenseful coralling of intriguing sonic elements, with its fractured beats combined with a cinematic sense of drama and melancholy that's brought to the fore on the beatless 'Rapture Version' which brings Solitary Dancer's first release to an impressive close.

The temperature was ferociously hot in the dark basement. Outside the sun was at its highest peak and the concrete was smouldering under the blistering rays. Underground, it was much the same bar the lack of light. This was by choice and not an accident. Nobody liked to dance in the eye of others judgement, hence the shadows were best for such fun. As the room begin to fill it was remarkable to watch the people shed their clothes, layer by layer they became more free. The sweat dripped from above. 

Daniel T steps up with two tracks for the fun loving Cosmic Pint Glass label. He is accompanied by Lauer and Jack Pattern who offer a set of spectacular alternatives to his own arrangements

Ambassadors of the Jungle

Aus Music continue a stellar 2017 and begin the festival season with the welcome return of long-term label friend Sei A. Having released a total of 2 EPs and the extolled ‘Space in Your Mind’ LP on the label, his return comes in the form of a pensive but purposeful 4-tracker titled ‘Alone’.

The title track starts things off with rich atmospherics accumulating over a distant thud. Mournful melodies snowball as delayed synths interweave and build a warm, comforting layer. ‘Bring It On’ then recalls his previous outings on Aus as intricate, shuffling drums generate an deep, hypnotic groove.

‘Holding’ then rolls out a dubby, eyes down tone as sunken drums propel mournful melodies before ‘Time Control’ balances an urgent drum-loop against a gently tumbling motif that brings a heartfelt set of club tracks to a close.
