OUT NOW! Tom Tom Disco´s head honcho Richard Rossa is back with a new hot five-tracker EP. The two originals delivers some psychedelic, slow-mo, but very party friendly groove! The remixes comes from three well known Mexican masterminds and takes the originals in slightly different direction. Theus Mago of Duro Records speeds up the tempo and creates percussion driven dancefloor-banger. Colossio adds another layer of dark-disco chug to "Ghuzi Disco" and Leonor brings a mystic and even more psychedelic vibe to the "Ritardando". Extra picante stuff!

We don't know much about Ponty Mython, but their sound is right at home on this eclectic record. A freeform flea-market of samples strewn around a broken beat, strung together around a catchy melody, 'Pinto La Meah' has an optimistic feel, a subtly nostalgic sense of travel and discovery that suits the global groove collecting theme.

Something leftfield and I hope could be up your street here at 44,100Hz Towers - a new Portuguese electronic act/duo Tempura & Edgar Valente and their debut song Macelada out 20th October on Brazil based Frente Bolivarista, runed by Pigmalião.
This producer/singer combination are reigniting ancient Portuguese folk music with an electronic wand, influenced by pagan and Moorish traditions and contemporary artists like Nicolas Jaar and Nicola Cruz. The first time this has been done, they have immersed themselves in the region, visiting, exploring and doing so in respect to Bandua, the deity of the Beira Baixa region and the name of the album this track is from coming out January 28th. They also adopt a gender interplay, recognising their gender imbalance to the tradition of Bandua.

PREMIERE | Tempura & Edgar Valente - Macelada [Frente Bolivarista] 2021

The new concept EP of Daniel Monaco is the story of a group of friends who have ventured on a mysterious Island with the only mission to enter its infamous Reptilian Club. The tracks are a mix of Disco, Tropical and Dub an obscure psychedelic trip performed and recorded live at Daniel’s studio, but the adventure is not over yet because Enter The Island is not only a long trip into a mystical place is actually also a Board Game for two to four players. The idea was born during the first lockdown. Due the big crisis brought by Covid-19 there were no chances to print vinyl for this EP therefore Daniel thought to design a game made exclusively for this concept, its rules are unique as well as its design reflecting perfectly the spirit of the music.

Alessandro Rosa is the artist who made the design, the BoardGame is the same size of a Vinyl cover made with Forex printed white on black. An unprecedented concept unique in its genre a the creative reaction against hard times.

The Magic Movement kicks off 2022 with a collaborative EP from Argentina’s Guuse and Berlin's Magic Jams, entitled ‘If It Were For Us’ and featuring remixes from Benjamin Fröhlich, The Oddness, and RSS Disco.

The Magic Movement was launched by German artist Noema in 2014 and has since established itself as one of the finest purveyors of psychedelia-infused Downtempo, Nu-Discfro, House, and Balearic. Here to open 2022 the imprint delivers a collaborative project between Guuse, a multi-instrumentalist, and composer based out of Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Magic Jams, the new Disco leaning project of label head Noema, an artist living between Berlin and Istanbul who’s been DJing, producing and collecting music since 1997.

The title track ‘If It Were For Us’ leads the release, a dreamlike journey fusing rich textures, psychedelic guitars, bubbling arpeggios, and ethereal vocals, resulting in the perfect soundtrack for a California coastline cruise in a droptop Cadillac. ‘I Am The Desert’ follows, shifting focus over to a woozy, desert rock feel via glistening guitars, crunchy drums, hypnotic vocals, and intricate synth work. The third and final original ‘The Things We Lost In The Fire’ follows next, laying down a more classic 4/4 drum groove while chuggy bass notes, plucked synths, and cinematic leads ebb and flow around the emotive vocal stylings.

Up first on remix duties is Melbourne, Australia’s The Oddness, who reworks ‘If If Were For Us’ with robust drums, snaking sub-bass tones, and jazzy keys while the originals arpeggio line, mesmeric vocals and expansive guitar licks wind within. Hamburg trio and Mireia Records founders RSS Disco deliver their ‘Scirocco Mix’ of ‘I Am The Desert’ next, opting for gritty, saturated guitars, loose, organic drums, and tripped-out fragments of the original’s vocals.

Lastly Permanent Vacation Benjamin Fröhlich’s ‘Balearic Dub Mix’ of ‘If It Were For Us’ rounds out the release, as the name would suggest delivering a sun-drenched interpretation fuelled by the originals airy synth textures, warm vocals while Fröhlich stamps his unique mark on things with the 80’s-tinged drums and intricately intertwined synth lines.

Part psych, part world, part tribal. The aptly named duo Mushrooms Project have an ease in which they blend a range of unique elements into cohesive and heady pieces of sonic art. Mondo Janga is an EP that avoids formula entirely, and can be club or home centrepieces. In our ears, their signature sound blends playful percussion, and a strong contingent of sample and synth exploration. That sound is showcased perfectly in these 3 tracks.

Carefully selected artists were enlisted to re-interpret the original visions. With 3 remixes of the title track Multi Culti’s Thomas Von Party took Janga to the late hours, with his deep and driving remix. While Twerking Class Heroes put their broken beat bliss stamp on the same and finally a tasteful and elegant organic interpretation by Italy’s rising Migra. Finally, Da Iguana slinks his way to another quirky and exciting remix of Mondo that will have you jumpin’.

Flip the 12” for “Sunset Ballad”, a near ten-minute epic that more than lives up to its’ name. Soft, delay-laden acoustic guitar passages and yearning electric piano flourishes set the tone, before the Parma-based production duo gradually up the pressure via a shuffling groove, whispering acid lines and quietly bubbling synthesizers. It’s undeniably rich and life affirming, but best appreciated while lying flat on your back. 

Dirty Bolas will be featured on the duo’s second album 'Rivea Corymbosa', which is slated for release in the final quarter of 2016. For now, you’ll have to make do with these two slices of seductive, sun-bright brilliance.
