Balancing elements of both emotive and club powerhouse energy, each track holds their own weight, while at the same time, compliments and builds upon one another to culminate in an EP that brings the best of the worlds of Chicago house and Detroit electro. With tracks like "Lost In Paradise", "Break Me Down", and "Luv 2 Dream", each one traverses through different shades of pad-enriched territory that intersects Delsin-esque aesthetics with Alien Rain-like acid hypnotism. Hailing from Tokyo, Japan, Hoshina Anniversary has previously appeared on ESP Institute, Musar Recordings, and Young Marco’s Safe Trip, fusing traditional Japanese instrumentation with House & Techno sensibilities across his productions. Arriving now on Brooklyn’s toucan sounds label under his Shifting Gears moniker, the DJ/producer turns in two Jazz and Hard Bop inspired club-not-club tracks on ‘Drum Nation’.
Leading the release, title cut ‘Drum Nation’ sees loose drums and jazz scales meet crunchy production, delivering a deeply musical and punchy house track. ‘Average Hoshina Sounds’ sees more delightfully lo-fi production as wonky stabs and glistening pads culminate in an energetic mid-point build-up, making for a high energy dancefloor-focussed accompaniment to the title track.

Spaghetti Club kickstarts 2022 with a various artist four tracker that covers several moods to spoil the dance floor at the right time. With tracks from label head Pierre Codarn, Philipp Boss, Jealous Lover and Harry Wills, the V/A is musically as diverse as it can still remaining true to one vibe that can be found in each of the tracks. Starting things with a bang, it’s Harry Wills track Longbags that is to be found on the A1. The artist’s almost trademark heavy bass line is enriched with partly electro-sounding accentuated chords that hit as strong as the before mentioned sub frequencies and therefore not only carrying the listeners over the floor but most likely tie them right onto it. 

Spaghetti Club’s third installment was released on March 2nd, 2022.

Catz 'n Dogz present a brand new EP on their Step Recordings, this time coming from Spanish House Music veteran Danny B.

After dropping Prog House rollers from Baldo and Youandewan or 4/4 Techno flavoured cuts from Lady Blacktronika and Elisa Bee, Step Recordings is about to release something more soulful and closer to original House music. The man behind this is Danny B, a Spanish producer heavily inspired by masters like Frankie Knuckles, ‪Larry Heard‬ and Kerry Chandler. His 'Find Myself' EP is a collection of 4 original tracks, a masterfully crafted mix of acidy basslines, broken beats, warm pads and dub flavoured stabs, the perfect combination of elements for dancefloor fillers. Feeling the heat yet?

One of the underground's most exciting talents to emerge in recent years is the Oslo-based production maestro Third Attempt. With fans like Ron Trent, Art of Tones, and Bill Brewster, he’s been dextrously merging musical aesthetics that fuse trip-hop, funk, soul, and disco. Dazzling the scene with his far-reaching music since arriving at the Beatservice fold with 'Shoreline' back in 2018, since then his ever-evolving repertoire has continued to serve up immaculate sonic surprises. The 23-year-old wasting no time making his indelible mark on the scene with his impeccable ear for constructing compelling leftfield grooves, his album 'The Novel Sound' drops in May.

Opening with the rolling 'Freak Out', where dusty strings make way for vocal samples, scratches, and searing sirens over a bass-heavy groove. The mid-tempo chug of 'Age Of Steam' evolves over a crisp, club-ready rhythm, where heavy funk guitars, dancing keys and vocal stabs cascade. 'My Girl' features an irresistible disco beat, rhythm guitars and dreamy piano chords that set the scene for rousing horns to blast off into blissful summer skies. 'Nu Funk' drops hip hop samples, tight beats, and a delectable bass, while ‘Sunbeam Symphony’s’ keyboard solo dazzles before subsiding to a dub-infused break. 'Definite' effortlessly floats through waves of thick bass, funk guitar, elegantly used samples, and laser-tight drums.

The trip-hop 'Nightfall' enraptures as rich chords beckon, congas cascade, mysterious melodies roll, and an exotic refrain builds before the glorious lead vocal appears. 'Working Man' drifts in to fill the space with smokey drums, weighted bass, and an enigmatic whistle, like the pages of an evocative film noir. 'Greed' hides subliminal messages casting a knowing eye over the consumer-driven world we live in and self-help culture that pervades our society. Lastly, 'Last Winter Of My Childhood' transports the listener into a hallucinatory realm, with drowsy bass notes, tripped out pads and emotive strings building to a profound and rush-inducing crescendo.

UK based DJ & Producer Darran P returns to Minor Notes with his first full artist offering. Into The Light EP kicks things off with a jazz drenched deep house vibe. This release contains 4 original tracks from Darran + 2 remixes from russian producers SIL and Tsktch.

Jazzmatazz is a low slung affair which veers off into darker territory mid-way through the rhythmic excursion. Next up is a track entitled ‘It Was All So Simple’ a sample-heavy 4/4 cut with elements of vibraphone peppering the mix to great effect. About A boy switches the tempo up slightly with a heavy beat-laden exotic sound which has a familiar vibe throughout. Finally, the EP finishes with Skyline Blvd, a track that has a hypnotic groove and a wandering baseline. The track was inspired by the drive along the pacific coast highway to San Francisco.

We are super happy to have this long awaited release on our board and push very different music which we are very inspired by.

SoHaSo continues their summer sampler series with part 3. Again, the Utrecht based record label brings you some forgotten beauties from the past. Mostly from the Lowlands this time.

Perfect Virtue by British trio Shi Take is one of those gems. Tribal house rhythms from 30 years ago, with a bassline that makes you want to wiggle all the way to the center of the dance floor.

SoHaSo label head honcho Nuno had been playing a demo of Tools for Fools by Dutch producer Sluwe Vos for years, when he found out the energetic rhythm track never got a proper release. Well, now it has.

Flip over for some more forgotten Dutch house history. Jibaros is a project from dance veteran Eric Cycle. It has all the elements that made house music from the lowlands so good in those days: percussive beats, a decent baseline and good melodies sprinkled on top. It's a layercake of sweet stuff that just keeps on building. Very pricey on Discogs nowadays, but luckily Cycle still had the original DAT-tape lying around.

Nozem is a bit of the odd one out. It's actually a project by a young dude from the south of Holland but it sounds like he stepped into a time machine which warped him back to the 90s. The vocals (in ancient Greek!) are from Sister of Iris.

Closure track Tinkling Sensation by Delta (Alex Dijksterhuis) is more than 25 years old. With it's fast-paced rhythms this piano driven tune could well be something post-progressive from Scandinavia. But this is the real deal. Uplifting rave music from the days people were still carrying fluor sticks.

The story of Circulation is well-documented—and for good reason. His focus on streamlined dynamics consistently targets the heart of the dancefloor. In his debut Balance Music EP, the veteran delivers as expected with three effortless, tech-flavoured productions and one electronica cut, all flaunting the hallmarks of an experienced hand at the helm.

The committed deep tech rhythm and slightly ominous edge of 'Bedroom Lies' will entice and then utterly seduce you. Cloaked in darkness lies a bottom end glowing with distortion. However, a filtered house synth rises through the low frequencies to break the nocturnal spell, heralding a wonderful array of percussive hits and FX. Finally, an optimistic vocodered sample oversees the renewal, completing a moody electronic workout.

With a slightly retro synth singed in a melodic malaise, contemplative vocals, and super sleek drums, 'Don’t Look Back' ushers you into sultry depths. Enveloping you inside an 80’s action movie adventure, reach for this when you need to clean the palate and release some tension.

Like its Greek god namesake, the electronica of 'EOS' captures the essence of dawn, weaving gold across the horizon. Here, ambient washes of reverb shimmer through time. The velvet surface is punctured by vocal stabs and subtle percussive hits, comforting diurnal rebirth. These are exquisite frequencies for moments of reflection.

With a kick so confident it could spark Ragnarok, 'Viking Rodeo' is a stomping, bopping incursion through pure dance. The driving, syncopated bass feels restless but captures you with its infectious design. Alongside distant voices from the aether, a modulated synth blows with the victorious bluster of a fluctuating ocean wind, propelling this gem towards dance floor Valhalla.
