Since its inception in 2020, Italo Moderni’s energy, spirit and inspiration has been the dancefloor. The darkened bunkers of Belgium, the trembling speakers of Valencia, the warming dawn of Rimini, these influences have been the lifeblood. Solidifying this tireless effort, Mellow Bangers Vol 2 is the label’s most ambitious collection to date.

In celebration of the imprint’s fifth anniversary, fifteen artists gather with every single one united under a rallying cry. From across the globe, machinists have been drawn together to deliver a statement of acid and wave, of electro and synth with flourishes of italo. The shadowy fringes of the floor are well represented, audio artisans like Cyrk and Djedjotronic serving distorted drums and melodies dripping with menace. Brightening these tones are the likes of Lauer with his Balearic infusions or Gravedad Cinética’s otherworldly “Fake Atmosphere.” Amongst the litany of talent are musicians who have both inspired Italo Moderni as well as those who have appeared on the label. Antoni Maiovvi fits such a description, the sound sorcerer slicing beats through bittersweet bars in the immersive “Stopping Power.” Ceaselessly developing the Spanish scene, Iberian artists are rightly showcased. Madrid’s David Ponziano offers the cascading luminance of “In Search of Gold”, shimmering synthlines punctuated by breathy samples and pulsing percussion. New discoveries rub shoulders with established veterans, E-Bony’s bending and undulating “Brain U.F.O.” beside rising names like Ivan Pavletsov with the steely “No Future” and DjBoeing with the beaming joy of “Cheetah.”
Mellow Bangers Vol 2 is a breathless expression of the floor. A contemporary imagining of the racing rhythms and addictive hooks of the 1980s and 1990s. Fifteen works that summarise what Italo Moderni is and will continue to be.

Naajet, a key figure in the Parisian scene for nearly a decade, takes a step forward with the launch of her own label SWEAT Records and the release of her new EP “High On Heat”.

Between her explosive sets in the best clubs of Paris and across France, her Bande de Filles collective, and her role as a DJ in the Madoki Company with the Waacking piece D.I.S.C.O., Naajet is a true groove machine. With a recent residency at Sacré, she created “SWEAT”, a series of events celebrating club culture and the art of letting go, blending this way her two passions: music and dance. After notable releases on Shall Not Fade, Monki & Friends, and Nowadays Records, launching SWEAT Records was the logical next step to channel all the energy of her sets into her own productions. "High On Heat" lays the foundation for the label's identity: a raw energy and rhythms designed to make you dance until you sweat.

Berlin-based French artist Vonverhille and Parisian composer REMO, the duo behind DEF MUSIC, unveil their debut EP Life Drawing on LAN—a bold exploration of EBM and proto-trance.

Fusing REMO’s deep-rooted psytrance and bass influences with Vonverhille’s signature experimental and electro sound, the release channels their distinct musical journeys into a raw, club-driven experience.

Hybrid creation, Life Drawing offers a vivid portrait of their shared sonic universe, and marks the culmination of their years-long collaboration, first sparked by a track on a compilation, now fully realised in this electrifying joint release.

Circuit Grooves gears up for another sound defining release with Major, a two-track offering from The Running Man & Slow Assembly. Rooted in the fusion of Breaks and Electro, the title track Major is a precision-crafted, groove-heavy workout, where crisp drum programming meets fluid syncopation. Hypnotic synth lines weave through the percussion, striking a perfect balance between movement and atmosphere, each layer and addition an important part of the progression while a deep low-end ensures the track hits with both emotional resonance and club-ready power.

The vibes on display feel like an endless breakdown from the peak of the deep Tribal House days. On the flip, Clean Energy finds The Running Man going solo, delivering a kinetic Electro cut that channels classic machine funk with a modernist edge. Pulsing acidic bass and intricate drum patterns drive you forward, while airy, harmonic elements lend it a melodic flair. Representing the sound of decadent Lisbon dance party Comandante, [COM001] PÔT-POT is three deconstructions by Sibson that channel 5-piece motorik group pôt-pot’s circular kraut mentality into thumping techno, prog and chugging dancefloor numbers.

COM001 is 20 copies only, double sided 12” hand-stamped white label featuring ‘NO FRIENDS‘ and ‘WARSAW 480KM‘, pressed in Lisbon. 'A4' is a digi-only track /// all three are available for digital download + vinyl SOLD OUT.

“No Friends mixes the band’s psychedelic guitar gymnastics with pumping progressive house. Buzzing, fizzing electronics cutting a rug with drones and chopped up fuzzboxed riffs. Warsaw turns into something harder and darker. Jacking, but more techno-edged. Grounded by a growling bass-line, the “rock” now reduced to percussive ringing and serrated siren-like effects. A4 is slower, sinister, sort of industrial, powered by a steam-punk piston pulse. The singer is shredded. The 6-string noise shaken, phased and filtered. Collaged beats get a Balearic indie-rock / dance crossover go-go-not-go-go groove thing going.”

The 5-piece motorik machine that is PÔT-POT first came into my orbit one night at Arroz Estúdios, where we throw the all-nite pleasure machine outings. Bass player Joe, a fellow Leodisian, introduced me to Mark aka mr. pôt-pot, and we spoke lucidly about Can, kraut, and the EP his band had just finished recording, 'Ode to A' - four tracks centered around 'A' single note.

That conversation ended with a firm handshake and a solid commitment that Mark would send over some stems. Some weeks later, I got the parts for 'A4', which became the first remix in a year-long odyssey that fulfilled the basic criteria of what was to become Comandante: an unsteady union between the thrashing tones of rough, ready garage + the dizzying heights of the discotek.

Four raging warehouse parties and three remixes later, COM001 appears; a harmonium drone runs through on stuck keys, spiritual and mourning, rotating synthetic b-line, garage chug, sunglasses at night, bleary-eyed repetition for oscillating dancefloors.

Three deep / hypnotic club burners, calling techno, kraut, prog + motorik sleaze, for when your usual stuff don’t hit the s<pôt>.

A special thanks to Mark, Elaine, Joe, Ollie and Sara of pôt-pot for their swirling take on experimental guitar music, for their late-nite show at Comandante back in September, and for giving free reign to deconstruct their stems into sweet, decadent submission.
