Norwegian producer Perkules released his new and second EP on Boring Crew Records (BCR) on 12. November 2021. 
With the title track "36 Körv"  Perkules is doing a shift in direction towards Techno, combined with an early 90's soundscape as in classic tunes as Passion by Gat Decor.

British producer Andy Ash is on a roll! His recent release for Quintessentials slaps hard and not to mention output on such respected labels as Sheffield’s Moment Cinetique, Chicago’s Still Love 4 Music, New York’s On The Prowl and Sydney’s People Must Jam. Andy Ash tracks always have this wonky edge to them which make his music stand out in the crowd and we’re pleased to welcome him back for his third release on Delusions entitled the Tiawo EP.

Kicking off this four track EP, the title track goes deep into early Chicago house territory calling to mind those incredible drum machine and synth workouts on Trax. Stripped back to just the driving 707 groove and chiming digital synths this punchy warehouse jam is just the track for those heady hours where the dance floor becomes suspended in time and the dancers are locked into the unfaltering groove.

Next up Strictly Pins goes for a minimal approach with shuffling drums, moody Detroit Rhodes chords, bass and..... that’s about it. But it grooves hard!

Burger treads a similar rhythmic and sonic path but with added trippy factor coming from a completely twisted vocal sample which is warped, cut up and processed for maximum freak-effect. Just a little insight into the mind of a madman which is both quite fun and disturbing in equal measures.

Closing out the EP we have Brother which goes for a slightly more conventional deep house sound with syncopated stabs, rolling bassline and swinging drums.

PREMIERE: Andy Ash - Tiawo

We're back just in time for Christmas with another hard hitting release, courtesy of Direct Function.

This three track release is awash in intricate 303 lines, thoughtful melodies and broken House beats.

Heavy Rain sets the scene of the EP, with its hypnotic acid melody interplaying with the dubbed-out soundscape he's created. This leads you perfectly in to the heavyweight title track, Ecstatic Dance. A certified banger with a big basslinne who's far reaching influences can be heard from Breakbeats, Dub, Acid House and UK Funky - this tune is not one to be slept on. This nestles us in to the final track of the EP, Superposition, where the big basslines keep rolling and dubby chords keep playing to give the release a totally uplifting and satisfying crescendo.

Next up on City Bowl Wax Network is Johannesburg born, Cape Town based producer and DJ, Saunter with a euphoric 5 tracker that features a slamming, old school remix from Biodive. Drawing inspiration from rave, proto-trance, progressive, and the golden days of tech house, Saunter creates transcendental dancefloor bombs with the right balance between groove, atmosphere, and melody - an ode to the glory of the late 90s and early 2000s.

The Manchester-based Skiptrace is one of those labels out there that insist on fighting the good fight by keeping it simple: In publishing its content exclusively on Bandcamp, the imprint manages to keep its releases kind of under the radar, underground, away from the spotlight – devoted for diggers only, we could say. If your thing is Bass, Breakbeats, and/or House Music, a thorough tour throughout its catalogue is highly recommended.

For its forthcoming endeavour, “Skippy” brought together a bunch of young and skilled producers in order to deliver a high-quality compilation: marco ono, Portway, Trophy, Lapalace, Direct Function, Morayy, and smplstreet brought the best of their games for the occasion and the result is a full-of-dance-floor-fillers VA.

Premiered here, Lapalace’s contribution is definitely one of the highlights of the release. Sounding like an angry Punk drummer’s solo, the break beats aim to make us to dance… wildly. The acid layer and the Leftfield pad go in another direction and trigger a trance-like state. It’s dancing… wildly with the eyes closed what we are talking about. A great theme by the promising British talent.

Never underestimate the power of a good bassline. Mark du Mosch certainly doesn’t. This veteran from the harbor city of Rotterdam let’s his vicious bass line creep up on you from behind on 202 AC Ra. A dark and jacking club belter with clear Chicago roots. The five track EP The Heavens may be his debut on SoHaSo, Du Mosch has been releasing music for over fourteen years on a variety of respected underground labels, such as Moustache, Dekmantel and Royal Oak.

His versatile style draws on sounds that evoke strong mental imagery and a sense of eternity, which clearly shows on the introspective Resonance Delay (She) on the B-side. In which a melancholic melody is supported by muffled slow motion beats.

The beautiful artwork on The Heavens EP is by Joost Stokhof, an Amsterdam based graphic designer who is known for his love for detail. Which makes him perfectly suited for Du Mosch’ subtle and well crafted dance tunes.

In a normal world you would open your EP with the title track. Du Mosch chooses to close with it. The Heavens stays true to it’s name. A harp like melody that washes ashore as foam from a greyblue Northsea that calmed down after the storm. Heaven indeed.

Italian selector and producer Matisa released her first EP into the world last year via Optimo Music and introduced us to her Italo Disco-influenced productions. She now follows it up with a contribution to Sleep D's Butter Sessions new V/A Come Together, a five track EP that pulls in artists they've connected with both locally and internationally. Matisa's opener 'Gabardine' continues her appreciation of the Italo sounds that permeated her last release, crafting a punchy house number carried along by a hypnotic bassline.
