R&S Records return with a supreme slice of techno from renowned Belgium producer Fabrice Lig with a stunning remix from R&S new signing Space Dimension Controller. . On remix duty is R&S new signing Space Dimension Controller (AKA 20 year old Belfast based producer Jack Hamill). This young analogue freak is equally influenced equal parts by Model 500, Zapp, Aphex Twin and Drexciya (a perfect combination for an R&S artist). His take of Digital Forest takes it down a deeper, lush, funkier route that perfectly compliments the original.

La nostra stima per Marco Zanin, in arte DJ Octopus, è cosa nota da diverso tempo, tanto da averlo a più riprese citato come uno dei giovani dj e produttori italiani di maggior talento in circolazione. Al pari dell’inseparabile Steve Murphy, Sagats (con cui si è fatto conoscere all’interno del duo Die Roh) e Jay Green, infatti, DJ Octopus rientra tra quei dj che hanno fatto tesoro della scuola di pensiero dei The Analogue Cops e l’hanno declinata in una visione tanto graffiante quanto personale. Alla base di tutto – non c’è bisogno nemmeno di dirlo, quando ci sono di mezzo Lucretio, Marieu e soci – ci sono le drum machine e i synth dalla natura più disparata, ingredienti che trasformano ogni loro produzione in qualcosa di unico.

E unica, almeno rispetto a quanto è solito farci ascoltare e ballare, è proprio la nuova release che DJ Octopus firma per i ragazzi di Tropical Animals, giunti con “Glue Monday” (questo il nome dell’EP) alla loro terza release dopo quelle di Whitesquare e The Cyclist. Oggi vi presentiamo la title-track che fa bella mostra di sé su A1: non vi resta che premere play e attendere il prossimo 19 gennaio per assicurarvi una copia del disco!

Shedding their usual sample house roots, Irish duo Long Island Sound are back on their brand new label, Signs of Space. That’s not to say we won’t find any samples on the record, but the direction is wholly different than what they’ve come to be known for in a short span of time. A brave move in today’s underground landscape where one wrong step can land you on a trip to house music irrelevancy. We think Rob and Tim may be onto something here though as the “Initial Ascent” EP is a well produced re-debut. 

Our premiere today is the A2 track entitled ‘Shadows From Nowhere’. It’s a breakbeat track at its core but the accompanying sounds are testament to the name of the label. Cosmic sounds adorn the piece with lush, spacey pads and a full, deep, bassline. Analog bleeps and bloops further cement the track as extraterrestrial while the emotive strings really add depth and feeling to it. It’s the standout track for us, although you’ll be sure to find similar flavours on the rest of the record.

Following his solo 12" debut in November on AC Records, Armec returns with a 4-track EP on Echocentric Records.

The music on offer is rich and emotional - enter microworlds of subtle melodies, pads and sci-fi drones that ooze both melancholy and hope, and will appeal to anyone into electro, IDM and techno.

A-side is a nod to Robbie's IDM roots. Just check the expansive soaring synth-work on "Auden" and the analogue moods of "Conceptualise". The droney, murky & dystopian sci-fi soundscapes of side B offer another view into Armec's production work.

Keep an eye out for Armec in 2020, more quality releases on their way.
