DYR’s original tracks Skippy and Hello pay homage to early 00's house and were created on a legendary Yamaha RS7000. Skippy serves up DYR's trademark grooves coupled with shimmering synths, delayed percussion, and chunky kick drums while Hello is a rolling disco ride with amped up energy and bold breakbeats. Remixes from Jessica Bellomo and Axel Sundelin round out the extended player by delivering their own abstracted electro takes while retaining the original tracks’ unmistakable energy.

Founded in Uruguay in June 2018 by Imanol Castro (aka Imanol), in 2020 Panko joined the crew as curator. U´re Guay, is an independent label that releases varied genres from House, Electro, Acid, Techno, and old sounds of Funk, Disco, Afrobeat, and other eclectic rhythms.]

Hailing from the U.S., Minneapolis-based producer DYR elevates dance floors with her atmospheric, beat-forward sets that offer an eclectic blend of techno, house, and disco. Outside of the club, DYR (real name Colleen Burns) works assembling high-end effects pedals -- a position perfectly suited for a producer with a love for delay and all-things FX.

Melbourne based producer GREETINGS heads up Boots & Legs – an Italo focused label whose aesthetics float somewhere between yesterday and tomorrow – releasing records from Furor Exótica, Kayroy and more, and now he readies his Running Out Of Steam debut with four house and electro-fused dreamscapes.

Staying true to the label aesthetic of blending killer club grooves with introspective atmospherics, ‘ALONE’ is a cut of trance-licked house, M1 chords providing a disco-ball euphoria across the minimal, yet vibrant, soundscape. ‘Desires’ sees GREETINGS blend his admiration for Italo into a heavenly, 80s pop-ballroom experience designed for when the lights go on.

The B-side brings out the producer's electro influence; ‘That Was A Weird Summer’ is as Italo as it is otherworldly – a sound similar to what might be heard if aliens discovered disco – before ‘Don’t Die Wondering’ closes the curtain with a cut of stirring and transcendental analog-electro that's as rough as it is smooth.

Raised somewhere between Ministry Of Sound’s ‘The Annual’ and early music message boards, Kolya’s taste still extends from obscure tape-only releases to turn-of-the-millennium trance anthems.

As a DJ, it’s taken the South Londoner from Bugged Out! to Berlin – at home supporting Demdike Stare with coldwave, spinning runway house alongside MikeQ while a House Of Trax resident, or unleashing noughties fidget at the closing of Camden’s infamous Lock Tavern. All of which is to say, his debut EP for Ecstasy Garage Disco arrives steeped in musical history.

Recorded during lockdown, it draws on perhaps his greatest love, deep (deep, deep) house. A soaring synth work out, opener ‘Stick Together’ is a case in point, standing on the shoulders of giants like Peter Daou, but with a life-affirming exuberance all of its own. ‘Miss Honey Prancin’ In The Twilite’, meanwhile, is a tribute to Moi Rene, as well as a love letter to Project X Records in general, her vocal recast over a groove that alternates between outer space iciness and snare-rolling high drama.

On the flip, ‘Crying Over Spilt Poppers’ blends the flavour of amyl-soaked Gherkin with the emotional nuance of Nu Groove, joyous and reflective in equal measure. And ‘Jamais Vu’ signs off, its bumping kick pattern and intertwining melodic layers connecting glimmering 90s electronica and contemporary, future-facing house.

Solenoid is back with SLN019, this time Label owner Erta Ale shares the sides with the welcomed Italian duo we.amps. Connection, vibrations and affinity - all aspects that bring together a remarka
ble release between the two producers. 'Suck my/ Oblivious' is the perfect example of the meaning of connection and keeping true to one's own “style”.
'Drummy ya' is the essence of being eclectic and simultaneously dance floor oriented . A stormy chord combined with a twisty acid melody that clashes on the unexpected vocal break, moving onto the second part of the track where a stormy loop becomes raw and gritty yet arranged in an intentional and accurate manner.
'Suck my' is fast and "break" with a 4/4 beat making the arrangement experienced , at the same time , the electro baseline with the deep male vocal, throws the listener into its vortex of sound.
Side B showcases Erta's experimental breakbeat track “Oblivious” , perfect for a sophisticated dance floor or a radio podcast.
The last track “Odyssey” is one of the most intimate and hypnotic tracks by the record label owner. An atmospheric and even sentimental track which was created during his last South African tour

The hot air balloon drifted up into the sky, it could be seen overlooking the city, those perched in the tiny wicker basket below watched down upon a busy world of hustle and bustle.

The sky was clear but in the distance there was the odd cloud splattered against a deep radiant blue backdrop. The sun beamed down upon them as they continued to rise in the glow of the morning.

Perhaps this is what it felt like, flying that is. He’d always imagined it might be weightless and freeing, yet as he sat perched in the small booth he realised it was far more than that. It was a sense of being, a state of forever in which you might never land and touch back down to earth. That would be dreamy he thought..

Yuu Udagawa is set to release a new EP, a fruity assortment of fun electronic mischief which is reminiscent of early DJ Koze and old downtempo beat tapes. This one gets a big green tick and a thumbs up from us.

This was freedom day, it would go down in history as such forevermore.

Chiwax release a new EP from Re:percussion, a Melbourne duo made up of Mitchell Gee and Jackson Gray who channel elements of classic House and Italo into a wonderful EP which will sound excellent on the beach this summer.

This is what dance music is and should be all about.
