Tragic Revolution, a New Beat track from 1988, gets a uptempo edit by Lennart.
The catchy melodies and dark vocoder voices caught his attention and inspired him to give this song a new twist.

Lennart is a 23 year old producer from The Netherlands who started working at Slow Motion in the beginning of 2021. In the last year he got introduced to a lot of new music (including this track) by Franz Scala and Fabrizo Mammarella.
This edit was made last summer in the studios of Sameheads in Berlin and is now available as a free download for you!

Why were there never enough hours in the day? No matter how early she rose or how late she retired to bed, it was impossible to cram everything in. Every day she played catch up, chasing her tail to meet her own demands and scratch everything off on her never-ending to do list. Lately she'd been willing time to stop for just a few moments so she could catch her breath and find her feet - in her mind this cycle would repeat for eternity; rushing from one thing to the next would forever be her reality.

Samo Records boss Facets takes a break from running his label to share his debut EP into the world, dropping on Dischi Autunno, the little sister imprint of Jennifer Cardini's Correspondant Records. If you're familiar with Facets work, you'll know he's been firing out tracks for the last three or so years via compilations and VAs for labels like MATERIÁ, Electric Shapes, Khoinix and Calypso Records offshoot, Correcciones Calypso, but it's only now he's making his solo artist debut. Impulse, a name inspired by the quick and impulsive process of the release's creation, bridges old and new sounds, while connecting the dots between his core influences: EBM, New Beat and Italo.

Facets’ Impulse EP, out this October on Dischi Autunno, is made for the sweaty confines of the dancefloor’s fog-filled spaces—ones that flicker with strobes and neon lights, alight from the energy of the crowd. The New York City by way of Belgrade producer pillages the hypnotic beats of the 1980s Belgian new beat movement on his four track debut EP. With the additional flavors of Italo-disco and freestyle, all overtop the decidedly EBM bassline movements, the EP’s grooves are dangerously addictive as it twists and turns through moody atmospheres. Impulse was written during lockdown and, as Facets notes, was put together in haste: “It was produced somewhat fast,” he says, “and just had this impulse to finish and work on music at that time.”

“My Voice” finds strength in its repetition and trance-like rhythm; its clandestine and mesmerizing sample sets the attitude for the rest of the EP as it demands, “Relax… and accept it.” The track “New Dawn” feels like an extension of the new beat artist, Shakti, with its Middle Eastern-influenced synths that bellow over its chugging bassline. Acting as a peak hour track, “Impulse” demands attention with its synth stabs akin to the Rhythm Device banger, “Acid Rock”—here, Facets’ own interpretation is a powerful addition to the new beat genre. Finally, “Rush” manages to blend dance aesthetics together to create a sleek, polished result that could be compared to his fellow label mate, Curses. Impulse is an exciting first offering from Facets as an arsenal of reimagined underground club tracks that are fresh but, at the same time, remain familiar as a tribute to past dance movements.

Krishna Goineau is well known for his starring role in ‘Los Niños del Parque’ with Liaisons Dangereuses and in other projects such as Velodrome and Xeroox. Through one of his friends we have been lucky enough to receive a hard disk on which there are a variety of unreleased tracks by Krishna Goineau with MCL (Micro Cheap League) recorded in the year 85-86. Krishna lived in Barcelona at that time and was involved in different groups while traveling through Germany and Belgium to create new projects. After dissolving Liaisons Dangereuses in 1983 Krishna started a new project with MCL where you can identify the essence and influences that he had at that time, touches of EBM and metal synthesizers with vocals in Spanish as in the track ” No Information ” These tracks are preserved in excellent quality in which Alden Tyrell has done the mastering on vinyl and digital. Having something like this is like finding a treasure in the middle of a secret island. To finalize the release we have edits from Silent Servant, Curses, Esprit Divers. Deckard & Lucient.

Samo Records yearly compilation returns with their fourth installment, Polygon, a set of 8 tracks that, as usual, go in different and intriguing musical directions.
