Were there other worlds out there we didn't know about? Worlds where people who looked and spoke just like us were going about their daily business as we were on earth. Worlds that were still affected by wars and famine, poverty and injustice; worlds that were full of love and passion, ambition and hope. Perhaps there were... It's unlikely we'd ever know, but we could continue to imagine. 

Last July Atomnation brought us the debut album from Intercept head honcho Coloray. Future Static was a fusion of bright synths and elegant grooves, full of colour and emotion. As an appendix to the release the label have invited three artists to offer up their own interpretations of tracks from the album: namely Intercept label mate Baril, Atomnation alumni Sam Goku and CPU producer Nadia Struiwigh. Our pick is from Sam who takes 'Line Break' into cosmic realms with shimmering synths and soaring chords that lift us up into the atmos.

Pedal to the metal, he raced down the street, gathering as much speed as he possibly could. Why did he leave it to last minute? He'd had so many opportunities to tell her how he really felt and so far he'd scuppered them all. This was his last chance, he'd already heard from friends about her plans to embark on a new chapter, but he hoped that he could be part of that. Pulling up to her place, he noticed the darkened windows and the empty driveway, was it too little too late? All the signs pointed to one answer: she'd already left.

We always admire the passion and determination that goes into label work, even more so when that hard work translates to a huge milestone. Dutch imprint Atomnation have reached their 100th release, and to commemorate the occasion they've invited London-based producers Blomfelt & Narby to take charge with what marks the pair's debut album. Though both grew up in Switzerland, they met on the dance floor of Peckham pool hall Canavans whilst studying at university, and quickly found common ground in their love of electronic music. 

Fast-forward a few years and, after moving in together and visiting Blomfelt's birthplace of Finland, they began embarking on a musical path together. Some of the tracks written during that visit to Finland are housed on this immersive LP, Peter, Barbara, Beth & Friends, which draws from electronica, breakbeat, garage and ambient, marrying synthetic and organic sounds with field recordings, intricate, skittering drums and celestial pads.

Guided by the belief that the smallest sounds often make the biggest noise, Frame/Frame plumbs the natural soundscape for his debut album, ‘Driftwood’, a carefully crafted distillation of his own experiences and experiments with electronic music and beyond.

There is beauty to be found even in the prosaic— creaking oars form the undulating rhythm of the title track, the bassline on ‘3 am at Magfields’ is a rasping door, a whistle recorded in the bathroom becomes a compelling hook in ‘U.N.I.’, while kitchen utensils sup- ply the rousing percussion in ‘High Ceilings’.

‘Driftwood’ is an invitation to move, to breathe, to smile, to see the world with the clarity that only a 4 am dance-floor epiphany can provide.

Dial records is excited to announce Dial76 - four remixes for Lawrence‘s recent album "Illusion" with contributions by Shinedoe, Tracey, Trux and Carsten Jost. Amsterdam based Shinedoe, who’s productions have been widely admired and played by Dial DJs from Lawrence to Efdemin since her earliest releases, provides a warmly enchanting Techno version of "Crystal". Also from Amsterdam and newest addition to the Dial Records stable is Tracey who’s debut record "Biostar" was released on Dial earlier this year. His uptempo electro construct integrates the sounds of the original effortlessly into his own narrative. Mysterious producer Trux impressed with his concept album "Orbiter" on Avenue 66 last year and delivers an exciting ambient track with reminiscences of a shadowy beat. Lastly the traditional contribution of a remix by Dial Records co-founder Carsten Jost rounds up the lineup with a warm Rhodes driven House version of "Transitions".
