In a watershed moment for the globally-garnered imprint, SHEILA CHANDRA’s ‘RAQS’ gets a licensed rework by ZILLAS ON ACID and it’s a bonafide spine-shaking psychedelic chakra-elevator. Keeping up the energy level but speeding up the tempo, CALYPSO CULT regular, Mexico's INIGO VONTIER shreds out powerful didgeridoo-based peak-time ignition on the A2. FRENZY, already. 

The B-side kicks off with a massive main-room remix of SABABA 5 ‘NASNUSA’ courtesy of Israeli trance-master KINO TODO & DANELZ, chopping the amazingly catchy and beautiful vocals of Japanese vocalist YURIKA into a club-pumping ear-worm. ANDI OTTO brings things back down to the lower tempos Multi Culti is associated with, joining forces with Rwandan dancer and singer EVARISTE KARINGANIRE for a wonky, stompy and most of all unique track. Finally, cult wizard GOLDEN BUG turns in another spooky, subliminal groove, sounding like Toulouse Low Trax having a puff with Aleister Crowley - witchy incantation meets hypnotic beat.

Let’s go Balearic, shall we? The “New Island Sound” EP, coming soon on Shades Of Sound Recordings, is the result of the collaboration between Joe Morris, the label boss himself, and James Bright. The duo delivered three Summer-infused originals devoted to triggering good vibes only in order to soothe and heal troubled souls out there. A plus: Dawn Chorus remix, the track we were solicited to review, closes the EP with a bold, sunrise-soaked interpretation of the dance-floor/pool-party-oriented title track. A trippy and atmospheric version filled with percussive elements, dreamy pads, and mellow synth layers. The nature sounds inserted by DC help us to immerse in a mesmerising and relaxing journey.

The men of the hour, Bright & Morris, manage to bring together the many influences amassed throughout their long careers to deliver a wealthy and diverse tapestry of genres, succeeding in having a characteristic sonority independently of the output: Whether it’s a Balearic gem or an Acid banger, their respective signatures are there. That we do not have to wait so long for another joint effort of the maestros.

Gifted Culture Collective comes back with an all Italian library release of uncomplicated language and beautiful dense mood. This sound is made of synthesizers, Fender Rhodes, 808 and bass, recorded in Amsterdam in a dreamy 420 afternoon of May 2018. In full Gifted Culture spirit , the music was improvised, anbd recorded at once, with addictional production such piano and noises added in post-production.

The Great Walk is a project born from a live session series recorded years ago at Amsterdam-based Italian music producer Marco
Antonio Spaventi aka MaSpaventi’s studio, together with bandmates Two Thou (Luca Murgia), Autre (Pietro Caprioglio) and Enrico
Demuro.
Remained for some time on the guys’ hard disks, these live sessions, now edited and developed into five beautiful tracks with a cosmic
feel, see the light of day thanks to the collaboration between Gifted Culture, label of the previously mentioned Two Thou and Autre, and
Simona Faraone’s New Interplanetary Melodies.
Side A of The Great Walk’s first Ep, which will be printed in a limited edition (100 copies) on cassette and digital, begins with Monk.intro
(A1), just over a minute of mystery-filled space ambient, while with Motor One (A2) the sensations become decidedly more disco, thanks
to Eric Demuro’s rolling bass, stellar synths and jazzy Rhodes that immediately take us back the golden years of the nu-disco period. Ooh
Aah (A3), a downtempo track with a Balearic feel, closes the side with its airy notes placidly supported by a delicious 808 beat.
Side B opens with the beautiful Coast II Coast (B1) shimmering and fresh house music, like an ice cream to be enjoyed on the beach,
perfect for the hot summer months to come, the cooling effect is guaranteed.
The Big Acting (B2) closes the second side and with it the collective’s first work: a sidereal journey that will take you into another
dimension, sound escapism as dark and deep as a starless night.
The graphic part of the project was designed by Two Thou while the evocative cover photo is courtesy of photographer Andrea Pugiotto.

"The Valley" is a photographic project that was born from music.
La Valle Della Luna, also known as “The Valley” is a place in Northern Sardinia where time does not exist, far from the cool and fancy beaches.
A large community of hippies living there gives color to this valley. The lights of spontaneous parties perfectly match with the light of the nearby Capotesta lighthouse.

Die Inspiration für seine neueste EP holte sich @olsvanger in der Underground-Szene in Tel-Aviv: „Ich setze meinen Fokus nicht auf die Peak-Moments während einer Nacht auf dem Mainfloor. Ich spreche lieber über die alternativen Räumen, die die Musik dort immer anlockt“, sagt der israelische Musiker. Entstanden ist „Mental Contest“ in seinem eigenen Studio und in den BPM College Studios in Tel Aviv: „Um die Klänge zu kreieren, habe ich meine Synth-Sammlung und meine Sample-Bibliothek benutzt." Weatherall's unfailing 'fingerspitzengefuhle' in picking artists for the festival gets repeated yet again and if you for some unexplainable reason fail to make it to Carcassonne this year, the magic from the old castle still can reach your senses with the help from this compilation! 'Convenanza 2018' contains Berlin based Die Wilde Jagd, whose sound can be defined as some sort of post punk where strong chorus drenched basslines float upon a smooth electronic soundscape with both live drums and drum machines as the back bone to the beat. 

"Gleiß K" was produced in a Live recording session overseen by Andrea Noce (Eva Geist, As Longitude) at Popschutz Studio in late 2016. The recording was part of a series of projects conducted during the advanced training for Sound Designers at Datenklang, Wiesenweg 5-9, Berlin.

PRÈMIÉRE: Die Wilde Jagd - Gleiß K [Höga Nord]

@MireiaRec celebrate their tenth release “ZEHN” with a split EP by Amsterdam’s @Pin-Up-Club and Berlin's Conga Fever. The two originals are accompanied by remixes by Lauer, Jacob Korn and RSS Disco.

Pin Up Club’s “Dilapidated” is a true synth-workout with hard-hitting claps.

@RSS Disco channel the track into a psychedelic journey with a distinctive Italo feeling.  A frayed lead melody interwoven with moist Oberheim chords and backed up by old-schoolish drums and a classic arpeggiated Juno Bassline ignite neon lights and incense at the same time.

Being seasoned DJs that know how to read a crowd, RSS Disco seem to feel at home in a broad variety of terrains: Be it their remix of indie/lofi sleeper hit “In Dreams” by Tomemitsu or vintage indian upbeat psychfunk with Rupa’s “Aaj Shanibar”. Their remix of “Dilapidated” is no exception in a string of quality music.

“ZEHN” is a diverse and worthwhile entry into Mireia Record’s catalogue, feeling right at home with their back catalogue of always interesting serious/not so serious dance music with a melancholic twist.
