Beside the railway depot, beyond the equinox, the atmosphere felt tense. Movement defined the top of the arches, but in the darkness beneath, there was little much kinetic or soulful with which to connect. Bird song crept into the nocturne, it's inky black sky beginning to bleed blue.

A whole year on from his debut on Hot Concept, Bleaching Agent continues his journey "from gabber to Goldfrapp" with another exemplary EP on Hot Concept, the Berlin-based label run by John Loveless. Premiering on R$N is 'Faster Silence', which distills BA's lifelong love of DIY culture into a slowly rising outsider-anthem in waiting, replete with post-punk licks, crashing drums and rich synths; big room house for basement punks.

Legend of Sh3itAn is the third EP of the french evil duo Sheitan Brothers (Patrick Lallemand & Pierre-Marie Oullion) who team up for the occasion with on of the most prolific french house producer so called « Sampling As An Art » (aka S3A) Max Fader. Together they create Sh3itAn an artistic project who plan to combine the worldwide music digging knowledge of the duo with the groove and the technic of S3A. Before this ep they self release a first attempt two years ago with an edit of a french boogie song from the early 80’s turn into an acid slow disco track named « Parfum d’Acid ». After this they decide to come back back with a big EP (5 tracks) after an intense producing work in 2020.

First of all the if this EP looks like a geek nostalgia to the golden era of Zelda in fact it is more a travel in different area of the geographical world musical landscape. In term of inspiration and samples, the Sh3itAn has been taken elements from libanese synthetic bellydance of the 80’s (Sargon Blues), very rare arabic french boogie (Lulu’s dance), Colombian 90’s raga hip-hop, South african mighty house of the 90’s (Jungun) or middle east classical instrument like Gasba flûtes (Ocarina of sheitan, Durian Max).
As djing is the main practice of those three producers the main idea of this Ep is to release original bomb tracks to hit the dancefloors in different range of style: 90’s hip hop (Sargon Blues), jungle (Jungun), Techno oriented (Ocarina of Sheitan), Boogie synth (Lulu’s dance), Dabke house (Durian Max). 
Legend of Sh3itAn is an atypical journey into sweet memories of musical range and styles of the last decades and an anthem to diversity and mixity in musical, a meeting between the east and the west on the musical map. Let’s sheitanize the dancefloor

After his debut "Mare Aperto", Amsterdam-based Gropina returns to the light with a four tracks 12” EP out on Paesaggi Records.

“Microcosmo” is a synth melody with a slow-rolling Roland 606 drum-machine rhythm, Quena flute by Hamburg saxophonist Linus Kleinlosen, ambient pads, and natural field recordings. The atmosphere of the song brings you into a dewdrop in a blade of grass in the early morning hours right after the twilight of a sunny day. Following we fade into a dreamy dancefloor jam called “Awumbuk” where bittersweet chords are backed with a Yamaha RX5 rhythm, a groovy FM baseline from a Yamaha DX100, and Roland D50 Lush pads. On the flip, we can find an adventurous downtempo break jam called “Natura Naturans” marked by trancey elements, a solid bassline, and an evocative flute melody. The journey ends with “Omen” which is a dark slow jam characterized by a live processed drum machine groove with a hint of wave influence and a metaphysical vibe to it.

Side B and the riso-printed insert depict the head of the bifid siren from the Romanesque church of S.Pietro in Gropina. In Christian symbology, the fish-tailed siren represents the seductive power of the senses and illusion, which distracts man from the spiritual realm by attracting him to ephemeral pleasures. Like every human-animal hybrid creature, the siren is the duality of intellect-primordial instincts and the conflict between the double nature of man.

Microcosmo has been conceived and recorded between 2018 and 2020.  The release includes a riso-printed insert and a sticker.

Drawing on a diverse range of influences, Quimbie’s debut album ‘Sunday Fiction’ is a sophisticated journey through myriad grooves. From dancefloor to home listening vibes, it’s a riot of warm chords, dusty samples, booming bass and infectious rhythms. The mysterious producer has managed that difficult feat of crafting a ‘dance’ record that works outside of a club context, imbuing his tracks with a charisma and vibrancy that appeals to the mind as much as the body.

The album begins with the woozy Kaytranada-esque ‘I Made You A Tape’ before the sumptuous broken beat / garage bubbling of the title track glides into play. ‘Dino’ delves into glitchy, experimental junglism, while ‘Same Time Same Place’ is a taut slice of wonky deep house — a collaboration with Berlin’s Albert Vogt. ‘Loveletters.pdf’ — a co-production alongside Marlon — continues the theme but picks up the energy with rolling samba drums amidst the hazy Rhodes melodics.

‘BBLS’ demonstrates Quimbie’s love of heavily-swung, 8-bit infused hip-hop in the Madlib/Dilla mode, and ‘What To Put On A Record’ combines early drum machine bossa nova rhythm, twinkling jazz pianos and swooning strings in beautiful fashion. ‘How To Cry Part 1’ ploughs a deep breakbeat groove with subtle, ethereal pad sounds and deep, buzzing bass tones, while ‘KYBU’ cuts up some disco rug. The gorgeous ‘L’ brings the album to a close, all bubbling tom toms and swirling chords, with a little of The Avalanches’ sound coursing through its romantic veins.

A perfect complement of analog synths and drum machines make the perfect bed for Quimbie’s magpie-like sample selection, and the overall effect is a wistful, engrossing record that you’ll want to come back to again and again.
