Quickly following up the last, instant sell-out smash, Shir Khan's infamous "Black Jukebox" series hit us with the 12th edition. Introducing anonymous project Aussteiger who gets things bouncing with the Summer house monster, "Bangbao". Lush filter sweeps, twinkling keys and powerful bass are order of the day here as the producer works his magic on one of the sunniest grooves we've heard this year. "Return" keeps that outdoor terrace flavour but plunges us deep into the twilight, tribal drums and deep electronics locking us into its hypnotic recess. Martin Lewis contributes a seriously fun and summery version of "Now That We Found Love", utilizing glorious xylophones and horns throughout the melody and letting it roll out with aplomb. Finally, we get the cheeky "Do It" edit which combines hypnotic congas with funky guitar licks and a sun-burnt, Latin energy to create a sizzling brew of hot dancefloor energy. Great stuff! Hold Up ft Kendra Foster is the breakout first single on Lonely C’s (aka Charles Levine of Soul Clap) debut album, Charles & Tribulations. Foster, known as a multitalented force of singer/songwriter who's toured the world for over a decade with Parliament-Funkadelic, won a grammy for her co-writing on D’Angelo & The Vanguard’s Black Messiah, most recently set forth as a solo act with her 2016 eponymous sophomore album. This may be Kendra’s first foray into house music, but she’s no stranger to the groove. This is a dance-floor classic in the making, already receiving powerful response from crowds at Soul Clap’s DJ sets. On Hold Up, Foster sings, “It's a sad and sorry thing if you gave all you got, its the day of reckoning and you ain't got a shot!”. The music of Genius of Time has always been defined by a certain elegance and grace. Finding new ways into and out of the labyrinth that some people call (deep) house, one the Swedish duo’s inner strength is the uncanny ability to create tension, sustaining and playing with it, before rewarding the listener (or dancer) with a fulminating mirror ball. Same goes for their treatment of percussive elements. 
„Peace Bird“, the opener of GOT’s EP of the same name, is a prime-example of that technique: a tight build-up and an intricate breakdown lead to heavily strings and foolproof floor finesse. Coming along with „Smiling Into Eternity“ that mellows you down easy as well as the club ready  „Rymd01“, the whole thing is a more than worthy successor to GOT’s first EP for Running Back almost five years ago. Niceness unlimited. Nerd facts: most of the elements of these three tracks here were recorded live and then mixed down on a reel to reel. No safety net, no double bottom!  Genius of time and genius of love.
