First up, "Outer Acid" delivers up a Minimal-Space-Acid flavor. Next, "Qwazars" continues the Space motif with a Minimal-Tech touch. "Nodyahed" moves toward a Dark Club Bounce with a dash of Tribal flavor. "Aether" offers up a more late-night Ambient-Space-House flavor. Hope you enjoy these selections at the club and at home for a long time to come.

Mr. Fingers - Mr. Fingers EP 2016 - Alleviated Records ML2231

Powder is an up-and-coming producer from Tokyo who had put out only a couple of releases on Born Free and ESP Institute when Resident Advisor featured her on the monthly series “Breaking Through” this past August.
Inspired by her first visit to Cocktail d’Amore in 2015, she was so enthralled by the atmosphere, she started working on an EP for the label – capturing her experiences from the party.
The way Powder interprets sound is extremely personal and unique. 
The opener “Hip” has a driving sensual groove with hints of acid, seasoned with a good amount of loons and a mysterious foggy melody while “Heart” sounds like an italo disco aural translation of a shojo manga script for a “fun in the sun” tinged story.
On the flip side a slowmo industrial-meets-rainforest groove characterizes “Hole” followed by “Hair” in which she blends many layers of rhythm patterns together.

100% Silk are releasing Silk to Dry the Tears, a 31 track compilation commemorating those lost in the tragic Ghost Ship fire in Oakland just over a year ago. Half of the profits are being donated to an organization called Safer DIY Spaces that emerged in the wake of the disaster. They “offer confidential guidance, financial assistance, and labor to the frequently vulnerable members of the Bay Area’s communities who live and/or work in non-traditional «DIY» spaces.”

Bolting Bits is more than happy to help support the cause by promoting the compilation and premiering the first track on it from Birmingham-based The Cyclist entitled The City Hangover. 

An emotional piece at its core, it starts off on a bittersweet note with warm yet brooding pads and a synth melody that opens up as it progresses until it climaxes and mutes to a lighthearted arpeggiated pattern. Meanwhile, atmospheric noise brings up the tension as the various percussion instruments build the rhythm to a second, more rhythmical apex. The song fits as an appropriate metaphor to the tragedy at hand, melancholic after the loss yet building positivity as time goes on through the community efforts made to help those affected and others who may find themselves in tough situations.

R&S founder Renaat Vandepapeliere launches a new series RV Trax, to reflect the sound of his DJ sets and to give a platform to artists not based on social media likes or online hype.

Re-invigorated and inspired by contemporary dance floor sounds, after 30+ years as the label owner and figurehead Renaat succumbed to the temptation to finally, at the tender age of 60, try his own hand at rocking the crowd.

Renaat's sets have seen him assemble a treasure trove of unreleased music that will now find a very personal home on RV Trax. Emblazoned with the Belgian national colours of black, yellow and red these tracks proudly flaunt their 'floor-filling dynamics.

The first, a dance floor stormer from Steve Legget, remixing fellow North Easterner Bird Of Paradise’s original - a tight punchy workout that pairs distorted 909 kicks against a high tension string part and melancholic synth pads. G-Prod (AKA French brothers David and Nicolas Gaugain) provide a balmy, motor-city style number - shuffling drums underpin sunrise synth washes and euphoric melodies. Buenos Ayres' Hermetics provide a frostier mood with ‘Collider’ - chilly FM bells pinned against serrated percussion and swirling distortion

The long awaited debut release from Melbourne based producer / personality Mousse is here! Until now, Mousse aka Simon Barry has kept his craft close to his chest and we finally hear the result of years of hard studio labour in the bungalow. Barry has been a crucial part of Melbourne's dance community for the past five or so years, co-hosting the legendary disco party 'Misty Nights' with Danny Hotep as well being a fixture at The House De Frost and Animals Dancing parties.

On the A side we have the anthemic 'Sex and Acid' and 'Big Fat Party Popper' two raw house tracks with links to early Chicago classics. Quirky sound effects and catchy vocals simmer on top of hot acid bassline to give you a couple of the summers most memorable bangers! But don't be fooled, Mousse is no one-trick-pony. On the flip we step out of the bungalow and into 'Afternoon Bloom' where jazzy pianos dance around a playful machine rhythm. Rounding out the four tracker 'Bare With Me' delivers an evolving house jam with a conversive synth line and dubbed out chords.

A killer debut release from one of Melbournes rising stars.

Nathan Surreal returns with another EP for Biologic Records. ’A Change Of Heart’ is due for digital-only release on June 29th.

‘A Change Of Heart’ is a cathartic peak time workout full of radiant vocal bursts and ricocheting percussion. ‘Kanakotoba’ is a blissful ambient stepper full of dubby echoes and crisp percussion. For his remix of ‘Where Were We’, Lord Of The Isles brandishes warm, expansive pads amongst sharp broken beats.

On the same day as this EP, the label will also release a vinyl-only EP featuring a joint effort from Nathan Surreal and Herzel, with further remixes by Marquis Hawkes and Lord Of The Isles.

Ara Koufax (Sam Gill and Luke Neher) have made music and videos together in Melbourne, Australia for over a decade.

Their latest EP follows a string of two-track releases through Cutters Records, CSCN and Fort Romeau's Cin Cin imprint.

'Sweet Pitch' forgoes utilitarian club tracks. Instead, facsimiles of techno, fake trance, uncanny-valley breaks, shuffles, and disembodied voices find their home in a spacious ambient soundscape. It's a compilation of music that never happened.

Berlin based producers and DJs, LONGHAIR returns with a brand new EP  ‘HEATWAVE’ 
 
Claptrap’s first release of 2020 comes from Longhair, a Berlin based project formed of two Renate residents Marko Pelaic (Homeboy) & Bene Bogenberger (1/2 of Peak & Swift). The release follows on from their 12" on Renate Schallplatten last year, alongside a previous EP for Bordello A Parigi and remixes for PBR Streetgang’s new imprint. 
 
The Heatwave EP features 3 floor-ready original tracks plus a remix of the title track by Johannes Albert (Frank Music, Fine). The title track ‘Heatwave’ gets things off to a dreamy start with lush pads and a tight rolling tropical percussion. A2 '80s Haircut' follows up with a thumping four to the floor groove and hypnotic bass line to keep the floor packed. Johannes Albert’s take on Heatwave heads up side 2, turning the dreamy vibe into a more upfront euphoric prime-time house stomper. The final cut ‘Pizzamouse' a more relaxed slice of melodic house sees the release out in style with dancing rubbery synth lines which is sure to get those feet moving.

Searching for new ways to express himself, Maarten Smeets (one half of Detroit Swindle) has found a new perspective on music in his alter ego “Wanderist”. Here, he shares his unique view on contemporary electronic music with strong influences from dub, electro, techno and ambient in tempo’s that match the intensity, funk and drive of his sound. 

We feature Dauwd's remix of the title track 2r2t, which fizzes into action from the off. The bassline meanders around the mix in a ferocious yet controlled manner, driving the track forward throughout, whilst serving as the primary melodic device. Shades of Wanderist's original are brought through and warped by Dawud, showcasing once more his adept nous for reimagination. One for club IRL but it works just fine for transporting you there for now.
