For their third release, Akoya Circles looks inward and outward to the dancefloor, as label head Look Like serves up three tracks of laser-precision electro, and their most striking release yet. The South America via Zurich producer’s minimalist style forges deceptively simple elements together into highly effective arrangements. Across a trio of fluid and nebular tracks, surface dreaminess give way to irresistible rhythms. 

Giving the EP it’s title, as well as establishing it’s aquatic electro feel, Dreamwaterz itself bubbles away confidently, eventually dipping into weirder, deeper oscillations as it progresses, yet never losing a psychedelic, loose-limbed and ultimately party friendly feel. Following this introduction, Amnesia is a fat bottomed production with a lose, jazzy feel but plays its cards right for the dancers when revealing a crafty rhythm just below the surface, one that cycles effortlessly from breakbeats to surging 4/4, each time with a teasing quality.

Two years ago Credit 00 was lucky enough to find a flat with a winter garden in the midst of the city's concrete vastness. Setting up his studio there, surrounded by plants, facing the backyard oasis with its trees, bushes and birds singing all day was quite the opposite of his usual work environment. 

The contrast of being in nature whilst surrounded by an urban neighbourhood is explored on Credit 00's latest outing on Uncanny Valley. Two different settings represented on either side of the vinyl record. 

The street side of the building is Credit 00's typical habitat: rough drums, face melting acid and ghetto style track arrangement. R U READY 2 JACK pays tribute to Belgium New Beat and wants to sound like Hardcore that is coming from the heart. TRUE 2 THE GEHM is an ode to one of the true German Acid innovators, Andreas Gehm (R.I.P.), originally written in 2016 for a compilation, which raised money to help him cover expenses incurred due to his severe health issues. 

The backyard side reveals the influence of flora and fauna on Credit 00's work. On both THE GARDEN and DEEP IN THE JUNGLE, you can hear his synthetic interpretation of mother nature's repertoire. Birds chirping, acid frogs croaking and the wind blowing through the trees to the sound of jungle drums. 

Despite all the differences between the concrete and the green jungle, there are also a lot of similarities. As the artwork (hand-drawn by Credit 00 himself) illustrates, graffiti spreads all over buildings like wild vine grows on rocks: chaos reigns everywhere, whether in natural or man-made environments!

If I am being honest, there isn't a whole lot that I know about INDEX:Records. Apparently, they are a record label that was started in 2017 and consists of artists from Manchester, Berlin, and Auckland. Self-described as "confusing af," INDEX:Records are clearly a group that doesn't take themselves too seriously. However, the level of in which they give absolutely no fucks should be commended. I honestly haven't laughed this hard researching a label in quite some time. For god's sake, their about page reads:

"The future is Cyborg Orgy. We, with machines, are penetrating and generating. We metabolise our instruments, giving them life and personifying them for our own devices. It is the conscious touch which has the ability to awaken the complexities of these mechanisms and arouse their own personalities."

How can you not fall in love with these guys? In all seriousness though, label heads Con + Mos actually release some highly original and experimental music. Their seventh record, which comes out today, features new music from Berlin producer Ike Zwanikken, simply known as "Ike." Featuring two original compositions and a remix by GOD69, the lads seem to be putting all that robot fucking they're doing to good use. A great example of this is Ike's "Kiwami Formed," which you can listen to above. Although elements of the song are quite futuristic and mechanical in nature, the tune still manages to exude a level of sexiness that's undeniably human. Take into account it's break-dancing assortment of electro wobbles and energetic drum patterns, it's only a matter of time before "Kiwami Formed" will have you up, dancing, and all hot and bothered.
