Germany’s Koelle steps up to make his XYZ debut in alluring fashion. The classically trained musician out of Ingolstadt has made waves in recent years, with thoroughbred projects on the likes of Anjunadeep, Lane 8’s This Never Happened, and Needwant. The constant collaborator is joined by a stellar team on the Fall in Time EP, with vocalist Margret and producer Into The Ether each deeply involved throughout the release.

Koelle turns the dial as he takes the reins on a solo production. A boisterous synth steals the show, as its choppy nature and understated grit leave a searing impression. Margret returns to ask the question at the center of it all - Is it Love? Indeed it is.

When the stars align and you bring together one of Italy's most well-known deep house producers and one of Berlin's hottest underground record labels, spectacular things happen. The skills of Aki Bergen are warmly welcomed, in putting forth Steyoyoke's latest EP and it is without a doubt a joyous occasion. 'Serpentine' is a three track EP that shines plenty of Aki's illustrious light and flawless ear for quality productions.

Just as the title suggests, 'Serpentine' is an audio crusade of the adventurous kind. Filled with twists, turns, dips and dives, it has a seductive quality that is irresistible to any deep house fan. The bass line is punchy and vigorous, exploiting every opportunity to make you frolic along with every beat. Combine this with an uplifting melody that locks you into cruise control and you have a fine recipe for an enjoyable musical escapade.

Track two is called 'First Glimpse' and it has a more chilled vibe to it. Sitting almost on the edge of a blissful daydream and a moment of fond reminiscence, this track oozes such a glow, that you can't help but smile when you are graced with its gifts. Melodic by nature, it entwines your senses with smooth percussion and some very unique static sounding elements, which create a beautiful organic atmosphere.

'Helix' is the third and final track and it finishes the EP off with a rapture of down tempo quirkiness and raw minimal techno grooves. Embracing an industrial somewhat mechanical ambience, it niggles at you with a commanding style of energy and invites you in with its rhythmic boldness. Each beat is meticulous and every synth line methodical, steering you towards the dark side and capturing your inner wickedness.

Get Physical co-founders M.A.N.D.Y continue to rework and remix their recent LP ‘Double Fantasy’ LP, this time round it’s ‘Rabbit Mountain’ which gets two interpretations from the duo and another from Gerd Janson. 
Up first on the package and premiered here is the ‘Rework’ version of ‘Rabbit Mountain’ which sees M.A.N.D.Y deliver a smooth and melodious take on the original, laying down seven minutes of metallic percussive chimes, rumbling subs and emotive string melodies. Gerd Janson steps up to follow, turning ‘Rabbit Mountain’ into an acid frenzy with squelching 303 bass licks acting as the driving force whilst shuffled rhythms and the original’s bell sounds ebb and flow throughout. Lastly M.A.N.D.Y deliver another mix to close the package, this time round entitled the ‘8 AM Version’ and as the name would suggest it’s aimed at those euphoric early morning moments on dance floors, doused with dreamy atmospherics and emotive string progressions.

We Are The Brave launched 2019 with Alan’s biggest release to date, the gargantuan 7 track ’11:11 The Awakening’ truly laying the path for a mega year ahead. With the House Party tour now firmly an annual fixture for the label, its family of artists have steadily been growing with some key releases along the way from Darius Syrossian, Reset Robot, Boxia, Gary Beck, Skream and Alan’s collab with Sasha.

Ronnie Spiteri has been one of those artists who has played many of the showcases over in the UK, and alongside Alan in Ibiza last summer for Do Not Sleep as one of their residents. ‘Talking To Nature’ marks his second EP on the label and also We Are The Brave’s 30th release!

The title track kicks things off on this EP with punctuating kick drum and scintillating hats. The track has a house inspired piano hook which makes its groove nostalgic and infectious. A mega big room breakdown hits just right, no doubt making this a festival hit.

“The EP is definitely one of my strongest releases to date – Talking To Nature was inspired by a Richy Ahmed track that I heard Nick Curly play at Time Warp; it was one of those inspirational moments that turns into a productive studio session and with Danny Howard premiering it on his BBC Radio 1 ADE special, it definitely came out as I hoped it would” says Ronnie

‘Spirits’ brings a pulsating low end with warmth and energy, whilst synth stabs boom alongside the sexy vocal hits, with a truly atmospheric breakdown. ‘Trust Yourself’ is a strong yet subdued track based around a really nice hook, some spoken style vocals and a heavy kick drum. 

"Ronnie is proving to be an unstoppable force, coined by friends and colleagues as “ronstoppable”, his music is powerful and full of swing. A true hero amongst the brave crew and an integral part of our vision" adds Alan.

For her Power Plant imprint's first release in the past 17 months, Swedish DJ-producer La Fleur starts off 2019 with her outstanding 'Aphelion' EP - a two-track release filled with conviction and spirit.

Ahead of its release, La Fleur has handed the EP's title-track over to Mixmag for a premiere. Explaining the thought process behind her latest creation, she tells us: “Aphelion is the point in the orbit when the planet is the farthest from the sun, so I wanted to give this an otherworldly vibe with the chords and the melody loop.”

Premiere: La Fleur 'Aphelion'

The reflective and psychedelic dream world of Footprintz debut LP ‘Escape Yourself’ is fully unleashed on the Visionquest imprint this March and next single ‘Uncertain Change’ is one of the twelve glowing examples of the duos’ esteemed sonic and lyrical wonder. Reworked here by two of dance music’s finest auteurs, Audion aka Matthew Dear and Maceo Plex ride in full effect.

With a distinct coming of age theme, ‘Uncertain Change’ is a perfect slice of dreamy synth-pop. Anchored by a powerful bassline, uplifting melodies inflected with new wave nostalgia blend into softly spoken vocals heavy with melancholy as the underlying sense of what it feels like to be young and unsure is ever present. Warped electric guitar strums add to a creeping darkness, but this is kept at bay by an overriding warmth and depth of soul that filters through. ‘Uncertain Change’ will transport the listener to an age of innocence.

The ‘Maceo Plex Reconception’ is endowed with the producers signature swing. Tailored for the disco, skipping pendulum beats and a heavier bass beat underpin the in tact phrasing of the original song leading up to a breakdown and powerful bassline drop.

In The ‘Audion Loves You Mix’ Mathew Dear in his Audion guise deconstructs the song and pieces it back together with an entirely transformative minimal tapestry of sounds. An epic reimagining of sparse electronic bleeps and warped vocals build into a majestic framework of fizzing tension and textured soundscapes. Ultimately remnants of the original melody fuse with Audion’s epic groove as the track surges towards an optimistic end.
