French producer Matthieu Faubourg’s assured, melodic take on the deep house template has appeared on labels like Sure Cuts, Neo Vinyl and W&O Street Tracks, and the subtle melodic charms of his 2017 ‘Please, Stay’ from the 4 track ‘Fair’ compilation EP on STRCTR records has currently notched up 3.5 million views on YouTube.Matthieu produces house music with depth, musicality and soul, his efficient and confident production chops creating tight, effective tracks where conflicting textures rub up against each other and melodies take intriguing twists and turns.

He’s spent the last twelve months in Vienna, writing and recording his new album ‘Simplicity Is The Ultimate Sophistication’ for Jazzy Couscous records, the album title taken from a Leonardo Da Vinci quote. The emotive ‘Winter Will Be Long’ kicks things off, setting the tone for a set of carefully crafted, emotive house tracks, characterised by a production style that is sometimes clean, crisp and precise, sometimes gritty, raw and almost glowing with warmth.

French producer Matthieu Faubourg (@matt-schro) has been making some serious waves for himself over the last couple of years with a series of classy deep house cuts released via some great labels including Sure Cuts, Neo Vinyl and W&O Street Tracks. 

His latest project is a full artist album for Japanese label @jazzy-couscous. Featuring nine original cuts and a Byron The Aquarius remix. Jazzy Couscous is a Tokyo based label founded in 2014 by Alixkun and Klodio.  Mainly focused on club-oriented House & Techno, also re-issuing rare and under the radar Japanese music. Their most praised work so far being their comp project “House...Once upon a time in Japan”, curated by both Alixkun and Brawther, showcasing forgotten Japanese house heroes.  After a series of crossover EPs mixing reissues and remixes by artists like Kuniyuki, Hugo LX, Brawther or DJ Steaw, Alixkun released two volumes of “Kumo No Muko”, double albums comps of 80s Japananese ambient synth-pop, which I know a lot of you loved.
French producer Matthieu Faubourg is a name you will have have heard. He was involved in the ‘Fair EP’ on STRCTR Records - a Various Artist compilation that included Dubstriker, Harrison BDP and MonooZ. Faubourg's debut album on Jazzy Couscous sees him express deeper shades of his personality. Taking almost a year to compose and written in Vienna, the first track produced was “Winter will be long”.  It announces the long and cold winter nights coming over the city and the atmosphere that it creates. The snow, the cold, the fog, the empty streets. The album was created around the central idea of sobriety.  Matthieu's plan was to conjure up a soundtrack that envelops body and soul, like a journey for the mind.  In particular ‘If You Care' that features German vocalist Meggy.
 "Simplicity Is The Ultimate Sophistication" is not only the title of this album, it’s a quote from Leonardo Da Vinci which resonates with Matthieu. He feels that beauty and joy can be found in simplicity.
The album comes complete with an energetic remix from man of the moment Byron The Aquarius, who adds his groove, swing and rhythm, taking the track to the club.

Returning to French label Happiness Therapy is Vancouver based producer @jesse-bru, with his first LP in 9 years ! Influenced by early 90’s hip-hop’s use of samples, Jesse Bru’s sample-heavy music production style is highlighted in this diverse 15 tracks release spanning from Anthemic Summery House to Jazzy Emotional Electro.

This double vinyl album welcomes you with a dreamy opening track, leading into 3 heady raw houses tracks with jazzy keys, high paced breaks, and nostalgic trance chords. On the flip side, there are 3 breathtaking tracks ranging from soulful uplifting breaks to introspective emo electro demonstrating Jesse Bru’s extensive knowledge of a diversity of genres.

On the second vinyl we get to hear the deeper side of the release with 4 deep after hours tracks that vary from minimal dub vibes, bumping chicago house to astral drum and bass. On the reverse side closing out the LP are 4 tracks with 2 powerful female vocal driven tracks with deep melancholic grooves and an uplifting anthemic house track to finish off the LP.

The Coast LP is set for release on December 11, 2020 and will come as a double vinyl release with silver pantone cover and an exclusive holographic sticker.
