Martin Horntveth, otherwise known as Norwegian electronica producer Gouldian Finch - returns with an exceptional remix package featuring some of the most exciting and talented Norwegian, electronic music talent. Taking on the remix duties for his album track “Natas Kaupas” is none other than nu-disco royalty Lindstrøm and rising electronic talent Pow Pow.


Written in inspiration and named after one of Martin’s favourite skateboarders, Gouldian Finch explains that Natas Kaupas is “mainly based on a bass riff that can be perceived in two different tempos and about 50/50 of the band members play the tempo that sounds right in their head.“


The original track is a testament to the creativity and unique approach Martin takes to making music, passionately breaking down sonic boundaries of what “should” be done. Lindstrøm of course, then gives the track an exceptional Nu-Disco makeover in true Norwegian style. He explains he “wanted to try to strip it down to the bone and then rebuild it with a few but selected musical components. I ended up using a lot of the bassparts, the lovely strings plus of course Martin's drums. I am very satisfied with the resultant think it has become an interesting contrast to the original without losing the intense nerve, essence and soul of the original recording” - Lindstrom


With the Pow Pow remix, you can hear the lower tempo electronica building throughout the track. The strings are still prevalent, but theres a more laid back feel to the remix. Pow Pow explains “Our remix is a musical homage to the Oslo disco and the era when Oslo was the world’s epicentre of electronic dance music.The remix is built around the “disco strings” from the original and a RolandJuno106. To be invited into Martin’s musical universe, fantastic and bonkers as it is, has been so cool!” - Pow Pow


About Gouldian Finch


Martin Horntveth's illustrious career includes co-founding the globally celebrated band Jaga Jazzist and contributing to the success of The National Bank. He has showcased his production prowess across a diverse range of artists, including DumdumBoys, deLillos, Malin Pettersen, Jim Stärk, and Wizrd, among others. Beyond his musical endeavors, he has composed and produced music for television series like "Himmelblå", "Estonia", "Mammon" and "Twin", and has made significant contributions to the film industry, including "For vi er gutta" and the Oscar-nominated documentary "Do Not Split". Gouldian Finch marks another remarkable chapter in his illustrious career.


Martin says, "I've been contemplating creating this album since the early 2000s, but the process has always been interrupted by some better-paying gig or project. Most importantly, I've spent a lot of time trying to "land" on a sound that would encompass everything. It was only when I decided to put everything I love into the same pot that it clicked, and it made sense to release the music.

One of the most consistent new labels around, Cyphon Recordings, marks double figures with another standout release that gleans from the past but faces the future. This time they look to the talents of Emotive Technology, a new alias from Chilean Massiande who provides a five-track EP of machine-wielding, soul-rousing techno from across the spectrum. Although this may be the first release under his new moniker, Massiande has spent the last decade putting out productions with labels such as Housewax, Phonica, Freerange and Groovin. 
 
Firing on all cylinders from the get-go, ‘Rise’ kicks off the Walk Into The Light EP. A hyperspace melding of new beat, Italo and arp-operating techno that opens out into a slice of peak-time revelry. The swirling textures of ‘It’s On’ follow, pushing you into the next dimension. A hypnotic, entrancing, and arresting heads-down powerhouse. Crunchy and considered it's the kind of strobe-stuttering basement jam that turns heads inside out. Two Detroit-leaning tracks ‘Your Zone’ and ‘Walk Into The Light’ are up next. The former is a heavyweight machine workout. Layered synth lines and crisp drum programming transfix, as that grooving low-end powers bodies into bedlam. The latter, a Motor-City-influenced tour de force. One that sees Massiande recode the circuitry to hit with a piano-laden stunner, balancing power and presence, with emotion and nuance.  Closing out ‘The Swing’ sucks you in deeper. GC's first reference, titled “Enter the Wild” is stuffed with elements brought together to create a mix of percussion, groove, and excitement, an after-midnight fiesta combining Anastasia Zems’s massive vocal talent with what the label’s creator, Mike Sacchetti had envisioned probably influenced by a tribal dance he saw in a movie and a long bike ride home.

Both stepped out a bit from their living room couch to deliver something fresh to the sound of Indie Dance. And as if it wasn’t confusing enough to your expectations, two special guests came to spend the evening at the remix department: the french based Moroccan rooted artist Zaatar widens the sound spectrum while spitting out cosmic dust with a slow builder re-interpretation piece of “The World’s a Dream”, ultimately to hand it over to Berlin’s established producer Radial Gaze to properly fuel the rocket with an acid energized version just tailored for the peak time enthusiasts.

Serhii Kadiristy is a long-time Regulardisco formation member and now a label owner sets the tone with a spring release ""Sensory Spaces"" EP for the summer release season on Regulardisco. The EP balances between eclectic dance melodies and abstractly tropical sounds. This is the type of music that Ukrainian electronic scene lacks drastically; that’s what moved Kadiristy towards starting a label.

The EP is four original tracks written between February and April 2024 (except ""Vortex"" previously, which was available on the compilation by the label System - the version on this release is slightly rebuilt and got a fresh remaster). Additionally, there's a spacy “emotional support” remix for the title track by Lauer and a harder club adaptation of “Apex” by Bawrut.

The idea uniting these tracks is the continuation of the search for peace in a complex time for everyone and the continuation of Serhii's electronic experiments. The story goes the full circle here - from dreamy intro “Death in Bloom” to a clubby tribal piece by Bawrut.

Cover art is by Odesa-based artist Olga Rodzik, who’s been working with Regulardisco on the event’s posters and now continuing the collaboration with the label.

Cacos brings to life his exquisite dream-lover “Sarah”, a dark & mystic techno combined whith elements of obscure chant rhythms - it’s Sarah. San Y Mayo closes the 4-song compilation marching from the sea into the jungle - you might know what to expect but it doesn’t mean it’s there. Legal cara!
