There was much to explore here in the forest - either on foot or by boat - these pathways and meandering bodies of water had seen more than any human had in their lifetime. It felt magical and otherworldly out here, nothing but nature enveloping you in its wonders, but how long before it would fade away? How long before it would be wounded and ravaged? Or had the damage already been done...

Ruinas boss Black Pomade is gearing up for the launch of a brand new series called Manzo Edits for, you guessed it, a carefully curated selection of edits from friends and peers. For the debut release he invites WONDER, AEF and DHP AKA Life Dee to feature alongside him, as they all put their own stamp on a disparate sounds and styles. Every edit is primed for club play, but there's a bit of something for everyone. It launches with dark, percussive synth-pop before settling into a funky old school breaks and chugging acid grooves, all rounded off with a disco house edit to get the floor moving.

Italian DJ and producer Fango launched his E Dee series last June dedicated to a life-changing event that had taken place a few years prior: the birth of his first child Carlo. Each release explores the world his son sees but communicated through Fango's own eyes (and ears). Now on volume two, and with Peruvian imprint Degustibus on board this time, he shares three cosmic, driving grooves that take their titles from Carlo's own vocabulary, while the artwork uses Carlo's mouth as the image for the centre sticker and his own drawing for the inner sleeve. Soul Of Hex is comprised of Emanuel and Gerardo Cedillo. The two young producers, DJs and multi-instrumentalists from Mexico, are involved with Tijuana’s ‘new rave’ scene establishment and have run Vicario Musique Recordings for over a decade. Their talent and love for music production was spotted by Larry Heard himself in 2014, who remixed Lip Reading, a track from their EP on CVMR.

This crucial collaboration particularly boosted Soul Of Hex’s popularity and their schedule has been very busy ever since. Soul Of Hex’s Phuria EP counts as number fourteen on Massimiliano Pagliara’s Funnuvojere Records. It is a collection of five pieces of exquisite production.

The title track is an Italo house piano belter with an acid character ready to provide ecstatic dance floor moments. The contrast between the wonky bass lines and the rarefied strings creates an ethereal yet euphoric atmosphere in ‘Luxor' and 'Sunday Sunday', two funk tracks imbued with romanticism. 'Voodoo Warrior' comes as a surprise: it is a peak time progressive house banger defined by a futuristic approach. Closing the EP 'Phuria (Acido Corrosivo)' is a stripped down version of the original title track, for acid heads only!
