The label El Triańgulo is operated by Quinn Lamont Luke, sometimes known as Bing Ji Ling, and an original member of the Phenomenal Handclap Band. Created as a home for his own productions and for music from friends around the globe, the label touches elegantly upon a wide spectrum of musical genres, from serious basement dancefloor fillers to soft, sweet, acoustic, singer-songwriter offerings of loveliness.
In March of 2023, El Triańgulo released North Satellite’s debut full-length album ‘Past Life Half-Lived’. As a reference point, think Compass Point Studios in Nassau - the birthplace of Tom Tom Club, Thompson Twins, and the Grace Jones masterpieces - and Wally Badarou, who is one of North Satellites most favourite inspirations. The album marries live instrumentation and a wide array of tones and colours that bring ‘Past Life Half-Lived’ to life, resulting in a subtly sublime sonic listening experience. It was mixed down by fellow cosmic traveller and purveyor of only the good stuff, Darshan Jesrani, who has assisted North Satellite along his journey, as well as releasing North Satellite’s ‘A Rising Sign’ on Darshan’s own Startree imprint. 
As a youngster growing up in Seattle, North Satellite aka Eugene Tambourine, was fascinated by the north satellite of Sea-Tac International Airport. That terminal was a portal to mystical adventures and airplane flights that ferried families to and from the East Coast onto new adventures in distant lands.  
 
Here North Satellite reworks his original album arrangement with a nod to New York’s Fun House club of the mid ‘80s. This new EP is a collection of remixes of ‘The Stars Are Ours’, the track lifted from the 2023 album, with a remix by Conrad of the Idjut Boys. Across the Atlantic ocean, Conrad renders a deadly groove which evokes the sonic landscapes of the Orb if they were to shimmy their way through a carnival setting. The sublime ‘Cosmic Freestyle’ versions complete this starry package, they were mixed down by master of time Darshan Jesrani and mastered by Paul Gold.

Jassu dear friends and music lovers! Let's welcome the Greek DJ and production duo Boys' Shorts!

After releases on labels like Permanent Vacation, HE.SHE.THEY, Cormac’s Polari Records or Future Disco, after remixes for Alison Goldfrapp, Yuksek w/ Polo & Pan, Kasper Bjørke, Boy George or Casey Spooner (Fischerspooner), we're more than proud to add them to our LIVE AT ROBERT JOHNSON family circle!

The duo consisting of Vangelis (formerly of LAGASTA aka »Last Gas Station«) and electronic recording artist Tareq are purveyors of the fine art of including a little bit of everything in their DJ sets - and in their productions: Be it house or slow techno, be it disco or acid - their main goal is to »make people dance!«. With this new 3-track release they definitely won't take any prisoners.

And what a way to start with the title track »On The High Line«: A fantastic Euro-Wave-Disco-type tune featuring the über-cool spoken word voice of DJ City. Think early to mid 80ies Berlin (or London … or any other European city around that time), think of neon lights, think of ice cold nights and hot 'n' sweaty clubs - yes, we know, it sounds like a cliché … but hell yeah, this tune is a CHOON. And anybody who doesn't move his behinds to it must surely be dead.

Let's go to our »Dark Room Rendez-Vous« next. The boys stay instrumental for this one - maybe because there's no need to talk in a dark room … This dark room though really ain't too dark at all. It shines bright with light positive synth lines and a steady uplifting beat. It might even sound more like a visit to your local sauna when you're sitting in that bubbly whirlpool for relaxation purposes. Yet also: No prisoners were taken here.

»All Over« starts with hard synth stabs, followed by a beautiful electro beat until the 4-to-the-floor bass drum hits hard - very hard. Here too we find these uplifting positive synthesizer melodies the boys so easily manage to put in their productions. And isn't a huge portion of positivity, not something we need these days? Come on! We need it ALL OVER!

Boys’ Shorts toured around Europe over the last years, playing in world-renowned venues such as Berghain/Panorama bar and London’s E1, opened for Hot Chip and will hopefully play at Robert Johnson very soon. In the meantime let's put on our shorts and go for a walk on the high line - or go to the dark room …

DJ and producer Art Alfie offers a energetic kraut disco-tinged dance version of Intercellular Communication, a track off of AUTORHYTHM’s 2023 album Songs for the Nervous System. Added vocalisations and sound effects add an eerie vibe not dissimilar to Nurse With Wound’s reworking of Stereolab on Simple Headphone Mind, and a gradual transformation sees elements of the original track taking on Moroder like qualities, before ending in a gloriously pounding Conrad Schnitzler-like groove.

AUTORHYTHM is a music/science/art project by Swedish artist Joakim Forsgren. His unique brand of electronica builds on a dynamic mix of driving rhythms and meditative soundscapes. It is at times suggestive of genres like IDM, techno, New Wave or Krautrock, but always unquestionably an entity of its own. Conceptually the music deals with the inner workings of the human body and how it is affected by frequencies of light and sound. That said, there is an openness and ambiguity to the music that opens it to both micro and macro perspectives, the songs lend themselves equally as well to interplanetary space travel as neurons firing electrical signals along our neural pathways.

London techno label 199 returns with its first release of 2024, and the fifth in its now coveted ‘Exchange’ series. With support from the likes of Ben UFO, Laurent Garnier, Voigtmann, Ivan Smagghe, and LUXE on its previous editions, the series ascends into a heavier realm with its latest volume. 

The two-track EP marks a debut for Ukrainian producer Vitya Payalnik, who serves up a darkly whimsical take on bass-heavy electro house on the B-side, while the A is handled with an assured swagger by Jovak, who returns for his second consecutive release with 199.

GC's first reference, titled “Enter the Wild” is stuffed with elements brought together to create a mix of percussion, groove, and excitement, an after-midnight fiesta combining Anastasia Zems’s massive vocal talent with what the label’s creator, Mike Sacchetti had envisioned probably influenced by a tribal dance he saw in a movie and a long bike ride home.

Both stepped out a bit from their living room couch to deliver something fresh to the sound of Indie Dance. And as if it wasn’t confusing enough to your expectations, two special guests came to spend the evening at the remix department: the french based Moroccan rooted artist Zaatar widens the sound spectrum while spitting out cosmic dust with a slow builder re-interpretation piece of “The World’s a Dream”, ultimately to hand it over to Berlin’s established producer Radial Gaze to properly fuel the rocket with an acid energized version just tailored for the peak time enthusiasts.
