@Medusa-Odyssey are the latest addition to the @NeinRecords roster with ‘Pahm’.

Medusa Odyssey are a dj / producer duo who perform live with synthesizers, electric guitar, flutes, vocals and drum machine. In Ibiza they have been playing in parties like WooMooN at Cova Santa, Heart Factory at Heart, El Row at Space and Rebels Cave at Sankey’s amongst others. Further afield, they have travelled to festivals all over the world from India to Argentina and everywhere in between.

Their debut release on Nein features a singular original in ‘Pahm’ with 4 guest remixes coming from Mufti, Alinka, Concret and @Paresse.

The latter also known by Ivan Berggren is from Stockholm and has previous history on Nein, as well as recognised labels such as Eskimo, Magic Feet and Correspondent. Here he delivers a fantastic rework which really stood out on an already high quality release.

https://soundcloud.com/sinchicollective is a not for profit label that donates all proceeds to their own foundation, supporting the preservation of indigenous culture. After two fantastic releases already, the third offering is a various artists compilation that shows off the label’s broad array of sounds from producers all over the world.

Up first is a rising star and Milan based selector, Tagliabue. He takes stylistic cues from the natural environment around him and breaks down genre boundaries. His ‘Canto Nativo’ is a brilliantly tropical bit of chugging disco with breezy pads but twisted bass.

Gimel connects ambient, psychedelic sounds with deep, melodic moods, he plays at renowned clubs such as Opium and runs the ‘Samsara’ events in Vilnius. Here he offers ‘Dobilelis’ a superbly transcendental cut that is littered with vocal chanting and rugged bass riffs that really cast a spell.

Raised in the heart of the Middle East, Rabih delivers ‘Bowing Pill’, a track moulded by rolling synths, heavy drums and a hypnotic flow that stimulates your body and brain.

Mexican Braulio Renteria draws on dark disco and is inspired by futuristic, deep and unique rhythms. He offers the vital ‘Venus’, a moody and heavyweight cut with punky attitude and cosmic keys making for a real trip.

Play Pal Music founder Teniente Castillo who has a rich history of releases on labels such as Ombra Intl, Relish and Nein amongst others, delivers ‘Personality Goes a Long Way’ . This is sci-fi, low slung machine music with retro flavours which has a compelling starkness in the hits and synths.

Last of all, Andreja Salpe and Filip Polski aka BarumBarum follow up on the success of their ‘Ritual’ EP released on the same label by closing out the fantastic compilation with the desert chants and rugged drum work of ‘Sensation.’

This is a widely infused collection of disco tracks that take you around the world with a real sense of style.

After his 2015 stomper EP on Correspondant, Max Jones makes his debut on Mexican imprint Duro with a 2 original plus 2 remixes EP. The artist that shook the dance floors with tracks like "Slow" and "Cornetto" returns to the battlefield after 4 years of silence with a renovated, warmer sound.

"Perisur" is a sinister yet salacious, heavy-breathbing Detroit workout, that sees an unlikely cocktail of elements come together and writhe ecstatically in it’s dark, deviant energy. A quiet and confident menace drives the whole track, tightening it’s grip on the listener with every beat, so that by the closing bars, you’ve somehow managed to volunteer full surrender to Perisur"’s unsettling and uncertain fate.

Max treats us to a second original production in the shape of "Poche". Built on an unrelenting combination of kick, snare and quivering sub-bass - it’s actually the humble melodic riffs that pass in and out of proceedings, the eerie, semi-harmonius whistles and the murky, haunting voices criss-crossing - that represent the true and unassuming genius of this intriguing gate-loaded heater.

Jepe delivers the second re-working of "Perisur" creating an unfussy and rapidly addictive, swing-loaded groove, that stoically stalks the stave, and struts it’s sure-footed strut. That is, until the devastating analogue hum of dark Detroit waves appear on the horizon, quickly growing into looming towers of seductive, enveloping noise.

Before closing the door, the dark mist then lifts to reveal Cornelius Doctor Emotion and his playful, yet focussed, laser-sighted Discophony; where echo chamber drums, twitched-up melodies, hazy synths and friendly acid gurgles combine to create this unstoppable atmosphere and sense of determination so strong you’ll be down the park challenging your PB in no time.

Since Biesmans made his debut on AEON last year with his “A Long Road” EP, he has continued to build a profile and musical output that is both exciting and ground breaking. So it’s with great pleasure that we welcome him back to the label for his follow up EP “Top Gun”

Biesmans has decided to showcase two subtly different versions of the title track “Top Gun”. Version 1 is a stunningly produced lo-fi disco workout with nod to 80’s synth classics. A dynamic bass line underpins a delightfully simple but effective groove and delicious melodies. Version 2 is similar in it’s approach but is perhaps a little more strident. Biesmans said “I often make several versions of a track when I’m writing and then focus in on a particular version. In this case I couldn’t decide so I figured let’s release both!'
“Dr Electric” is a more melancholy in it’s approach, with a broken beat, subtle synths and vocodered vocals taking centre stage, with almost blissful prog rock leanings in places.

Remix duties are taken up by Permanent Vacation head honcho and AEON favorite Benjamin Fröhlich and Italian duo Phunkadelica.
Both have chosen to tackle “Dr Electric” and the results are sublime. Fröhlich’s approach stays closest to the original but employs a tougher breakbeat as the foundation for his version, borrowing heavily from the synth content before delivering a driving bass line to take the track into peak time territory. Phunkadelica’s more traditional progressive house style treatment serves up a more hypnotic mix with a galloping baseline and an ever evolving layered style that draws in the listener until a breakdown delivers the spin tingling moments.

Another perfectly balanced EP from the AEON crew with something to satisfy all palates.

It’s back… Amassing heat every other month without fail, the V/A series has been a reassuring consistent source of dark, unbounded acid house and disco action. And for ‘Muy Duro 4’, the ante is raised again…

Heavier, more focused and more pensive than previous collections, for this ‘Muy Duro’ edition the pace and tone is set by a stone cold don Dino Lenny. An Italian legend across all techno disciplines, for ‘What A Sound’ he strips things back to their bare rumbling essentials with a twist of classic new romance intrigue.

He’s in good company… Austrian / Turkish duo Hanzo & Yaman follow up with the brain-tickling technoid ricochets of ‘Boonmee’ before Cabizbajo brings the murky melting pot back home to Mexico for a warped slab of rough-and-ready bass-licked tech.

Finally in the fourth and most forthright ‘Muy Duro’ collection we see Theus Mago link with good friend Persona for demonstrative acid stomp. And we could all do with a stomp right now, right?
