PREMIERE: DJ Hoshino - Rush [Mood of the Era]

Escaped Records returns with a new release, fruit of the collaboration with Bobby Terrestrial from Welsh Street Heat and label manager Jarod Esc. Venus EP is composed of two edits, digging deep into forgotten Vietnamese Italo Disco tracks. Both artists partnered on this EP whilst residing in the paradise surroundings of Hoi An, Vietnam. 

Made of 2 tracks, dance floor fillers, with the light touch of carefully crafted synthesiser sounds along with other elements distinctive of the 80’s era. The first track “Venus” embarks the listeners to a flashback into time, revisiting the iconic anthem sprinkled with Vietnamese vocals. The second track of the EP “Just A Boy” focuses on delivering a tight synth melody for the late night movements that sway to the reverberated sounds of the 80’s"

Boblebad Joins badabing diskos with a pair of musical house, indie and disco fusions that come with a remix from Vinny Villbass.

Oslo-based creator Boblebad is an artist in every sense of the word. Blessed with an uncompromising creative vision, the producer, musician, painter and visual artist has been a prolific contributor to the Beatservice catalogue since arriving on the label in 2021. With an evolving sound that's impossible to pigeonhole, he's also released music on Eskimo, Full Pupp and Paper Recordings. Now as he joins the badabing diskos family, he serves up a further selection of vibrant sounds.  'Dream On’ has bubbling bass with echoing and flirtatious vocals. It is a superbly stylish and hypnotic disco house affair with cosmic chords smeared in all directions as the catchy grooves and hip-swinging claps lock you in.  Label boss Vinny Villbass remixes the second original track, ‘Go to Sleep’, delivering a deep club diversion that is perfectly hypnotic. The original of 'Go To Sleep' then closes out the package, a brilliant electronic indie lullaby for late summer insomniacs. It has sumptuous chords and sunny acoustic guitar riffs that bring an intimate and artistic feel to this most roomy and luxurious song.  As always this is a colourful, cosmic and characterful package from badabing diskos.

You knew when you were home; as in really home. It wasn't just the familiar faces sitting on street corners or the comforting sound of the locals selling their goods at the morning market, it was in everything, no matter how big or small. The way the ground crunched underfoot; the smell of the dust kicked up by a thousand feet that clogged up your lungs; the erratic ringing of the small shop as people entered and left in a hurry: he'd missed it all - the good and the bad - perhaps more than he'd realised.

The next release on Cairo's Rakete comes courtesy of a trailblazer in the Egyptian electronic music scene. Under his previous guise Hadayek 303, Molotof was the first Egyptian producer to fuse mahraganat sounds and percussion with shades of acid house and trap music; a musical fusion that was termed 'Molowave' and saw him collaborate with artists like Wegz, Marwan Pablo, Sadat and Fifty. Gabal Ahmar is perhaps his most refined body of work and marks a 'coming of age' moment for the producer. Saturated in his signature mahraganat-influenced synth lines and 808 drum programming, the release cements his reputation as a pioneering voice in Egyptian electronic music.

Five talented Norwegian house producers pull out all the stops on the first Mhost Likely Green V/A EP series, ‘Natural High’, with most venturing into house territory to showcase a different shade of their sonic palette. The four-track EP features familiar faces from previous releases, with some featuring artists new to the label.

Kicking things off with his debut on MHL is Hajem (BCR) with his super slick, funky, sexy deep house track called ‘Lost and Found'. A track prepped with vocal licks, bubbly textures, crisp drum patterns, and irresistible instrumental work. Next, is Keecen, who, following his second EP on MHL - ‘Midnight City Joints’, gives a snapshot of his harder house sounds. Steady beats and snarling bass lines for sweaty clubs. The third track is also a debut on MHL and comes from Struve. A deep house tune with funk-inspired bass stabs injecting playfulness into club materials oozing vibes. Finally, it’s up to the new duo Kim Young iLL and Third Attempt to close proceedings. ‘Save Me’ is an assertive downtempo house-inspired track with an acid melody and cosmic soundscape.

PREMIERE : Revar - Réveil Eternel

Welcome to an aquatic exploration of sound. This new series of EPs invites you to a sonic immersion of different aquatic environments of the world through dub and deep techno as well as break.

For this first release, Boskøw, Martinou, Upwellings and Artos Eleven take us on a poetic and modern adventure of the Mediterranean.

Boskøw starts us off in Samena, a neighbourhood in the Calanque park of Marseille. A precious moment of introspection in the early morning, listening to the waves and voices of the Phocean city.

Leaving the rocky coast of Marseille, Reef Surveyor by Upwelling takes you on a boat ride to watch over the local marine ecosystem. Its faster rhythm conveys the challenge this entails with the increasing impact of climate change.

After a long day out at sea, Martinou’s Anemone sways smoothly with the sea current, interjected by small skanks shining through like rays of light at sunset. However, don’t be fooled - Martinou’s deep layers will slowly take over and entrance you.

Artos Eleven's Baliste evokes a nocturnal excursion between sand and rock. Named after the Mediterranean Triggerfish, its broken rhythms and deep water skanks will bite, leaving you wanting more.

The debut EP from Adelaide based artist Hi, I’m Jack sees the local party promoter expand their Spin Lizzy event series into a brand new record label. With a focus on organic drums and high-pitched bleeps ‘1994’ is a perfect opening salvo and a real statement of intent from this Australian imprint.

The aptly named track ‘acid’ kicks things off with a four to the floor groove and rich 303’s squelching high and low, occasionally broken up by a recurrent, mysterious voice. ‘the dark’ mixes up the formula, adding in intricate textures, lo-fi pads and choral vocals that give off a futuristic yet evocative rave feel.

Serbian born, Los Angeles raised producer and DJ, Masha Mar delivers her debut EP on November 18th, inaugurating the new Southern California based imprint, Night Prism. Across the three-tracker Mar fuses elements ranging from Italo to house to dub, working with live drums alongside drum machines and synths like the Roland TR-808, Juno 60, Moog Voyager and more.

Title-cut ‘Virgil’s Dream’ leads with a feel-good disco feel merging organic percussion and a crunchy drum machine workout alongside hazy, hypnotic vocals, hooky string sequences and squelchy, acid-tinged tones. An instrumental mix is offered up to follow, laying focus on the raw drums and intricate synth work alone.

‘Extended Release’ follows next to open the B-Side, built around thunderous drums, an Italo-inspired bassline, and entrancing synths to take you on a dynamic, dance floor focused journey. Closing out the EP on a deeper tip is ‘City of Refuge’, employing an electro-leaning 808 drum groove and gnarly bass hook alongside bubbling, dubbed- out tones, ethereal vocal chants, and cinematic strings.

We joyfully welcome fellow Glasgow denizen Nightwave to Optimo Music with this three track EP. A long time DJ, producer and label runner, it took just one listen to the transcendent "Prince Of Flowers" to know it was a great fit for the label. It's not unlike a 21st century reboot of something from Chris & Cosey's uber classic "Songs Of Love & Lust" album. Combined with two other, more jacking tracks it makes for an enticing EP. We asked Maya to tell us a little about the release and here’s what she said -

Prince Of Flowers EP is a part of my continuous exploration of tying together electronic production and club culture with my work and study with plant medicines and traditions of the Amazon rainforest. For the last few years I’ve tried to merge the energies, joy and melodies of the two worlds together and see where it takes me. Turns out it all comes from the same place and I’m so excited to share it with you on a label so very special to me.

Well its been a while but amongst the many studio sessions of working on other artists releases as well as lots of video & visual creating we are pleased to shout that our very own Sprechen CEO Chris Massey aka 'Massey' has found the time to drop his 3rd release on the label with 'It's Stretford, Not Berghain'.

Inside My Head sees the mutant disco flags flying high with a twisted Italo synth bass melody of epic throbbing proportions partnered up with the squelchiest of ear worm style synth stabs that goes truly into head mess territory. A proper 2am, peak time serotonin spanker that sounds like Roman Flügel Geht's Noch? having a session with Fad Gadget.

Named after the legendary party spot in South Manchester (if you know then you know), Gnome Terrace sees Massey step into jacking house territory with an initial deeper journey that features some suitably cosmic-esque strings & synth work form the legend that is Dan Wainwright! Oh and it all explodes in a massive hands aloft piano breakdown for a hefty dose of 'wooooowweeeeee!'
