There were some landscapes that simply took your breath away; the kind that made you feel like a tiny speck on this thing we call planet earth. The canyon below was a sight to behold, its huge stone surfaces coated in tones of copper and green. If you squinted hard enough you could trace clusters of tiny humans exploring the winding paths, tunnels and bridges that littered the expanse. It felt somewhat magical or metaphysical; a natural wonder of the world...

It's been almost a decade since Italian producers Rodion and Fabrizio Mammarella teamed up for a collaborative EP on the latter's Slow Motion imprint. Like their first outing, Apennini, back in 2012 this new release proves yet again why these two are a perfect production pairing, fusing their shared love of synthesized melodies and machine-driven funk and disco. The duo continue this across their Sierra Madre EP, which was recorded in Mexico City with a guest appearance from Roam Records and Duro alumni Mijo, and backed by a rework from Italo-Belgian duo Front De Cadeaux.

From Beyond - Where2Now

The house had been barren for years, its moss covered front and cob-webbed windows an instant giveaway. That was until people came in to regenerate the town and suddenly life was breathed into the home once again. Its inside had been refurbished and its windows replaced, but beyond the beautiful facade and the freshly painted walls, there was a sense that something had happened here before; something terrible that would continue to inhabit the house regardless of its revived state.

Amsterdam's Sinchi Collective have spotlighted a ton of new producers from across the globe through their Altered States compilation series, all while raising money for the Sinchi Foundation, which supports Indigenous peoples worldwide. For the sixth volume they bring on board a roster of fresh artists who are bubbling under the surface in their respective cities. The likes of Terra de Ovnis, Sinchi Collective co-founder Ilmo, DeepMe and A-Tweed feature, amongst others, all bringing their own dark and psychedelic flavours that span icy electro, techno-disco and cosmic synth jams.

PREMIERE: Tierra de Ovnis - Spirit Machine [Sinchi]

Seasoned and skilled producer Paco Buggin aka Silicodisco is back to French label Critical Monday! After appearing on Chapters 6, being remixed by Rigopolar, and 10, remixing Etane, this time he partners with Espacio Cielo’s big boss, Parissior (SXDNS206/FREEDL043), to deliver a vital EP for the Dark Disco/Indie Dance lovers out there. The Chapter 13 also brings two imposing remixes by Italian stallion Fabrizio Mammarella and Spanish virtuoso Alex Medina.

The first collaboration between Silicodisco & Parissior happened when Paco, in partnership with Xácome (Rastro Live), made his debut on Espacio Cielo last year. On the occasion, Parissior remixed one of the tracks. A little bit afterwards, the duo delivered a stunning EP on the rising imprint Banshees Records, featuring a solid remix by Kendal. Now on Critical (and hopefully somewhere else very soon), they repeat the formula of combining their darkest & gloomiest influences to bring to life two hellish original cuts. 

The track we were solicited to premiere is undoubtedly one of the best pieces the fruitful alliance has delivered so far. Combining the stamina of Hi-NRG with the attitude of EBM blended with shards of Techno, “Confessions” is one of those themes devoted to triggering frenzied reactions on the dance floor.

Paisley Dark Records are buzzing to annouce the labels fifth release proper, Norra Linjen, a haunting primetime techno bomb by "The Machine Soul" aka Robert Folkesson. This follows previous releases by Dan Wainwraight, From Beyond, UFO Club and the 10” vinyl EP from Matt Gunn. 
Norra Linjen (Northern Lights) is accompanied by two electrifying remixes. The first being from Man2.0 (Nein Records) who delivers an old school techno vibe whislt sounding like the future has arrived early. 
The second remix, the aptly named “Rave Remake mix, courtesy of When Disco Goes Wrong’s head honcho Mindbender, sees chilling synth riffs gliding effortlessly over bubbling 303 acid lines.

PREMIERE : The Machine Soul - Norra Linjen (Mindbender Rave Remake)

Pre-rave jitters had set in; her stomach was doing somersaults and her legs felt like jelly. These feelings were fuelled by excitement and anticipation, but she still had no idea what to expect of the evening, it was all completely new to her. Friends had told her about the wonders of these underground parties but she really had to see it for herself, at the moment it felt like an imaginary utopia, a place too perfect to actually exist...

Swedish producers Viktor and Henrik are the minds behind Elfenberg. Having released music on the likes of Bordello A Parigi, Wrong Era, Trampoliner and Rotten City Records, to name a few, the pair now take their creations to Barcelona's Playground Records for A Cow Called Belle. Harking back to the rave and acid house sounds of the early 90s, the three original cuts marry rolling grooves and squelchy, driving synth lines, which are pushed further into trance-inducing territory by Iñigo Vontier and Juan MacLean who take care of the remixes.

Pinorama is very excited to release this second EP of remixes from Ruben Kielmannsegge's Kingdom! We could call this the "animal ep", as both songs remixed use the animal realm as a metaphore to talk about human behavior.

Now, about the producers and artists here:

Ivan Smoka is a producer and DJ from Madrid now based in Alicante, an artist with a long career and an enviable musical background. His productions are supported by music gurus like Tim Sweeney or Bill Brewster. Projects like Gatos Negros, Disco Felino or Dr3am show that Ivan in the studio is like Spock on the Enterprise, he really knows the machines and speaks to them in a friendly way.

Rubén himself has another aka, Kielmann (the one he uses when he is remixing), one more for his collection of alter egos (Watch TV, Rock Serling, DYOR), undoubtedly the result of having read too many superhero comics in his childhood. Ruben has produced music for a long lists of artists (Quantic, Tony Allen...) and labels (Compost, Schema, Hotel Costes).

Parissior is one of those restless guys who’s always doing things, both as a producer and as a DJ he has done a lot. Since opening one of the most interesting clubs in Salamanca (Clavel Ocho) to founding his own record label (Espacio Cielo) he’s had time to produce for labels and artists from everywhere. Names like Nein, AEON, Melopee, Kendal or Freudenthal are on his list of collaborations.

Cover art is by Chéfer Cúneo, argentinian painter, and it is an intervention on the original cover of the album, like a visual remix. We find that the vision of the artist is very interesting and it goes way beyond the vision of a cool designer, or at least it takes you away from your comfort zone. And we believe that's a good thing.

PREMIERE : Ruben Kielmannsegge - Run (Parissior Remix)

The interesting U’re Guay Records brings to life its Vol. 39 presenting Addi de la Cruz aka Umvral (FREEDL018/046), owner of the dangerous and lethal Mexican label Veneno. Hailing from Mexico City, Umvral has been steadily developing quite a solid work as A&R, DJ, and producer, having achieved both local and international recognition not only because of his undeniable talent but also charisma and competence. His works have already appeared on some of the most respected imprints of the so-called Indie Dance/Dark Disco scene such as Bonkers, Controlla, Logia, Emerald & Doreen, Quixotical, and his very own Veneno, for instance.

For his debut on the Montevideo-based platform, Addi decided to explore his Trance and Techno influences delivering two fat & smelly peak-time originals. On the remixes duties, Aleito, Cu Da Curuxa, and Parallel (SXDNS319) brought their own traits to the party.

Premiered here, “Viva La Trance” is definitely that kind of track that is devoted to wreaking havoc on the dance floor. Its acid and frenzied atmosphere is mainly established by throbbing and nervous synth layers topped with bleepy and playful laser-like sound effects. Yes, the 134-BPM pace helps a lot to set the mood!

Hailing from the catacombs of Paris, Mon cher Guy and Zaratustra are joining forces in this new release! After throwing multiple parties with their collective Orchessons, and releasing tracks on various labels, they decided to gather in the studio to practice some musical witchcraft.
Blending electronic sonorities with some hints of 80s rock, they made extensive use of electric guitars, vintage drums and old-school synthesizers to create a nostalgic and mesmerizing feel. Despite all tracks being set in a dreamy and a nocturnal atmosphere, with the hurling wolves and vampires of « Night Creatures », or the eerie atmosphere of « Incantations », this EP is about melancholy, from « White Magic » opening the dance, full of hope and cheesiness, to the irrevocable « Nevermore » closing it.
Giving a trancy twist to « White Magic », we’re super pleased to welcome Brandski for the first time on the label, with this club-ready remix! And because we couldn't resist putting our fingers in the mix, label boi Austher also gave his epic Italo touch to « Night Creatures »

Dina Summer is a collaborative project of producer Kalipo and DJ-producer couple Local Suicide. Local suicide is Greek native Dina P., one of the first female DJs in Thessaloniki before moving to Berlin, where she met her husband and the other half of Local Suicide. The powerhouse couple made a name for themselves releasing music on labels such as Eskimo Recordings, Lumière Noire and Ombra and have played a crucial part in the rise of the dark disco scene. Meanwhile, Kalipo recently released his critically acclaimed fourth long player on KI Records and is part of the electro-punk band Frittenbude. Here he brings techno undertones to this unique project. Since 2019 the trio have been working together on a special blend of late 90’s electro with elements of 80’s disco and new wave. Their first EP on Iptamenos Discos received widespread praise and received massive support from German radio alongside plays from The Hacker, Digitalism, and Arnaud Rebotini. This distinctive new album’s sound comes from two synthesisers and one microphone. Pounding disco beats under rattling bass sequences. It's a sound with roots in Italo disco classics, new wave and punk combined with electroclash of the noughties but now ready for summer 2022 from the beach to the club. Edgy beats meet striking melodies as perfectly poppy hooks are carried by Dina's unique voice on cuts like 'Mars', and fast, urgent grooves like 'Uranos' offer up fine synth craft. 'Revenge' blends cold revenge fantasies with an 80's inspired electro-pop sound reminiscent of feel-good movies of the era without falling into cliché. 'Zig Zag' races on rugged but colourful disco drums, and 'Mirage' has an intoxicating synth lead with flashes of cosmic brilliance. 'Wunderbar' is a heavy, off-balance stomper with German vocals and warped synths, and the majestic 'Amore' twitches your synapse with its pixelated synths and fast bass. 'Crocodile' is a giant disco pumper with edgy synth and vocal energy. The final and title track conjures up lazy summer vibes on a synthesiser amongst the palm leaves, with Dina's beguiling vocals adding extra escapist magic.
