Tel Aviv’s Red Axes are one of the most exciting new acts in dance music, with rich sound that is musical, deep, trippy and organic, while remaining precise and lethally effective in the club. The range in their sound is impressive, their talent unmistakeable. They are one of our favourite artists of the year, and this latest record is one of their best yet.

Lead track 'Waiting for a Surprise’ builds around a mid-tempo disco bassline, with tough percussion, and rugged synth stabs, but it’s the eerie and unique sounding vocals of Brazilian collaborator Abrao that bring everything together. This one is a guaranteed bomb for building up, tearing down, peak time or chilling out… an outstanding track in every sense, the kind that force trainspotters to the DJ booth to discover what’s playing. Next up, ‘Hope’ kicks off with resonant, delayed toms, adding a haunting howl and synths before dropping into a wild, clanging, carnivalesque frenzy. It’s understated, but advanced, with an interesting arrangement that really opens up in the second half. Finally, 'The Metal Bender’ slows the tempo but ups the vibe into an elated, slow-burning space-disco anthem. Fantastic stuff!

Melbourne’s Kris Baha, fresh from launching his Power Station imprint, offers a stripped down remix of ‘Waiting for a Surprise,’ with a heavy, industrial-influenced groove that wanders into the deep, dark end of party strasse.

7. Younger than me released the highly acclaimed Warning Code EP last year. They also remixed Curses - Her Violence Beauty, so he returned the favor and remixed the title track. Curses added his touch to the Machine Psychedelia of the original. They are an italian duo out of Milano. The production is inspired by Italo Disco, Post-Disco ,
New-Wave , House and Electronic Music with the inevitable 80's twist.

The two Remixers met and became friends back in 2014 in Paris. This is a swift and thunderous collaboration between the two, made in Theus studio in Mexico City. Theus Mago is the alter ego of Mexican producer Mateo González.

For his EP on Roam, Darlyn Vlys offers two new original works. The title track - Bladed - sets the mood with stylish vocals and guitar stabs that hit all the right places. Neo Noir brings the tempo up while keeping the lush soundscape found throughout the EP.  Backing up the originals are two incredible and diverse remixes by Kiwi and Pardon Moi. Kiwi moves Neo Noir in a smooth dreamy direction while Pardon Moi remakes Bladed into full on 80s Italo anthem.

The tenth reference of the digital series of Dogs & Vultures Records is signed by the Mexican producer Montessori aka Alfredo Cardenas in collaboration with the producer,DJ and vocalist Badmoiselle (Montessori is also part of the FLXXX project and the Label Innisfallen Records with Andrés Gomez aka Andrem), . Aircraft Reel and Fanjoyen are the original cuts of the ep, built under a line clearly focused on the dance floor and with a fine balance between the early hours of the night or those of a good after. The remixes come in charge of the Mexicans Rigopolar and Colossio, both well known in the scene and with a great doing in all their productions. Her Majesty's Ship enlist a vital selection of names to remix regular label artist Rubin et le Paradoxe's September EP ‘X Raisons’, and they are Curses, Plaisir de France, Calling Marian and Theodora & Lockhart. First up is Rinse FM host Curses, the Berlin based New Yorker and dark disco stylist who likes shadowy sounds and rock licked grooves and puts them out on Bordello A Parigi, Throne Of Blood, and Ombra International. His fantastic remix is a chugger with haunting chords lighting up the dark corners of the dance floor. It has rubbery drums and popping hits as well as some sleazy French language vocals to really add to the intensity. Then comes Plaisir de France, well known for his remixes / edits of French pop songs and for more club focussed fair on Turbo and Prozac as Sweetlight. Here he goes for something with smeared synths spraying about the mix and dehumanized, heavily filtered vocals that bring a darkly futuristic vibe to his warped vision of disco. French producer Calling Marian runs her own label CVNT Records and mixes up techno, house and electro. That's the case here with a sleek, stripped back bit of techno with spooky vocals and stepping cold wave synths. Next up, Barbagallo bassist, producer and singer Theodora seeks to bring together the different poles of a diverse musical galaxy that sits somewhere between melancholy and dancing rhythms, and here links with fellow French artist Lockhart from the indie and electro pop scene. Together they go for a tripped out disco stomper with rich layers of chords and a noodling bassline that keeps you on your toes. This is a dazzling package of gritty, essential disco from the dark side.

From the moment of its release, Iñigo Vontier’s El Hijo del Maiz has become one of the most gripping albums of the moment. With South American and Middle Eastern sounds and his conception of music as ritual, the Mexican DJ keeps electronica in check as a valid mix of influences. The EP El Hijo Del Maiz Remixes, marks the end of an episode which started, in good company, last autumn on the Lumière Noire label.
The second track of his album, Bo Ni Ke, is distinguished by its original - almost implausible - universe, with a Japanese-inflected vocal filter and oriental flutes taking the beats into a crazy trance. Leaning on the 4/4 rhythm, Simple Symmetry’s remix of the track is also very playful (Iñigo Vontier recently remixed Nar for Simple Symmetry). The Moscow duo, noted in particular for the brilliant EP Plane Goes East released on Disco Halal (the Moscoman label which makes the link between east and west), pulls the track over to another - less terrestrial more psychedelic - universe, in their well identified ethno-underground style.
