Styles such as ambient, experimental, breakbeat, folk, dub and techno music piece together to form a broad mosaic, the hallmark of Estuary Tapes. Each composition takes us on a journey to unexplored lands where the past and present meet harmoniously. Visuals and art are also essential. Always looking to create a captivating aesthetic, the images marry the sound to create a totally immersive experience. Promising to bridge together local spirit and the global scene, Estuary Tapes is the artist’s playground, a safe place of expression for emerging artists, managing events to carefully developed releases. Labels' debut embarks on an inter-dimensional voyage, with the label at the wheel. Tabensi, Théo Muller and Transe Ar Gwez are to be the breton guides accompanying you in the front seat. They are to be cordially supported by Los Pashminas, A-Tweed, Oltrefuturo, Kendu Bari, Shjva, X.C.I, Isabel Del Bosco and Orphic. Together, they awaken the estuary's abyss. A far-away echo of mermaid song will emerge from the shadows and come into the light. A forgotten tale of mysterious spirit, soothing nostalgia, dark ardor is resurfacing, set to the sound of trippy synth melodies and resounding drums.

On New Year's morning, Cousin took a weary-eyed walk... ‘HomeSoon’ he thought, whilst cutting to the path by the Angophora Forest. As he made it down to the overgrown sidewalk, he caught a sudden sense of warmth from the surrounding flora. On closer focus, it was as if the plants and flowers had come alive...pulsing forward down the path as they bounced, smiled, and sneered all around him. Against logic, he was struck by an almost Garsonian desire to communicate with them.

This feeling lingered, persisting through several studio sessions. The music written over this period makes up this EP. How directly this experience informed the music is hard to say. What effect it had on the surrounding plant life is even harder to tell… we do hope, however, through listening to it, you’re a little more tuned in to them.

With his latest EP, It's Cancelled, featuring diffused electronics on the A-Side and menacing drum infestations on the B-Side, Serge Geyzel keeps pounding beats and bass into oblivion. Adepta Editions expertly compiles these recordings onto vinyl and digital media, emphasizing timeless limited editions. While "Take Your Time And Be Mine" deftly walks the line between Plaid-infused melodics and Clark's shuffling rhythms, "Before the Silence Came" features fuzzy electrical sound fields that eventually collapse, while Serge Geyzel crafts his distinctive characteristic textures. With percussive acrobatics and synth strands floating away, "Come Closer" bookends the A-Side.

Conversely, "Renamed" kicks a hole in our bass bins with its rough outer shell that combines parts of MBM and DHS staccato beat work (listen to Man From Mantis on Love Love to compare and contrast). It seems like Geyzel has flipped a mystical switch and gone completely drum focused. "It's Cancelled" ends with an avalanche of glitchy blips and bleeps covering the landscape with rough and funky rhythms, while "Out of Context" continues to push low-wobbling dub limits with rapid fire beats, bass, and distortion.

It's Cancelled is a top-tier EP for 2024, and is a strong and comprehensive collection of six tracks with mind-blowing tectonic tempos, low-flying bass-beats, and magnetized electro-nics. Those who enjoy imprints like Love Love, Touched Music, Analogical Force, and Brokntoys ought to pay attention.

Sankt - Canopy Drift [Crux Axul]

Sankt’s first full-length album Canopy Drift hones in on previous genre experimentations and offers multiple compelling configurations of ambient, fuzzed-out breaks, IDM and warped electro.

Washes of birdsong, bleeps and hyaline drones interweave on Eosphoros, the album's opener, laying the ground for the serpentine Underglow, on which a creeping hum of a rhythm is bolstered by snarling bass jolts.

Wryl is where the album really takes up speed, its forward momentum adorned by fractured voice snippets and scuttling high-hats. The tempo is then upped again by Xerosere with its fuzzed-out pads and meticulous breakbeats, before the melancholic Floaters throws a bit of a curveball with crunchy and blown-out 90s electro, broken up by playful glitches and drop-outs.

On Parhelion, a concise exercise in elegiac splendor, bell-like plucks float through the spectrum as the record finds a brief resting place. In contrast, the dubby title track morphs wet sounds and pulsating textures to erratic ends, just as Pfund Dub reframes UK Garage-y shuffles in a minimalist, yet blown-out fashion.

Filtered pads usher in Creeping Nightshade, in which levee-breaking drums relentlessly waltz onward in the company of heavily deconstructed whispers, industrial-sounding squelches and bass salvos.

Time-stretched and curling amen breaks return on the penultimate Peripheral Visions, which is interjected with hazy and sometimes somber organ chords. Noctilucent, the last of the three interconnected ambient pieces structuring Canopy Drift, closes the record out with recoiled piano reductions, as reverb tails droop off into the distance.
