The duo posit an alternative reality where the autobahn connects Detroit to New York to Napoli, and where heady electro, Hi-NRG, and post-punk grooves merge with narcotic new wave, interstellar funk, and psychedelic rock. The result is an epic adventure equally suited for dancefloor mania as it is for coastal highway cruising, with shades on and a leather jacket closed against the mysterious forces of the night. What’s My Derivative?’, is the new label from London/Brighton-based duo Casino Times. Much like the radio show of the same name, WMD? aims to release music that explores the unusual spaces between house & techno, showcasing emerging producers and former guests of the show. Artists are invited to interpret the sound of the label as they see fit, giving them the freedom to explore different styles without the constraints of any rules. Profits from WMD?001 will be directed towards the Trussell Trust, an incredible charity that helps those most in need in the UK [www.trusselltrust.org].

WMD?001 kicks off with 'How I Came To Find Myself' from mul.apin. The Berlin resident sets the tone for the release by opening with a dramatic, hair-raising string sample. The track is brushed with gentle synth stabs and a distant melody that dances gracefully across this heavy hitter.

Up next is High Hopes, the mysterious producer that has not made an appearance, since featuring on Casino Times’ 2014 release on Wolf Music Recordings. High Hopes is a master of programming and the hypnotic 'Mind Art' demonstrates just that; a captivating blend of swirling pads and rhythmic elements that weave the listener through a dream-like soundscape.

London-based Baby Rollen delivers a real moment on the release with 'Tyst Eufori', a peak summertime boogie that skilfully deploys a washed-out vocal - perfect for dancefloors under the sun.

Finally, Casino Times closes the release with the psychedelic 'Bloom', a track that’s been a feature in Casino sets for a few years now, with big drums that were made with bass bins in mind.

It’s the start of a new era for the cobbers, as they present their first compilation of 100% original music. Cementing the label’s New Age Italo manifesto, these four tracks straddle neon-tinted nostalgia and sleek futurism. Sounds from yesteryear, for the dancefloors of tomorrow. 

This dichotomy is clear on opener ‘Silicon Horizon’, a propulsive banger from Kayroy which draws inspiration from the threshold of the digital age, evoking the rush of a nighttime race through city streets on a Tron bike. 

The anthemic ‘Make Italo Disco Great Again’ gives tune to the phrase brandished by DJs such as Skatebård. Romain FX faithfully celebrates the ongoing Italo legacy with appropriately tuneful synths and cheesy lyrics, courtesy of vocalists Guido Balboa & Annika. 

On the flip, German synth-wave fanatic Compilerbau delivers an atmospheric masterclass with ‘Raindance’. Here, intricate percussion and retrofuturist synth-scapes create an adrenaline rush of a track which could easily be the theme song from a lost 80’s action movie.

GREETINGS completes the release with ‘Time Is A Thief’, a bombastic trip to the Paradise Garage complete with piano stabs, a throbbing bassline and enough cowbell to cure any fever.

For the seventh volume of International Chromies, we're turning to something close to our hearts.

The 26th of January is known in our home country as Australia Day, a national holiday where non-indigenous people celebrate the founding of the country and the arrival of The First Fleet. For many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and those sympathetic to their cause this day is known as Invasion Day, and is held as a day of mourning commemorating the beginning of the colonisation of lands and cultures that had existed there for over 50,000 years.

It goes without saying we are ashamed of this "Holiday" and stand in solidarity with our Indigenous sisters & brothers.
All the money from this compilation will be split between The Healing Foundation & Reconciliation Australia.
Both organizations are partnering with communities around Australia to address the inequality and prejudice the First Nations people face, and the on-going trauma caused by abhorrent actions such as the forced removal of children from their families. They work with these communities to create a place of safety, providing an environment for Stolen Generation survivors and their families to speak for themselves, tell their own stories and be in charge of their own healing.

Although the way in which we consume music has changed and clubs remain closed - From Belfast with Love shows a city standing in solidarity; free to create and connect to those willing to listen.

Across fifteen tracks, artists involved effortlessly move between ambient rich coloured worlds, acid-tinged goodness and rhythmically complex intricacies, inciting feelings of hope, wonder and private contemplation.

Arvo Party and Gibsun provide two stunning pieces of work, as our windows are cracked open and we drift beyond the clouds to worlds less-known, shining a well-deserved light on new talent across the city. Matheson returns to the compilation series with a feel-good nostalgic bubbler, while Belfast's Timmy Stewart debuts his To The Bone project- gifting us a brooding cut of carnivalesque energy. First-time contributors Tech Support and Zillas on Acid embrace odd-ball rhythms and an acid down-pour, giving the compilation a well-rounded edge that can transcend beyond any dancefloor.

100% of compilation profits will be donated to the Disasters Emergency Committee. The charity are working with communities profoundly affected by the corona-virus pandemic, particularly refugees in war-torn countries including Syria, Yemen and South Sudan. Your donation will help raise urgent funds to those fleeing war and living in fragile states and is deeply appreciated.
