SlothBoogie’s Editz imprint returns late May for its tenth release, entitled ‘Routines’ and coming courtesy of Berlin based label regular Joe Cleen.

For its next release, the resurgent Deeplay Digital offers up three new versions of a classic and previously unreleased (on 12” at least) disco-fried Giorgio Moroder track in the form of ‘Utopia – Me Giorgio’. The remixer is Opilec Music boss, I-Robots, who has reworked classic Moroder material before and who is a huge fan of the disco and electronic music pioneer Einzelgänger.

The concept of this release was simply to create longer versions of the track that was originally included in the From Here To Eternity partially mixed album – incredibly no one else has officially done this since the original release date in 1977. Importantly, though, because the track is so seminal, the remixes are all hugely sympathetic affairs that don’t change the atmosphere or intentions of the original artist.

Up first is the ‘I-Robots 1977 Reconstruction’, which has just seen the original extended from 3:23 minutes to almost 7 minutes (all these reconstructions are long). The result is a fantastic thing that is now perfectly suited to club play with fulsome modern production, a revisited version that is a perfect reinterpretation maintaining the spirit of the ’77 original.

For the ‘I-Robots 2014 Tape Reconstruction’, the remixer had a dream that he found an old original Moroder tape in a flea market and used it to beef up this track. The addition of analog tape background noise gives the mix a dirty and dusty vintage sound and as such it now has a strong and powerful impact with infectious drums, frazzled synth lines and plenty of meaty disco dazzle.

Finally, The ‘I-Robots 2014 Reconstruction’ is the clean version of the Tape Reconstruction with a powerful tech-house beat underpinning it, making it the version most suited to heavy dancefloor usage.

The vinyl release includes only the 1977 and the 2014 Tape Reconstructions and is handled exclusively by Opilec Music.

Featuring phenomenal fecundity and remarkable talent, Konstantin Isaev aka Volta Cab, is one of the few russian artists, was able to win real recognition on the world stage. Discography measured in dozens of original tracks and remixes, mostly vinyl, including Isaev, Tokma and Common People aliases. Among the musical landmarks of Volta Cab are, on the one hand – a proven classic disco and detroit house like Motor City Drum Ensemble; on the other hand, Volta Cab’s music does not have any limits, flirting with lo-fi, hip-hop, stupefying balearic and chicago house chords, futuristic 2-step and post- jazz side of the garage. Only he can simultaneously publish a proto-jungle at UK Hypercolour, and mutant disco at respected label Eskimo. He prefers to play live-acts with his own eclectic vision of electronic music.

With  forthcoming releases on Nein, Bordello A Parigi and Dalmata Daniel, Volta Cab is one of the producers to watch from East Europe.

Statue is a mysterious percussion-based structure erected by Tom Gould. Whilst laying down the foundations in cult Melbourne bands NO ZU and World’s End Press, the release of two EPs under the moniker Statue has solidified it’s presence within Melbourne’s dance music culture. Base and Face are site-specific structures created for the club. The Base and Face are fundamental elements of a Statue whilst also referring to the facial contortions that occur in the club during the early hours of the morning. Commissioned by Cin Cin, Statue casts a peculiar shadow on the dance floor. Come visit.

Here comes the remix package for Lowe Aka User’s Plastik Tanzen EP which came out at the beginning of this summer on Vilnius’ freshly baked label Where Were We? Sadly, stems and original project of “Nepalese Honey” track has burned down together with Lowe Aka User’s hard drive, so remixes are coming only for “Palms Boulevard” and “Tanz Botanik” tracks.

The first three versions of “Palms Boulevard” were made from already well-known and established names in Italo field: Scotsman, always on point Donald Dust, Italian, Amsterdam-based and super-prolific Daniel Monaco and back to France from Hong Kong, proper edits master Romain FX. 

Guys took rather different approaches for making their versions and all of them put their own spin on the OG. We hope that each and everyone of you will fall in love with one version or the other or maybe with all three of them, just as we did. The last version of “Tanz Botanik” comes from a local hero, Lithuanian talent and also known Italo lover Jonas aka Black Feeling. Although this version is the most housey from the whole package, we think that it compliments the entire pack very nicely. 

Euphoric italo house at it’s best!
