Ethimm scratches on pop does a pirouette and then takes another direction. Both on stage and in his productions, the enigmatic producer from Zurich shows his unique style. After three releases on the cult label Light of Other Days, his new record for Subject to Restrictions is more danceable than ever. Previously approved by a multitude of DJs from London to Tokyo, 'Don't Go Away' delivers steady hands in the air peak time moments reminiscent of 90ies rave dancefloor dramas. On 'Lies (feat. T.A.V.)' the pitched voice perfectly intertwines with the throbbing disco beat and the sparse melodies, all to climax in sweeping arpeggio ecstasy. The slow groove of 'Island Jam' is peppered with a penetrating bassline and playful sound snippets. An EP for DJs and home listeners alike.

The EP consists of 4 deep & heady grooves made with a variety of gear including an E-MU XL-7, Moog Mother 32 along with samples & soft synths.
“When I listen back to my music, I’m instantly taken back in time - to the place where I made the song, the mood I was in, who I was with, how I was feeling at the time etc. I make music pretty much every day so to me it kind of feels like the cataloging of memories. It’s abstract but it feels like my version of a diary or a form of meditation or personal therapy. Memory Foam is a collection of songs (& for me, memories) that I made towards the end of spring as I was approaching the beginning of a pretty major life transition.”

The full moon lit up the road, casting a brighter glow than the dim street lamps that bordered each side. It was her nightly ritual, watching the comings and goings from her window, hoping to catch wind of a neighbourhood drama or some strange activity only carried out during the nocturnal hours. But nothing stirred, not even the rumble of a car ignition or a stray cat sniffing out its next meal. Everything was quiet, peaceful. Too peaceful... 

Next up on Massimiliano Pagliara's Funnovojere Records, lovingly named after a small beach in southern Puglia, is an instalment from London-based producer Harsh Puri under his Reformed Society alias. Joining the likes of Rotciv, Armonics and James Booth on the label, Reformed Society brings a collection of raw, harmonic synth cuts that blur the boundaries between techno and house. With the first drafts getting the seal of approval from the Guv'nor himself, the late Andrew Weatherall, you can be assured Cosmic Perspective's celestial synth melodies will have you beguiled from lift off to touch down.

Bulletdodge Records continues to explore its exciting new musical direction with a split EP of experimental electronics from Jan Cree and Suna Path that also comes backed with remixes from Gonjasufi and Roedelius.
Jan Cree and Suna Path have been producing independently for more than a decade across various labels such as Stereofly, WiN Recordings, Rawax and Bulletdodge Records. Their music has always been fresh and innovative and has explored a wide array of niches across the electronic spectrum, always with an experimental and forward looking edge. This continues with their thrilling new tracks here on Scottish based imprint Bulletdodge Records following various tracks and releases from Robert Hood, Plaid, Adamski, The Mad Professor and Carl Cox plus more.
Cree kicks off with 'Escape', a sludgy and hypnotic deep techno cut with freaky vocals and twisted synths burrowing ever deeper. San Diego hip hop head, Warp album artist and yoga teacher Gonjasufi then steps up to remix with his distinctive brand of beat making. He rips the track apart and rebuilds it as a tortured electronic soundscape of busted beats and manic beeps, paranoid vocals and pure musical tension.
Suna Path then comes correct with 'Ondine,' an ambient piece with lo-fi chords drifting over a pained synth while flickering human vocals appear and disappear before your very ears. Remixer Roedelius is a cult German electronic musician and composer best known as co-founder of the influential krautrock groups Cluster and Harmonia, and for his work in the ambient jazz trio Aquarello and collaboration with Brian Eno. His take is one that floats you in a celestial sky amongst harmonic pads and shimmering vocal tones and leaves you in awe. 'The Secret' is an airy track of skipping kick drums and off grid chords that light up the airwaves next to scuttling found sound details. 'Blood Moon' is a jazzy techno tune with live sounding drums and more exquisite harmonies that ride up and down the scale in dynamic fashion and 'Path Of The Monk' closes out with a tense and suggestive ambient soundtrack that is straight from the cosmos.

Member of the Disco Evangelio crew, My Boy Roy is the solo project of Roger Guerrero, a producer/DJ from Irapuato now living in Guadalajara, Mexico.

With a notorious but not strictly attached taste in retro dance music, he likes to experiment with classic '80s sounds bringing up some modern and futuristic elements into his creations. Going from bright and friendly to dark and experimental, he's always looking for innovative sounds both in his production and mixes.

Recently released on AEON and Emerald & Doreen, an exciting future lies ahead with forthcoming releases in Wrong Era, Haunted Space, Monocero Records, and a few more labels.

In the spirit of its creator, Lézard Vert (Green Lizard) is much more than a music band. It hails a concept of participation, a record label in itself, of which it boldly assumes the parenthood, but where each musician plays on musical pieces of their peers. A concept that shaped from the Carrousel experience. During a prolonged retreat in Manapany “country of Lézard Vert”, Zoun then started to lay the foundation for the eponymous album. Zoun concurrently follows the career of two accomplished musicians, namely; Teddy Baptiste and Kiki Mariapin, with whom he occasionally performed, with Gilbert Pounia who provoked the spark leading to the encounter with Philippe de Magnée, a Belgium born sound engineer, invited on Reunion island to record Ziskakan.

Pioneer of the electric maloya, agile composer of various influences, Zoun, is proud to see his Lézard Vert resurface on turntables. This new version initiated by Wazis Pounia gave birth to a collaboration between Ziskakan and the Mauritian label, Babani Records. The remastering has been entrusted to Neil Combstock, sound engineer of the label, based in the United Kingdom and the illustration to the Mauritian artist, Guillaume Clarisse, all under the art direction of Avneesh Bacha. This reissue in 33turns vinyl discs and streaming, has the merit of bringing to the ear a whole new generation, recorded in 1983, a key era in the history of Reunionese music. With the passing of time, a number of musical treasures has been unfortunately lost, forgotten, or never even recorded. Thus, when the opportune presents itself, it is of our duty to honour them with a re-publishing.

We thought he was done with the music world. At 66 years old, Zoun - born Jean-Michel Toquet - is making an unexpected come back after a hiatus of almost three decades. Back to the roots with the reissue on vinyl and streaming platforms of "Lézard Vert" his debut LP, produced with the complicity of his friends from Ziskakan.

Zoun started early, at the age of 12, he became a ballroom musician. Initially oriented to become a French teacher, he is rapidly seduced by the sweet sounds of music that certainly influenced his path in life.

In 1983, he released "Lézart Vert". With Kiki Mariapin on bass guitar and tablas, Teddy Baptiste and Jean-Philippe Bideau on guitars. The audio cassette tape featured only instrumental music and was produced by the Ziskakan association. The band played in various spots and venues, such as gymnasiums, discotheques and stages in major popular events. Between two concerts, he continued by the best to explore the never-ending universe of maloya. Surrounded by the best musicians of the island such as Jean-Jacques Harrison and Philippe "Kawa" Chavriacouty or Yves Antoine and Frédéric Borne.

In 1985, Zoun's repertoire flourishes with the release of "Fler Kann", eight tracks recorded at Studio 102 Productions, the brand-new studio of Jean Ah Voune. Many amazing musicians feature on the album: Teddy Baptiste, Babette Seguenot, Patrick Marvilliers, Jean-Jacques Harrison, Philippe Chavriacouty and Bernard "Brice" Legros directing.

The music applies a range of rhythms evolving between maloya, funk and jazz-rock. Zoun's music is an audacious musical construction driven by a rule-breaking attitude, in demand for recognition. However, when the music scene in Réunion went through an unprecedented explosion, he put aside his piano, flute and various percussions, became Carla’s dad and shifted to real estate negotiation.

A new life, until a tour in India, Gilbert Pounia, the charismatic leader of Ziskakan, revived Zoun's spark for music. That marked the start of Zoun's ongoing come back.
