Description: Hailing from Manchester, 21 year old Thodén has seen releases over the past year on Nous Disques, Eyeangle and more recently inaugurating the Stuttgart based ‘Electroménager’. Encapsulating a variety of influences from UK Techno through to jungle, his style has emerged as one of percussive and bass-oriented club ready music.

Control Freak Recordings is a London based label pushing dancefloor-oriented sounds with a focus on leftfield techno and UK bass. They are delighted to announce their second V/A compilation Psycho/Soma - the first of many exciting releases for 2021. 12 tracks to move body & mind, spanning a full spectrum of UK club music.

Kincaid’s experimental style which is inspired by global sounds that belong to no specific genre, is steeped in the history of electronic music whilst sounding fresh and relevant to today’s underground clubbing landscape.

A portion of the label’s profits for this release will be split between three mental health charities: Mind, YoungMinds & Black Minds Matter.

NYC’s Sha Ru heads to Tapefeed’s Inveterate Records for a new club-focused EP which channels their experiences of overcoming the fear while the band is exploring singing in English. The intensity of this fear is showcased on ‘Moi’ as it continues to build in tension over the course of the track whilst the vocal comes in and out of focus. 

Comprised of Ma Sha and Rù, the pair live and work together between NYC and Berlin. Masha is the founder behind the much-loved label and party series Kindergarten Records who we’ve featured quite regularly on the site. Between them they’ve released music via Infinite Machine, Pressure Dome, Sorry Records, Shubzin and Progressive Future.

Founded by Slacker and Sam PW, Pseudonym Records is a new label ‘focused on the ethereal, twisted and broken fringes of UK-indebted dance music’ and will make his first stamp with a multi-artist release next month, ‘Corporeal Vol. 1’. Giving us a little taste of what’s to come, Slacker contributes a chugging acid-tinged track ‘Active Dreams’, stepping away from the previous ambient and high NRG jungle records. Another excellent production from the animated artist.

Premiere: Slacker - Active Dreams

Club Night Club is proud to announce its first release via Manchester based Herron, who delivers four diverse excursions aimed squarely at the dancefloor. 

On the A1, Dead Frogs Down, ethereal vocals are submerged and held captive by the molten, stumbling textures which give them form, they rise out of the chaos every now and then, breathing life into a soundscape of club ready punches and kicks. The result is a punishing five minutes of peak time breaks with a delicate undertone floating in between. 

Velcro Spider, true to its name, weaves a similar blend of the synthetic and heartfelt. A stumbling, low slung groove mutates over the course of the track, quietly building and sustaining a tension the listener is unaware of until all hell breaks loose in true drug chug fashion at the halfway point. 

The B side similarly advances this fusion of midtempo tension.  

Noroveerno is a head bobber, the double time kicks coming like a heartbeat. There is a sense of purpose to the unrestrained impacts that pump and push the sound design heavy, Sludge-Techno forwards. A simple, distorted vocal sample: “Do I Want?” is peppered amongst the chaos, presenting as a rhythmic element which contributes to the track’s flow rather than diverging from it. The inflection gives the impression that this is a question to which the artist already knows his answer. 

Closing things out on the B side is IWillTry2d0, a dystopian piece that has a tensible core of thick and hearty synth pulses. Evocative of the Toulouse Low Trax breed of intentional, ambiguous chug, but in keeping with the rest of the record smothered in impact and delay. Like the others, it has a percussive outer shell which protects something emotional and questioning at its root.
