Astral Records opens the summer season by welcoming Paul Angelo and Don Argento back to the label for a new EP. With a career that spans the better part of a decade, Cyprus based duo Paul and Don have achieved measurable success, taking their melodic sound to influential imprints such as Awen Records, Clubsonica, Movement Recordings, Sound Avenue, Timeless Moment and more. Astral Records has also served as landing spot for the talented act, with the duo's 'Icarus' EP marking their label debut in 2021, a well-received release which would lead to a 2022 appearance as part of the Celestial, Pt. 2 collection. Now, following a single for Paul Thomas' UV Noir to begin the year, Paul and Don return to Astral Records with the much-anticipated 'Helios'.

Beginning with 'Helios' Paul and Don masterfully synthesize their talents into one singular cosmic vision. Punchy beats and a tight, rolling groove set the foundation for a narrative of astral arps, prophetic effects and smooth percussive rides. Pushing a melodic mood into the break, the duo marries cinematic ambience with balmy synth phrasing; building drama with each successive pass, as modulation peaks and a thumping drop and groovy finale ensues.

Artist:
Jean Peron is a French electronic music producer. In 2022, he started releasing music on international labels such as Sub Label Recordings. He initially created energizing house music tracks but is currently transitioning towards a more lo-fi house approach.

Influenced by artists such as DJ Poolboi, Jasper Tygner, and Jacana People, Jean Peron's music emanates its own emotional, vintage, and uplifting vibes. It is something to listen to, but more importantly, to deeply feel. It takes you to a chiaroscuro mood between a beautiful sunset beach and a gentle morning rain.

He is also involved as a music producer and lyricist in various projects that have been featured in several TV shows, including "Lucifer," "13 Reasons Why," "Emily in Paris," and « Riverdale."

In 2023, Jean Peron started to perform his electronic music on stage in his hometown Bordeaux during a sold-out gig.

Premiere: Darin Epsilon - Karakoram (DJ CHUS Remix) [Perspectives Digital]

Parisian Torb passed away in July 2020 after a distinguished career as a producer, engineer and assistant to Philipp Zdar. He worked on many seminal records with Cassius, Phoenix and Chromeo so was a core part of the famous French touch sound. Mixing up raw kraut rock with soulful Detroit on his array of analogue machines, he had a signature sound that still impresses to this day.

'Sunriser' is a long journey into deep space with a warming sunrise vibe. The emotional track has a heart of darkness but lush synth craft that brings hope. It is widescreen and dramatic and makes a truly lasting impression.

Three remixers then pay tribute to Torb, starting with Parisian Blaacon who smooths things out into a slick electro-tinged cut with smeared pads and a constant sense of trance-tinged suspense and melodic beauty. Then comes long time friend and Italian pioneer Francesco Farfa with a gorgeous deep techno cut tinged with Motor City synth warmth and optimism. Last of all, Parisian Don Turi offers a mix that will sweep the dance floor up on waves of pixelated synths and dynamic drums that power through the stars.

This is a touching tribute to a great French artist.
