Bleaching Agent: The 'Altered Currents' Mix

Born in the South and based in the North, Gus is a British producer who makes music that sounds Italian. If that's not confusing, he also makes Detroit-influenced Techno as Emotive Systems.

Confusion aside, his productions and DJ sets are approachable, fun, and, most importantly, danceable. Good energy music that doesn't take itself too seriously, just like Gus.

Tokyo resident and Jansen Jarden honcho Max Essa has been making music since the early 90's, he has produced tracks and remixes for labels like Paper, D-Vision, Bear funk, Nang and Tirk... His own solo work, Midnight Garden and Continental Drift feature not only his production work but his elegant guitar playing. (as does his remix of Apollo Heights!) Back to the Beach released from Continental Drift was a huge record and is emblematic of Max's cosmic and crisp production style. In addition to his playing and producing Max is also a serious DJ as his guest set here shows.

UK underground legend Richard Sen's career spans over 20 years of DJ & production work. One of the first wave of serious UK train graf writers, Richard gained notoriety with his musical projects Padded Cell and Bronx Dogs. He has also done production and remix work for LCD Soundsystem, Bryan Ferry, Saint Etienne and The Jungle Brothers amongst others. Richard is an amazing DJ who's style has a dark soulful and psychedelic edge that comes through in the broad range of music he plays. (I had him play my birthday party, he's friggin awesome!) Mogusa - Fiji (Lemethi Edit) [OUT NOW]

Poland’s Universo is set to inaugurate Breathing Room Records, a fresh vinyl imprint coming out of the somewhat unlikely area of Southern Canada’s beautiful Niagara Region. Inspired by sounds from the world over, the connecting factor between all of the releases will be one main element: percussion. Each EP will be diverse enough in its offerings, from dancefloor inspired leanings to soundscapes that take you on a meandering journey. Paired with the music will be fantastically striking artwork from visual and 3D artist Maks Pihs.
Previously known for releases on labels from his native country such as Transatlantyk and STEP/PETS Recordings, Universo brings his signature combination of deep basses, percussive rhythms and cosmic atmospheres to Breathing Room via the “Spheres EP”. The A1 and title track is a slowly building number that has a developing otherworldly ambience paired with a foundation that is wholly on terra firma. ‘When Time Stopped’, the second track off of the EP is perhaps the most dancefloor friendly of the bunch. It pairs the tight bassline with a thundering clap, Universo’s trademark auras and dynamic drums. The flip side opens up with ‘Budokan’, an East-Asian inspired tune full of groovy percussion and traditional instruments, showcasing a quirkier side to the Polish producer. Closing out the record is the aptly titled ‘Exhale’, an alluring and elegant composition with fluttering melodies, vocal synths and deep textures that transport you to a tranquil place.
