Here we go again! The return of the Greek DJ and production duo Boys' Shorts - this time in remixed form!
»On The High Line« and »Dark Room Rendez-Vous« from their first ever release for LIVE AT ROBERT JOHNSON get the remix treatment for even more Boys' Shorts dancefloor mayhem.
First up is Romain FX with his »Pressure Remix« of »On The High Line« and the title gives a hint to Romain's approach: He indeed adds a bit more pressure stripping down the former 80ties fueled track by adding a big big bass line thus achieving a more concentrated punch in general. By keeping DJ City's beautiful cool vocals for their remix they manage to keep the same lascivious quality you find in the original version. We say: Mission accomplished.
The next ones are a real "All in"! Jason nocturne doubles his stake straight away! Two versions for you! Keep it rollin' "On The Highline", or do you like it more acidic? The choice is yours!
Former Chicago-raised and socialized DJ and producer Alinka is next with her version of »Dark Room Rendez-Vous«. We're happy the Ukrainian-born and now Berlin resident Alinka is back for LARJ twisting the knobs just the right way transforming the track into a straighter and slightly darker monster the original instrumental already is. It's a winner, thank you Alinka!
We stay with the same track but now it's Mala Ika's turn. The French producer originally from Guadeloupe throws in a deeper bass drum into her remix and holds this extra energy over the whole six minutes. Mala Ika also adds a happy little synth melody that transforms this typical dark tune into a joyous yet still dark track.
All in all these three remixes can be seen as a beautiful supplement to Boys' Shorts original outing and will definitely find their way to the clubs all over the world.

Ransom Note Records sub label Insult To Injury are delighted to welcome back analogue techno pioneers Buran with their second full length excursion for the label, in the form of The Hunter EP. Born of the mechanical machinations of Joe Wretham and Ian Scott, their latest instalment of furious face melters is aimed squarely at the post midnight dancefloor, bubbling away with squelchy 303 potions and black magic beats.

First single, Alnitak, opens the EP and immediately we’re confronted with Buran’s inimitable modus operandi; slash and burn Acid Techno with a scorched earth ethos. A full frontal assault of acidic sorcery, lobbing techno bangers over the ramparts as the castle walls are pummelled. Hold onto your hats, it’s not for the faint of heart!

Alnilam is next out the gate, ricocheting off the armour plating of its enemies, bouncing along and razing everything in its path to the ground. We’re delivered brief respite from the brutality with the addition of some celestial vocal edits, whose angelic timbres provide juxtaposition to the synthetic onslaught. As the smoke clears, the penultimate Mintaka glides into view. Wonderfully barbed, but gloriously lush chords propel the track forward, over a bed over automaton drum machines and staccato blips, bleeps and swirling noise.

Rounding off, ITI are hyped to have the mighty Void Complet on remix duties. Fresh off the back of his breakthrough release on CHOBU Records, London based super producer Chog Burley takes Alnitak and reimagines it in his own image. Launching with a rich, metallic arpeggio, we’re drawn into an analogue dream, before realising that’s all a ruse. We have been lulled into a false sense of security, because we’re about to be clattered around the head by that savage 303 riff from the original. We’re caught in the crossfire as glitched vocals and bit crushed acid lines vie for dominance. This correspondent knows not how to fully encapsulate the terror of this remix… watch out dance floors around the world!

GC's first reference, titled “Enter the Wild” is stuffed with elements brought together to create a mix of percussion, groove, and excitement, an after-midnight fiesta combining Anastasia Zems’s massive vocal talent with what the label’s creator, Mike Sacchetti had envisioned probably influenced by a tribal dance he saw in a movie and a long bike ride home.

Both stepped out a bit from their living room couch to deliver something fresh to the sound of Indie Dance. And as if it wasn’t confusing enough to your expectations, two special guests came to spend the evening at the remix department: the french based Moroccan rooted artist Zaatar widens the sound spectrum while spitting out cosmic dust with a slow builder re-interpretation piece of “The World’s a Dream”, ultimately to hand it over to Berlin’s established producer Radial Gaze to properly fuel the rocket with an acid energized version just tailored for the peak time enthusiasts.

Born at the end of the 80s in Bastia, Corsica, François Dagregorio alias "Valerj" comes from a generation in which long formats occupy a special place in the discographies of electronic music artists. It was with this in mind that the production of "Le début du beau", Valerj's debut album, began: an almost fantastical desire to show something more intimate, to tell a story, perhaps his own story.
A child of dance music, dj since the age of 16, in the space of just three ep's Valerj's productions have already toured the world, appearing in the sets of major players on the dark disco / indie dance scene such as Jennifer Cardini, Curses, Perel and Modular Project. Always keen to collaborate and exchange ideas, since 2022 he has
also crossed paths with renowned artists such as Damon Jee, Roe Deers, Amarcord and Joe Lewandowski on remixes.
Despite his obvious affinity with the dark disco scene, which is still very active today, the artist has chosen a completely different path for this "debut album", reconnecting with influences that are much more house, ambient and electro.
Metro Area, Dj Koze, Boards of Canada, Nina Kraviz, Anthony Rother, Miss Kittin & The Hacker, Jimmy Edgar - the list of heroes could go on and on, but that's not the point. Avoiding the trap of the "dancefloor compilation", offering music that can be
heard everywhere but heard nowhere before, that is the "ambitious ambition" of this eight-track collection: music that "speaks", that speaks of love, that speaks of the night, music that dances, that dances as well as lives.
In today's fast-paced world, "Le début du beau" is an attempt to give us time, by offering us a signposted route, a 47-minute guided loop that asks questions - universal questions about our ability to get back on our feet, our ability to remain hopeful, questions about our ability to give love, to give love and to receive it.
"Le début du beau" is an object, an object to be listened to in its entirety, an object to be revisited several times to better understand it, to better apprehend it, a nostalgic object that pays tribute to those records that sometimes change our lives
through their singularity, their ability to resonate with a moment, an era in our lives.
