He walked atop the padded floor across the gym, taking in the uncomfortable stares and awkward glares from onlookers. The machines rattled, raced and echoed as people pushed their bodies to the limit, testing their endurance and strength. The room was hot, the heat reverberated between dense writhing figures and soon too he would feel just as phased by the dizzying warmth. Now as he approached his station he began to move and sway, for his workout, his routine was a dance. 

Escape Artist is a producer we've kept a close eye on over the years, having released a number of tracks which have caught our ears. The Australian producers latest appearance is on a compilation by Truth, a sprawling affair which features cutting edge electronics and material for the dance.

After having invited, a few months ago, eight of the best producers France currently has to offer, La Forge now temporarily steps away from the ‘Crysta Ampullaris’ series for a more radiant and solar output. ‘Crysta Ensolaris’ is fueled by the optimism inspired by the perspective of soon getting back on the dancefloor, after more than a year of privation : this sheer need to reunite and come together, be it day or night, during these sweet moments of daydream that we’ve all been missing so much.
Back to an EP formula, our core main producers (Nigm, Slowglide, Lebird, Shonen Bat & Ayuji) gratify us with five tracks full of U.V. vibes. Soothing introduction ‘Ephemeral’, by Nigm, is an introspective downtempo nugget, not unlike a mystical journey under a zenith sun, with its load of sonic mirages and illusion. Then Slowglide turns the acid up, layering breakbeats into the incantatory ‘Solstice’, a big-beat-infused psychedelic track perfectly designed to launch a neo-pagan rave.
Suddenly, here comes the eclipse. Lebird’s ‘Adonia’, a high-energy electro banger, takes us to one of those sweltering nights when bodies undulate and collide, breathless as the kick drum hits. Then, wild kid Shonen Bat propels us towards a gigantic solarpunk rave in zero gravity with ‘Planet Serotonia’, a hybrid, alien-sounding track somewhere between breakbeat house & high-protein UK hardcore. Finally, Ayuji puts a finishing touch to this fantastic trip with ‘Heliopolis’, a swift, solar house gem mingling Detroit techno influences with some trance elements. Like an ultimate rush of dopamine at sunrise, just before the party draws to a close.

PREMIERE : Slowglide - Solstice (Stonehenge Mix)

Number nine of Funnuvojere’s catalogue is signed by label founder Massimiliano Pagliara, and comes as a collaboration with CockTail d’Amore resident Luigi Di Venere. Banana Moon is the name of their duo, an acronym born on a summer night walk in the south of Italy, hinting as well to the legendary 1970s Florentine Rock Club. Delphinium Blue is the title of this debut EP. A flower favoured by Derek Jarman, it evokes feelings of joy and warmth, urging us to open to new experiences. The Italo proto-house Tie Me Up sounds like a demand. An unorthodox arpeggio drives the slinky rhythm, crowded by luxurious vocals flared by cheeky claps.
Breaks, a funky bass and a joyous organ characterize the Chicago neoclassic Full Service, making us the wish for a crowded dance floor under the light of the moon.
On the flip the tittle track Delphinium Blue (Kabuki Mix) is a theatre of sounds inspired by Detroit techno, a genre much esteemed by Banana Moon. This track evokes a sweaty warehouse on fire with hedonistic pleasures. A proud nightingale discusses harmony with a 303 while exquisitely crafted drum patterns build up to a technologic Samba. Closing the EP Polyamory sings to interspecies love, leading us for a swim in the blue depths grasping the tail of a playful whale. While the track’s title dreams of unlimited summer love, this song confirms the duo’s unconditional passion for the Italo groove.

B1.Banana Moon - Delphinium Blue (Kabuki Mix)

Flat Earth is back for more conspiracy theories. The team is proud to present the first opus of our new digital series. The dystopian universe sets off by introducing 3 new artists of the label : Haaland, Wilt and Tancred.
Tancred is a young producer based in Brussels delivering two raw cuts filled with tension. The first track is an electro, Drexciya oriented and Detroit influenced gem. Syncopated rhythm and groovy bassline incoming. The second one is more of an evolutive dark minimal track full of hostility. Both tracks are draped with a lynchesque mysterious and dreamy piano in the background.
Haaland is a Strasbourg based producer kicking it with a scifi twisted emotional banger. The melancholy of the DX7 pads melts with sexy whispers and deep robotic voices. It tells a story about an avant-garde fallen love with a smoky club oriented vibe.

Wilt is half of the duo RBDP. He blessed us with an ethereal breakbeat track that will lead you into the ruins of a futuristic city under a pale moonlight . The hypnotic arpeggio blends perfectly with a nocturnal and silky pad. Nostalgia from the future.

There were glimmering colours and flickering lights which danced and bounced between the four walls of the grand old hall. Inside it revellers moved in a euphoric trance, engulfed by the saidas touch, a hypnotic force which bound them together and kept them moving in ignorant unison. It was a beautiful, magnificent thing - strangely fascinating to watch as each dancer moved simultaneously in time with the rumble and banging of drums as a myriad of colours exploded and flashed. 

Dj Willie Oboe is back and when I say that it will likely mean very little. However, if I were to tell you that it's a magical new moniker for one of the members of the infamous hardware inspired duo Frak you might be more excited. They are set to release a new EP on Lost Control, a somewhat more house focussed affair than their usual. However, it still carries that rough and ready, signature Frak sound.

Old time friend of the label and major artist of the downtempo scene of the South of France, Fred Berthet is signing Global Warming latest release. Much respected for his works as DJ Steef, Copyshop or Troublemakers (with DJ Oil & Arnaud Taillefer), he delivered us two downtempo acid jams, filled with sexual tension, seeping walls and slow orgy. It also features remixes from our all-time favorites Italian balearic band, Mushrooms Project, who sends us back a superb organic and solar vision or the original track and on the opposite, Global Warming’s founder Malcolm (@mmaallccoollmm), signing a bestial and deliciously obscure cover. OOSSHA continues her path with a second release by G. Markus titled Warning! OOSSHA is an outlet for music that’s dedicated to house and alternative styles while always maintaining ferce and unique ingredients that conquer hearts.

UK producer Ben Gomori revisits his G. Markus alter ego for an EP that pays tribute to the Jungle and Drum & Bass soundtrack of his formative years. Dreemscape ’93 opens the EP; a vibey piece that instantly recalls old school house tracks with its use of a contagious groove, fltered elements and a specifc vocal sample taken from Dreamscape's 1993 NYE party. On the same side we fnd queniv turning B side track The Sleepless Moon into his unique blend of breakbeat elements and twisted ambient layers.

On the fipside, Roger Gerressen turns Dreemscape 93’ into his own interpretation of lo-f fltered chord sweetness and combining it with hypnotizing Rhodes patterns. B2 makes space for the original Sleepless Moon which is all about the rhythms. Intricate midi programming triggers acoustic drum samples that intertwine with twinkling ear candy and a jungle break before breaking up the patterns with an infectious bassline.

Andy Ash has been quietly sneaking out seriously good analogue-driven electronic music on some of the best underground labels for over a decade. The Liverpool-based producer, DJ and visual artist has graced the likes of Chicago’s Stilove4music, NYC’s On The Prowl, Sydney’s People Must Jam and has remixed Fantastic Man for Detroit label Kolour LTD amongst many others. The bottom line is that he’s definitely one of the UK’s unsung heroes when it comes to deep, raw, Chicago and Detroit-influenced house music and Delusions of Grandeur is proud to welcome him with an amazing three tracker entitled the Bottleneck EP.

The title track opens with snappy hats, flappy congas and sloppy baseline all sitting perfectly in the mix and with a looseness that is much harder to achieve that it may seem. A simple synth melody doubles up the bassline while an extra square wave lead adds that little extra hook without distracting us from the bouncing groove. With Bottleneck, less is definitely more.

Flipping over we have Hump, an altogether darker affair with a twisting acid line joining distorted 808 drums and tripped-out snippets of spoken word coming in and out of focus. The low-slung bumpy groove and spacey synth parts make this a compelling warehouse track which will draw everyone into it’s seductive confines.

Closing the release we have Actual Price, a shuffling, deep groover with rumbling low end and machine-like analogue synth part skipping around the crunchy beats. A cerebral yet punchy and dynamic closer to an excellent release!
