This release will have you dancing and crying at the same time. On his debut album, Paris-based producer and founder of the ‘raw poetry’ aesthetic Loyce Demellier - AKA DJ Physical - takes us on a fast-paced journey through techno, electro, breaks and more. Whilst the music’s indisputable home is the club, Physical teases out moments of playfulness and sentimentality amongst hard-hitting electronics.

‘Silver Lake’ LP resides on the colder, more industrial side of Demellier’s sonic spectrum, following on from his latest release on London imprint 1Ø PILLS MATE which saw him depart from the more lofi quality of his previous releases in favour of a raw, club-focused sound. On the A-side, Demellier situates the release within the context of old warehouse raves, with euphoric acid melodies and a 140BPM propulsion (‘Uranium’); and high-pitched synth stabs that ascend from darkness (‘Gold Mines’). The B-side maintains the pace, but this time it’s about electro and breaks. On ‘Overshoot’, reverberating cymbals add another layer of depth to Amen break interludes whilst ‘Lawbreaker’ harnesses a cheekier tone, offering respite from the previous tracks’ venom.

This air of playfulness sticks around on ‘Lunatic State’ helped by MPC drum claps and a ludic electro melody, before fellow Parisian Ika Sile steps up for ‘Early Sprinter’ and ‘Bootybounce’: the former offering a slicker take on acid techno and the latter: rave music at its absolute with piano stabs and sleazy vocal chops.

Stratton returns to Of Paradise for the label’s 20th release. Chalking up a hat-trick of EP’s on the imprint, with the impeccably effective ‘Never Bettered Always Battered’. Arguably his most accomplished and significant release to date, this 4-tracker effortlessly showcases the London-based producers expertly distilled and patented style of evocative and headstrong UK hardcore.

The A-side launches with the anthemic ‘Badboy’, a true floor melter, loaded with tunnelling drums, an electric bassline and a criminally infectious chopped vocal. Following that is ‘Double Happiness (Bludclot Mix)’, a lethal dose of no nonsense proto-rave goods, emanating from the streets of North London. The product of a truly skilled operator who trades in no-nonsense tunes built specifically for the dancefloor.

‘Bless’ kicks off the flip side with effortless momentum. The impetus clearly focused on rupturing bassbins and rewiring brains, with its growling bassline, lethal Amen break, euphoric melody and rabid hoover. Closing out the release is ‘Vapour Trail Hurricane’ another system-rushing slice of hardcore mastery that pulls no punches in its pursuit of dancefloor dominance. Fuelled by a hammering kick, sharp sirens and swirling acid lines, these are the final moments before imminent self destruction.

This is true peak-time pressure from one of the UK’s most exciting and inimitable talents.

Tooflez Musik-head Danielle Arielli, also known as Andi A, is up next on Smile For A While's sublabel All That Jelly with her The Green House Experience EP, consisting out of four classy House tunes ready for the floors and capturing the vibe of the 90s with a new livery. The B1, Getcha Body, comes in with warm keys, jackin' House vocals as well as horn stabs creating an inescapable momentum, which is hard to unchain from as its groove ties one not only deeper but tightly to the track's it before everything culminates in a break-esque seeming break. Getcha Body then picks up where it had starting and floats on its bass line wrapped with harmonic chords to the end.

Zamal steps up with a debut EP for Freeride Millenium that marks the label's most techno-leaning sounds to date. Remixes come from Raphael Schön and Peter Invasion & Gregor Habicht with artwork, as always, from Daniel Rajcsanyi.

Zamal calls himself a "military brat", half US-American citizen born to a mother that served in the US Air Force branch of the military, he was finally stationed in Stuttgart's barracks after many years of constant moving. His non conventional upbringing and love of underground electronic sounds has helped develop his own particular take on techno. To date, he has mostly self-released his raw and rugged DIY live sounds but has also contributed tracks to the Queer Base and Impact compilations on this label. He now makes a fine step up with his first full EP.

Opener 'Vague' is a quickened techno groove with drums that insist you get dancing. Clattering percussive sounds and icy hi hats bring the texture as warm chords add a real sense of dance floor rush. 'Moan' picks up the pace yet further with clipped, funky but fast drums laying down a tough groove that is softened by gorgeous ambient pads and meaningful chords. It's soulful techno of the highest order. The superb 'Moving Air' is a more freaky and intense workout with dense melodic sequences looping over and over, their pixelated texture firing at your synapses whilst driving techno drums keep things on the move.

First to remix is Raphael Schön who also offered up a fresh cut for the IMPACT compilation. His version of 'Vague' goes deep and dubby with tunneling drums and sleek cosmic synths wrapping themselves around the wooden hits. Next up, RIOTVAN owner Peter Invasion joins forces once again with Gregor Habicht after previous outings on the likes of Correspondant and Live At Robert Johnson. Their remix of 'Moving Air' is another muscular one with chunky drums and slapping hits. It's intense and loopy and sure to bring real rapture to the club.

The track was made by Imbrasasm (Matas Imbrasas) , a dj and producer from Kaunas, Lithuania. Matas recently had a debut in one of the Lithuania's most supreme clubs called Lizdas. At the moment Matas is a student of medicine and he also produces and plays electronic music. His fascination with the movie The Matrix led him to create this song . This track is like a reminder for a free world people to remember and don't forget that in Eastern Europe currently there is war and a former russian dictator is giving orders to his army and all generals to implement all kinds of terrorism in Ukraine. I hope this song will have a positive effect. Also, this song is  a reminder  that Ukraine gets a major waves of terrorism in their country.

Binary Algorithms - Hacking Realities

Having appeared on Human Endeavour's inaugural Various Artists release, ‘Trains Of Thought’, Geneva-based DJ and producer Reda Saiarh now steps up to the plate for his first solo EP on the imprint, which showcases his fresh, forward-thinking take on Belgian New Beat.

Drawing inspiration from his Belgo-Moroccan heritage, on ‘Comfort Zone’, he approaches the traditions of the genre with a completely new twist that weaves elements of progressive trance, jackin’ 90s house and Italo disco into the mix, whilst harking back to the heyday with his trusty bank of signature New Beat samples.

‘I’m Not Your Friend’ rounds the EP off on a guttural note, literally. Reda cheekily samples a burp, which is used as a percussive guide alongside tinkling bells and tittering hats, while the track's title rings out over hopeful pads, a soaring metallic synth line and a deep bass groove.
