Sometimes, collaborations only make sense when you hear the results for the first time. This isn't one of those times. No, this was a match made in heaven from the get go. Punk attitudes and club aesthetics like peanut butter and chocolate. For our premiere off the 'Caraxes' EP, deviant duo Il Est Vilaine have turned in in a dark 'n' dirty slung out remix of 'Incognito', equal parts psych, dub and synth pop. I wish they'd played this one in school assembly instead of the sh*t hymns we had to sing along to.

Calypso is the new label from Iñigo Vontier (Mx) and Thomass Jackson (Arg) which will focus on promoting latinamerican artists. With a solid background from both artists releasing on labels like Turbo, Correspondant, Gomma, Her Majestys Ship, My Favorite Robot and many more, Calypso promesses to deliver an inmersion into some of the best artists of the underground latinamerican electronic scene. 
For the first track on the B-Side Thomass Jackson gives us "Fantomas", a creepy funky track that will fit perfectly for Dracula's birthday with dirty vocals and misterious samples. The full release will also come wth tracks from Iñigo Vontier and up-and-coming producers Colossio and Mendrix both hailing from Mexico.
The first 12" will see the light somewhere in the beggining of June.

Blindetonation hits double figures with a suitably notable new EP from Aurum Miles. Pardon Moi, Il Est Vilaine and Thomass Jackson all serve up sizzling remixes to complete this interesting package. 

Miles hails from Lithuania and has grown up around shoegaze, rock and British indie, and was later touched by electronic sounds. A keys, drums and guitar player who mixes up all these influences with narcotic weirdness, he has released on this label before and always impresses. 

The excellently elastic ‘Few Feets’ is a sleazy, low slung machine made disco jam with skewed synths, punk hits and dirty bass. Exotic vocals and dark spoken words flesh out the wonky groove and the whole thing is hugely intoxicating. ‘Easy Come Easy Go’ is a menacing number with more filthy bass guitar riffs that snake along an urban sounding landscape. More dehumanised vocals bring an edgy feel and cosmic synths serve to trip you out. Last original ‘Mojo’ completes this brilliant disco freak show with off kilter synths and guttural guitar riffs that add up to dark cosmic excellence. 

First to remix is Berlin Based New Wave Duo Pardon Moi aka James Brook and Thomas Freudenthal. They flip ‘Few Feets’ into a surging track with shooting synths that reach to the skies. It’s a spine tingling cut with plenty of intergalactic energy.  Then come the duo of Il Est Vilaine, who make twisted electronic music and get their machines dancing on labels like Dialect. Their take on ‘Easy Come Easy Go’ is libidinous and dripping with a moody tension. Propped up by rugged bass and coloured with naughty chords, it’s a psyched-out and vital version.  Lastly, label regular and esteemed modern disco man Thomass Jackson works ‘Mojo’ in to a characterfully chugging, flipped out number with scale-riding melodies and percolating bass that takes you on a real trip. 

This is an inventive package of perfectly macho dark disco.

Rubin Et Le Paradoxe are French.  So French that we can't find any promotional bio in English, but that doesn't really matter.  Certain bits of inforation coupled with listening to their music are pretty universal;  their love of Pink Floyd and the Alan Parsons Project for example and their love of off the wall dance music which permeated the late noughties. 
A stalwart of that sound and brilliant label in their own right,  Her Majesty’s Ship have called upon their services to release their next EP. As well as that, the Mighty Get a Room! have volunteered their services for remix duties.
The beginning of the track opens like the start of a Disney Film while gorgeous spoken word vocals before normal service gets resumed.  
Get a Room! remixes are rarer than hen's teeth and are genuinely and totally some of the best productions around.
It's always exciting getting the chance to write up a track as good as this.  Psychedelic, with on point production and in a language which British writers don't understand on account of being unable to speak any other language than English. That aside, this track is Killer.

@Yuksek ’s now six year old label @PartyfineMusic kicks off 2019 with a bumper compilation featuring plenty of exclusive tracks from  key associates old and new.

The compilation showcases what the label will release in 2019, with forthcoming EPs by new signees @HelloAzur , PoloCorp (half of French duo Polo & Pan), Birdee & French Toast, Uncle O, and exclusive tracks by Obas Menor (half of Rabo & Snob), YouMan, Love Will Say No, Moonlight Matters and more as well as edits and remixes by Purple Disco Machine and Yuksek himself.

Dark disco, deviant disco, neo disco, psycho disco... you can pick up just about any word to describe the sound of this new compilation, but for sure disco is the main influence. Disco is not only for poolsides or cheesy parties, as this label has long been proving.

Luca Venezia, aka Curses, has with his Carcassonne-mini LP, written and produced a cold wave dream filtered through how all the sci-fi movie soundtracks of the eighties should have sounded like; picture The Cure on a study visit in John Carpenters studio in 1983.

This six-track mini LP is Curses first release on Höga Nord Rekords and you can place his music beside other artist in the HNR artists stable, like Jamie Paton and Pardon Moi – eighties influenced dark and expensive sounding electronic music. Luca Venezia also solves the task of putting vocal elements in the tracks with sharpness and precision; the heavy processed reverberating overdubs float in and out on a tastefully low level in the mix.

Outside the safe studio walls the discourse is polarised and dumbed down to headlines and introductions, to guttural noises and simplification. Curses music is part of your antidote to this regression and is nor black or white nor simple or safe.
