Hyein is a dj and producer based in Seoul where she studied Film and Moving Images, focusing on the coexistence and cross-modality between image and sound. Naturally being drawn towards audio visual arts, she met DJ Soolee and she was fascinated by the spirituality and smeared texture of minimal, constructive techno. 

Always capturing minor irritations and traces of mother nature within objects around her, she tries to express her feelings and dissolve her fears by emulating those subtle movements through music. Inspired by “uncanny” ambient sounds from the 70s, she produces deep and dark sound textures, gently experimenting with movements of low frequencies. 

Hyein currently holds a residency at Seoul’s underground techno club vurt and works on the project Endless Wave which connects her paintings and techno sound.

Hyein은 서울에서 활동하고 있는 Techno DJ, Producer 이다. 학교에서 영상과 영화를 공부하면서 사운드와 이미지의 공존관계에 대한 관심이 생겨 자연스럽게 오디오 비주얼에 관한 흥미를 키워가던 중 DJ soolee를 만났다. 이후 테크노라는 음악의 정신성과, 미니멀하고 구조적인 음악적 형태에서 묻어 나오는 텍스처를 느낄 수 있는 점에 매료되어 음악을 배우고 시작하게 되었다. 

그녀는 대자연 같은 대상물의 디테일한 움직임을 포착하는 경험의 순간에 느껴지는 두렵고 낯선 감정들을 본인의 사운드에 녹여낸다. 섬세하게 풀어내는 어둡고 딥한 베이스의 움직임들과 70년대에 엠비언트에서 영감을 받은 사운드들은 사람들을 때론 ‘Uncanny’ 하게 만들기도 한다. 

현재는 서울 합정동에 위치한 club vurt에서 레지던트 dj로 경력을 쌓고 있으며 “ENDLESS WAVE”라는 주제로 그녀의 테크노사운드에서 상호 작용하는 것들을 페인팅으로 풀어내는 회화 작업도 하고 있다.
