Hailing from Belgium, the duo comprises Max and Will. Max is also known as Athys (of Athys and Duster) while Will is known as Synthopia. Madly the pair only got together in the studio for fun, but quickly realised they had something special as they tapped into unique recording techniques such as placing objects on a rumbling sub, recording the rattling sound and layering it into their basses!
Creative, daring and capable of battering any floor with their productions: Hypoxia are already a household name in Belgium. With tracks like ‘Badass’ & ‘Discoshit’, they’re about to become household names globally, too…

The cold, sharp light of the full moon wrapped each of them in its bitter grasp, tendrils of the deepest anger and regret encircling them as the shadows from the dense branches of the grim forest of their surroundings. Their old friend lay prone at their feet, the gun that ended that precious spark of consciousness still smoking in Lenny’s hands, his weathered face cast down, cold eyes staring at the carnage of his making. Blood flowed darkly from the head wound, a growing treacle puddle reflecting the moon above in its metallic embrace, each of their faces around it mirrored darkly in that slowly expanding pool of their brother’s end. The curse that had escaped his lips as he realized the betrayal was seared into their ears, the final glance spiked through with heartbreak entwined in deepest hate burned into their retinas. But for all their regret, their patriarch had spoken, made himself clear… the family is violence, but it is not the twisted pleasures that he had chased, and the family line, when crossed – is the very end of consciousness.

L 33 cracks open 2018 with his inimitably heavy style of ultra funky and future-focused neuro on home imprint, Eatbrain. Following up his much-loved, cornerstone ‘KARATE LP’ on the label, the MAFIA EP delivers 5 tracks of the kind of hard-hitting, purely dancefloor drum & bass that L 33 has come to be known for, with LIGHTS OUT also featuring the smooth but sinister vocals of MC COPPA delivering the vibes. Although the name Burr Oak is one which has only just started to become acquainted with the drum & bass genre, the faces behind the outfit have already made their mark over its last formative years. A new venture between The Clamps and Opsen (known for making up one part of the Signs project) their first release through the Trendkill platform sent shockwaves throughout the wider dance music scene. ‘Time Has Come’ and ‘Originate’ were selected by label owner and pivotal figure Prolix, setting a standard for the pair which they’ve followed with their forthcoming single. 

Burr Oak shown that they’re no strangers to high production standards and an enviable work rate. Just over a month from their first release, they have continued their expansion across the world of drum & bass through brand new tracks ‘Bannockburn’ and ‘Struggle’. These are two tracks which signify just how electric the pairing has proven to be, something which has translated into their music. The first of the two is ‘Bannockburn’, with an introduction alluding to just how explosive the drop is building up to become. You’re catapulted through a zipline of shaking subs and slamming drumbeats, with a bassline that drives straight through the tracks core. Both producers show their experience in the way they masterfully manipulate sounds and the result is chaotic, yet still streamlined in its composition. 

The second part of the forthcoming Trendkill single is ‘Struggle’, just as cutthroat as its forerunner, although its hooks cut deeper and deeper between every drum relay. ‘Struggle’ yet again demonstrates that Burr Oak aren’t afraid to go for the jugular and they do this with the utmost precision, something which shines through their expert craftmanship. Stabbing synths slice their way through the mix and before long you’re totally enveloped by the carnage. It’s another monumental step in the evolution of Burr Oak – something which Trendkill are nurturing, as they have done countless times with artists who are now dominating global stages.
