A Mountain Of Rimowa is Sean Johnston of A Love From Outer Space and Hardway Bros. Johnston uses the AMOR alias to explore how his varied influences can be wrought into new shapes: mining the past for a path to the future. No More takes the optimism of an 80’s soul staple and reimagines it as a robotic Italo disco anthem. His Sisters and Brothers in the East takes cues from EBM and New Beat but bends them into contemporary forms. Conversely His Sisters and Brothers in the West is a reconstruction of the same material viewed through the lens of 90’s house heads such as Clivilles and Cole - a Music factory for the 21st Century. Joker takes inspiration from early 90’s ambient dub and repurposes it as an early morning work out in the cosmic hole. In line with The EP’s NYC house influence, New York heroes Justin Strauss and Max Pask are invited to remix No More, delivering a tough piano house reading which will work the floor and raise hands.

North and South Italy meet to experiment something new together.

The Year of Fear - as we call it not without irony - has also been a source of inspiration during the lockdown through old movies on TV, that’s how producer Billy Bogus (Modena) - a serious movie junkie and OST digger - while leading his own cinematic corner "Night Movie" on the fashion blog "Beat to Be" virtually met Vincenzo and Christian from Outtake (Naples). They began discussing the rising menace of the Covid-19 like it was a Sci-Fi B-Movie "and you know what? It was". After several movies... all their different inputs came to create a peculiar EP.

Truly inspired by "The Year of Fear' and by all the post-atomic, apocalyptic and cinematic imagery and fed by B movies and the dystopian reality on the street. The title track revolves around a stunting vibe, with soundtracks samples, hypnotic voices and “end of the world” explosions, while the remix by Italo Disco rising star Daniel Monaco takes us to a contaminated beach from a Joe D’Amato’s movie, between twilight atmosphere and car rides in Miami. Cobra Verde (inspired by Werner Herzog’s cult movie) is an electro weapon, minimal and groovy, ready to strike with darkling pads and dubby echos, its mood reminds of a zombie breakdancing in Wall Street. The remix by heavyweight Hard Ton is for hot jumpers. Male vocals, groovy synths and the unlimited will to make the dance floor great again.

No doubt "Apocalisso!" is the soundtrack of the times.

Vilnius based spot has built its reputation slowly but surely to become one of the brightest lights in the night sky of Europe. 2018 marks another milestone in club’s incredible journey: the first ever music compilation entitled “Opium of the People”, a rock solid collection of 13 unreleased tracks by core residents and the members of extended Opium family from all around the world featuring Tel Aviv’s producer and song writer Autarkic, Australia-born-Europe-bound New Age travellers Dreems and Kris Baha, Canadian smooth operator Thomas Von Party, Frankfurt’s Musikmaschine Lauer, German-Mexican studio encounter of Sebastian Voigt & Theus Mago, Berlin based Spanish fashionista Hugo Capablanca, Detroit legend Sharif Laffrey and Russian crate digging trio of Leonid Lipelis, Sergey Krylow and Ilya Simonov under the name of Plungerbird x Beard in Dust. Most of them are coming to Lithuanian capital’s hot spot so often, they could easily start their own fan clubs in town. The local talent also gets a well-deserved attention. Manfredas, Siaubas, Pletnev, and V find their place on the compilation and bring the modern sound of Vilnius nights to the vanguard.  

“Opium of the People” has been conceived and compiled by Vidmantas “V” Cepkauskas, the head of programming and resident DJ of Opium, a well-known contributor to the electronic music scene for nearly two decades. He has reinvented a friends-to-friends after-hours place into an international music institution in a matter of six seasons and is the best candidate to curate and present “Opium of the People”.

In a small gastro studio selling fermented products, a biological revolution takes place. The good bacteria stop working and no more products turn sour. Danilas, the manager of the tannery, who has spent his whole life among the bacteria, suddenly hears their voice. They are angry. Bacteria are fed up with exploitation, want equal rights, and threaten the world: "People need bacteria, and we don't need people."

The fermentation process is vital for humans, but the rights of bacteria sound absurd. Will Danilas be able to make people sympathize with another species – an alien species – and its needs? First he will have to convince two members of the tannery syndicate, Fatima and Jie, who take a much more pragmatic view of the crisis. This story is a test of empathy for humans.

“(…) ALFOS pilot, Sean Johnston, has a ton of music to about to land. The most balearic of which is an E.P. for Le Temps Perdu. Released under the moniker A Mountain Of Rimowa** the record packages 4 originals, plus a remix by the NYC team of Justin Strauss and Max Pask. Each of the tracks bears a recognizable sample, or recreation there of, spanning the genres of soul, post-punk, and house. But these aren’t edits, or even “radical reinterpretations”. More affectionate nods. Since the borrowed bits aren’t core to the tunes. They aren’t the hooks. More an anchor, a leaping-off point. Sometimes only really evident in the intros and outros. Perhaps deliberately acknowledging the past while reaching for, and returning from, the future. No More takes a line from a soulful chart hit and kinda uses its sentiment – of love and understanding, an end to all wars – as its stance. Re-contextualizing these Shoom favourites in a purely electronic setting. Raining down racing arpeggios and anthem-ic piano. The production betraying its author`s love of Italo and synth pop. Joker replays a section of treated post-punk guitar / ambient isolationist dub. Using it to build a buzzing forceful throb around a skipping motorik rhythm, bleeps and a New Order-esque b-line. Brothers And Sisters In The West on the other hand bases its bass riff on that of an instantly recognizable 80s house classic. The new beat / EBM-flavoured Brothers And Sisters In The East is punk funk, whose bottom-end is hulking, muscular, Paul Simonon-like, while its guitars chop and change between tense and nervous Psycho Killer strum, and angular Mick Jones London Calling shapes. The beat like a machined Barkays` break. Pounding, but not pulverizing. Its echoed rimshots eventually escalating into an intense saber rattle.

**A Mountain Of Rimowa is a reference to the life of the “jetset” DJ, and high-end luggage. It is not – as I imagined – some occult Lovecraftian location. Then again, maybe it is.”

As soon as the piano sets it the Each Other's approach takes us to a place and time, that's partly out of sight at the moment as it suggests the freedom at summerish outdoor events. However, their remix reminds one of the beauty of dancing to joyful music under the blue sky in a sexy yet elegant way.

His Sisters and Brothers in the East takes cues from EBM and New Beat but bends them into contemporary forms. Conversely His Sisters and Brothers in the West is a reconstruction of the same material viewed through the lens of 90’s house heads such as Clivilles and Cole - a Music factory for the 21st Century. Joker takes inspiration from early 90’s ambient dub and repurposes it as an early morning work out in the cosmic hole. In line with The EP’s NYC house influence, New York heroes Justin Strauss and Max Pask are invited to remix No More, delivering a tough piano house reading which will work the floor and raise hands.

El norte y el sur de Italia se encuentran para experimentar juntos algo nuevo.

El año del miedo, como lo llamamos no sin ironía, también ha sido una fuente de inspiración durante el encierro a través de viejas películas en la televisión, así es como el productor Billy Bogus, un adicto al cine, entro en un rincón cinematográfico "Night Movie" en el blog de moda "Beat to Be" y conoció virtualmente a Vincenzo y Christian de Outtake (Nápoles). Comenzaron a discutir la creciente amenaza del Covid-19 como si fuera una película B de ciencia ficción "¿y sabes qué? Lo era". Después de varias películas ... todos sus diferentes aportes llegaron a crear un EP peculiar.

El remix de la estrella emergente de Italo Disco Daniel Monaco nos lleva a una playa contaminada de una película de Joe D'Amato, entre una atmósfera crepuscular y paseos en automóvil en Miami.

Sin duda "¡Apocalisso!" es la banda sonora de nuestra  época.

North and south Italy are united and musically combined in Le Temp Perdu's upcoming dystopian EP Apocalisso! by Billy Bogus and Outtake. While the first represents the northern part as Billy Bogus is staying in Modena, Outtake come from Naples. However, for their first common EP they three artists firstly had discussed the rising menace of Covid-19 in a Sci-Fi movie manner, a preference especially Bogus complies, before turning their several approaches and inputs into creating two original tracks, with Apocalisso! being the soundtrack of 2020, or as the artists call it: The Year of Fear. Consisting out of soundtrack samples and a destructive yet charming vocal that is looped over an almost break-influenced and vibing bass line, which again is riding over dystopian chords before another sequence sets in that kind of resembles the role of an antagonist or is the counterpart to the initally introduced one, Apocalisso!'s general vibe can simply be described as that from a B-Movie in first class-manner.

Billy Bogus & Outtake's Apocalisso! EP will be released on Le Temps Perdu on December 11th, 2020.

EXCLUSIVE: Billy Bogus & Outtake - Apocalisso! [Le Temps Perdu]

Truly inspired by "The Year of Fear' and by all the post-atomic, apocalyptic and cinematic imagery and fed by B movies and the dystopian reality on the street. The title track revolves around a stunting vibe, with soundtracks samples, hypnotic voices and “end of the world” explosions, while the remix by Italo Disco rising star Daniel Monaco takes us to a contaminated beach from a Joe D’Amato’s movie, between twilight atmosphere and car rides in Miami. Cobra Verde (inspired by Werner Herzog’s cult movie) is an electro weapon, minimal and groovy, ready to strike with darkling pads and dubby echos, its mood reminds of a zombie breakdancing in Wall Street. The remix by heavyweight Hard Ton is for hot jumpers. Male vocals, groovy synths and the unlimited will to make the dance floor great again.

No doubt "Apocalisso!" is the soundtrack of the times.
