This week's RIPEcast is from Space Cowboy's own DJ Deckard. Here's what he has to say for himself:

"Breakfast of Champions is consistently my favorite party of the year both to DJ and attend. I opened the outdoor main stage at 9am this year and for all intents and purposes got to play the sunrise set I had been desiring to play but never got the chance at Burning Man earlier in the year. I took it as an opportunity and honor to be able to set the tone for the morning and get the party off on the right foot. I loved getting to play more of a house oriented set with vocals and a block party feel towards the end of the set. I had a blast playing and hope it shows through in the set."

Bio:
Deckard began DJing in Seattle in 2000 and soon began playing gigs up and down the west coast. Upon moving to San Francisco in 2005 he fell in love with the electronic music scene which is so unique to the Bay Area. You can find him spinning at San Francisco institutions such as Mighty, Shine, Supper Club, Wish and the End Up. Deckard capped off a successful 2009 by joining up with the Space Cowboys Burning Man camp. Depending on the crowd, venue and time of day you might find him spinning downtempo lounge, funky big beat, tech house, electro or breaks.

Two hour set recorded live at Camp Lester on 4th of July

4th of July After Hours Set

I had the pleasure of playing to the always beautiful sunsets on Koh Lanta, an island in Thailand at the Pangea Beach Bar. This was a great opportunity to put together a set of a lot of the chiller tracks I've been collecting over the last year or so.

This 2h30m set is a journey with the sun, starting off chill and, after the sun sets and the lights come on, a little bit more of a dance vibe with many throwbacks.

Drop it Down Dance Party at Booty Hunters Burning Man 2019

Lush Bunny and I wanted to play a fun playful deep house set of cover songs while out on the Dusty Rhino for a sunset art tour at Burning Man.  This was my first time playing on an art car. Unfortunately Lushy didn't record his part, as he played first, so this was the part I played.

I made this very intentional set to take you on my journey of the past year as I continue to heal from a very tumultuous year.  As I move on, upwards and begin to break through to the sunnier side, it’s becoming quite clear that things like compassion, forgiveness, and releasing those who no longer serve me, is the right path for me.

This is my sunrise set at The Jive Joint in the Coachella Music Festival campgrounds. It's definitely the most epic low key set I've ever recorded! Those crazy kids weren't leaving until they got kicked out!
