Today’s word of the day is trite.

Trite is a descriptive word therefore it is an adjective.

Trite describes something as lacking originality or freshness. It can also be used to describe something as being dull as a result of being overused.

An example of the word trite used in a sentence would be:

It might seem obvious and trite, but I think this is our best chance of success..

Or, These designs are so trite, we need more inspired and thought provoking works!

Synonyms: banal, clichéd, vapid, common, unimaginative.

Antonyms: original, fresh, imaginative, novel, visionary.
